That happened to me back when I was too cool for caps and only wore a bandana to keep the sweat off my eyes. About the only thing I did right was to keep the gun aimed downrange while a case burned my right eyelid. The language was rather colorful and probably scared the gators in the area.

  1. Also, proper safety glasses which don’t have a gap between your face and the lenses that allow brass to get between the glasses and your face.

Regular glasses are not eye protection.

    1. Yup!!! I used to wear regular eyeglasses and shot a whole string along with 2 mag changes with the 2nd empty .45 case resting between the right arm of the glasses and my temple Aaahh the glory… the smoke….

  2. At the indoor range, I was shooting my Beretta M9 22 at 10 yards and after the 4th shot, I had a great group going. A shell bounced off the wall and landed between the earpiece of my glasses and just to the right of my eye. I kept shooting and it was the best group I ever had at 10 yards and I still have the scar.
I feel like scene in “Jaws” when they are comparing scars !!

  3. I’m glad I had that lesson reinforced painlessly when someone else’s brass bounced off my hat at the public range.
