Saw this meme over at The Feral Irishman:

I went to look and according to Cash Box, it was Billy Preston’s “Nothing from Nothing” and according to Billboard it was Olivia Newton John’s “I Honestly Love You.” Bad news: I could never stomach Billy Preston and I don’t even recall that song from ONJ.

There was a full album in 1974, not just a song that more than “defined,” it cemented my musical inclination. It came out in May and i think I was playing it almost daily the rest of that year:

Besides, I firmly believe you just don’t have one single solitary piece of music that rocks you, specially if your tastes are eclectic as mine.

Semi-retired like Vito Corleone before the heart attack. Consiglieri to J.Kb and AWA. I lived in a Gun Control Paradise: It sucked and got people killed. I do believe that Freedom scares the political elites.

  1. I’m with you there. All those great songs in 1964 and I got Rag Doll by The Four Seasons, a group I always found annoying.

  2. Blinded by the light by Manfred Mann or Torn between two lovers by Mary McGregor. Not bad choices but not great.

  3. According to the NY Public Library, Ring my Bell by Anita Ward, but I will claim Accidents Will Happen by Elvis Costello, or Clampdown by The Clash since Armed Forces and London Calling are the first two albums from 1979 that come to mind

    1. After further research the UK #1 was,Are Friends Electric by Gary Numan which I will gladly own
