Paraphrasing somebody I saw in the webs: To carry with an empty chamber is the same as thinking you will have time to put on the sat belt before the accident.
If you do not have confidence on yourself to carry with a round in chamber, you need to practice the manual of arms, unholstering and holstering till you do it automatically. Remember, gun does not go bang unless the trigger gets played with.

I still find it funny that people bring up the long outdated practices of various foreign locals when looking for their Speshul Snowflake Operators Operating Operationally Secret Skwirrl gun techniques.
For one, when it comes to actual, real life experience with shooting bad guys in the face with guns, there’s far, far more available in the good old USA than the rest of the world combined- from cops, from soldiers, from citizens. And there’s a of general agreement on the best way to do just that with a handgun (two handed Iso type grip & stance, aimed fire using the sights, round in chamber, ect). And much of that was developed in tactical shooting competitions.
But it involves a whole lot of practice. Which is why I think the Speshul Snowflake techniques appeal to the derp crowd. You get all the reflected glory of the operators who’s method you’re aping, but don’t have to actually put holes in targets while on the timer.
