Because you never know what the other person can bring to the fight. Leave your Ego at home.

Anybody: “You are a fucking pussy!”
Me: “Yes, I am. You win. Have a great day.”

You will absolutely win all the stupid confrontations you do not take on.

But what happens if they still come after you”

That is when their failed victim selections comes into play. It was their decision and they get to pay for it.

  1. My ex could never figure out why I never would take her out to “play pool”…. I always said you and your friends go, have fun. Also its why you dont wear the latest “taticool Im a badass” shirts.(even if you are, or THINK you are). just an invitation that can and will be used against you when backed into a corner..
I have nothing to prove and am in no competition with anybody..

  2. About 10 years ago, my neighbor was having a 4th of July party and some of the kids were setting off bottle rockets.
One of them hit my window.
I walk out on my back deck and said something like “Hey guys, I don’t mind you shooting off fireworks but please try to not hit my house with them.”
One of the visiting adults, who probably had 4 inches and 150lbs on me, yelled “Fuck that guy. Y’all do what you want!”
Quick math in my head came up with “If I say anything to this guy I’m going to end up killing him in front of his kids.”
So I calmly walk back into my house and hear him say “See? Dude’s a pussy.”

Then I texted the people who lived there with the basics of what happened, because I really didn’t need the kids to set my house on fire accidentally and I didn’t think calling the cops on 9 year olds was the right answer, either.

About 30 seconds later the woman of the house comes out and starts beating the guy over the head with her shoe. “THOSE ARE NICE PEOPLE! DO NOT FUCK WITH THEM! GET YO ASS BACK IN THE HOUSE MOTHERFUCKER!”

It ended up that it was her brother. She apologized profusely the next day in person.

  3. Twice I’ve been accosted by a young gun who wanted to make trouble with me. My opening gambit was to say, I’ve been your age, I know what you’re thinking. You’ve not been my age, you do not know of what I am capable. In each case they away a bit wiser.

Then there was the time some idiots in a car tried to engage me in their intended harm. My response was to go through the motions as if I’m reaching for and loading a handgun. It worked, they backed off.

  4. This video was used for discussion in my martial arts class a few weeks ago. With pretty much everything being filmed these days, to avoid legal trouble, showing de-escalation is key. Verbal and physical is shown here (saying stop, retreating, etc). We’re taught to retreat if possible, have our hands up and open (as opposed to closed fists) with a defensive stance if we can’t retreat. That way when it happens, you can easily demonstrate you were not the aggressor.

Sometimes that conflicts squarely with a desire to teach people a lesson. A lot of bad behavior out there exists solely because people let them get away with it. Its a tough call.

  5. Recent event here in MN. Words were exchanged in a Monticello Gas Station. Man finishes his purchase and leaves. 71 Year old man peels out after him to continue confrontation. 40 miles later in Maple Grove, man finally pulls over after exiting and trying to re-enter on entrance ramp. 71 year old does the crazy/nuts get out of car and attack thing. Boom! Dead old man. The guy did not stick around, and did not turn himself in until the next day.

I do not know if he did not call the police, or the police were not effective in intercepting and stopping the issue?

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
