A 13 year old girl shot two people who worked at a beauty supply store.  The girl and her friend were kicked out for shoplifting.  When they came back, the cops were called on them.  The friend was arrested on an outstanding juvenile warrant.  The girl was allowed to go home by the police.  She returned to the store and shot the parents of the owner.

Bullets don’t discriminate.  Bullets don’t care about age or race or gender.  A bullet fired by a 13 year old girl is going to kill you the same as a bullet fired by a 25 year old man.

So what would you do?  Would you defend yourself from a 13 year old girl with a gun?  Could you shoot a 13 year old girl to save your life?

Let this be a reminder, don’t make assumptions when it comes to your safety.  The person who might try and kill you might the last person that you expect.

  1. There would be no consideration of someone’s age or gender if they demonstrated an intention of shooting me. I would only hope that I could respond to eliminating the threat before getting shot. I strongly identify with the saying, “I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.”

  2. I have a duty to protect my family and be there for them. A person trying to take me away from my family through a violent act should expect violence in return and they will not receive any mercy from me or regret from my conscience.

  3. We all hear that the gun is the great equalizer; it puts the 80-lb woman on the same level as the 220-lb thug.

Unfortunately, as in this case, that door swings both ways. This 13-year-old girl with a gun and bad intent was every bit as dangerous as the 220-lb thug with a gun and bad intent, and should rightfully receive the same response.

What would I do? I can’t say I wouldn’t hesitate, but I hope that if faced with a similar situation, “THE THREAT” is what stands out most in my mind.

I just have to pray, like always, that this never happens, but keep training as though it might.

  4. Further complication: This was in Ferguson. Yes, that Ferguson.

No matter the facts, no matter that outcome, no matter the video evidence, your house would be torched within 24 hours.

    Now what’s your answer?
