Pelosi is 81.  Fauci is 81.  Biden is 79.

Why the fuck will these people not let go of the reigns of power?

Why can they not enjoy their retirement with their millions of dollars?

Why is this country allowing itself to be strangled by the arthritic, liver spotted hands of people that long ago should have gone to an gated retirement community in Florida or Arizona?

Why has America allowed itself to become a senilocracy?

Update:

The comment by Jack hit the nail on the head.

It’s been a long time since I read Gulliver’s Travels, and I’m not sure I read all of it (something I must correct).

Struldbrugg were like humans but immortal.  They also continued to age.

At age 80 they were declared legally dead, their property was taken and given to their inheritors and they were forbidden from having jobs or participating in civil society.

As explained by Swift:

Otherwise, as avarice is the necessary consequence of old age, those immortals would in time become proprietors of the whole nation, and engross the civil power, which, for want of abilities to manage, must end in the ruin of the public.

That is spot on what we are seeing.

These people are driven by sheer avarice.

My only disagreement with Swift is that 80 is too old.

Civil service should have forced retirement at the same age as one begins to collect Social Security.

Here is your check, now get the fuck out.

  1. I can’t agree. There are people who are amazingly sharp when they are old, and young people who are greedy and ignorant. As a voter, I don’t want my choices limited.

The problem isn’t that old people are in control. The problem is that people don’t look at the character, qualifications, accomplishments, and condition of their candidates. They just want their side to win. It would help if we limited the number of terms that could be served in Congress. We weren’t meant to have professional politicians. But then we would still have unelected bureaucrats running the show, as they stay on and on. Years ago, I used to watch a BBC show called Yes, Minister which dealt with the influence of the unelected. I didn’t really get it at the time, but now, I do.

I can’t comprehend why people are willing to vote for people who have served for decades and accomplished nothing of value (or done much harm) and who are clearly demented, but they do. Mindboggling.

    1. I might have agreed with you in the past but not anymore.

      Covid was the kicker.

I have documented on this blog how our octogenarian government destroyed children to protect themselves from a virus that spares children and kills octogenarians.

This is the first time in human history the grandchild was sacrificed to save grandma.

The elderly lost their right to govern in my opinion.

      1. I can see your point. I’m not sure if that has to do their age or their generation or simply with greed and self-interest. I wouldn’t want “The Squad ” to lead us. Their youth would not make them preferable.

  2. The Democrat Leadership reminds me of the good old days of the 1980’s with Chernenko* and the Soviet Politburo standing in the cold atop Lenins Tomb announcing his ascension to General Secretary. A few days later he caught a cold … As Reagan said, “I could not negotiate with the Russians because their leaders were always dying on me.”

Now you know why our political leadership are so insane about COVID. It kills old people. Our political leadership on both sides is all OLD People.

    * Not sure it was Chernenko, CCCP General Secretaries were taking power and dying on a regular basis,

    1. Eight year combined lifetime limit in all Federal elected offices. All Federal elected offices should be unpaid. No more professional politicians.

      1. Alternatively: I had a notion for a Constitutional Amendment about the salary of members of Congress: pay each whatever the current rate was at the time he was first elected to either House, or the current rate now, whichever is LOWER. In other words, no pay raises, ever. It would make a great deterrent against inflation.
Better yet if the same rule were applied to all Federal employees, especially Fed staff. (Better still if Congress were to restore its control over the Fed as Article 1, Section 8, item 4 calls for.)

  3. FBI Field Agents have a mandatory retirement age of 57. That would be a good place to start.

One of the podcasters I listen put it very well. All of these narcissistic, sociopathic old fucks stay in their seats of power for so long that they never have to live within the world they create. I agree with him, forcing them off the public tit and having to deal with the world they create could very well serve to moderate these assholes.

Or not. Who knows. But people almost 50 years my senior who have been insider trading and cutting back room deals to put their net worth at levels more than 100x of mine and who have no connection at all to the real world telling me how I need to live can get fucked by a fully loaded Kenworth C500

    1. What also happens is a bozo explosion. They clear out any competition that would be better or smarter. So what happens when they clear out or in the odd case they get primaried is AOC.

65 tops, 8-10 years total elected service.

      1. I like it, worst case 12 years for 2 Senate terms, Joe Biden would have been gone during Reagan’s first term

  4. Two major driving forces of human nature are greed and a lust for power. After you have more money than you have any real idea what to do with, your next avenue to be significant in any way is to push people around. Be in charge, so to speak.

These people have built a career on making their wishes reality, on manipulating the political scene for their own self aggrandizement. There is no way they will stop doing so at any time.

Add to that, unless Pelosi gets primaried, she is assured re-election, regardless of what a F-up she is. Biden will get 47%+ of the vote, no matter what. There are too many people who will vote for whatever candidate has a (D) after their name because of their perception of conservatives. As Pelosi noted once, a glass of water with a (D) following their name could have gotten elected in AOC’s district.

  5. Yep, lust for power and greed. Just being a part of the congressional machine and rubbing elbows with the right folks makes you a millionaire in short order. Then you have the lifers and control freaks (on both sides of the aisle). Pelosi is the worst of them.

I don’t think anyone truly believes that 40+ years in public service has anything to do with the public. Term limits would certainly take care of this, but again the people vote for this shit.

At their age, there is a pretty good chance they are gonna stroke out live on TV. I guess high TV ratings will be their final contribution.

  6. The same group that started out their political career during the Vietnam war is still there, and still making a soup show out of everything they touch. They make the rules, it is awfully hard to change the rules to work against them, but it needs to happen
