Surrender

Everytown and MDA have posted the same quote by an ISIS fighter on their respective Facebook pages.

isis 2 isis 1

ISIS scored victories against the United States and the West with the Pulse night club shooting.  Before ISIS congealed from the more nebulous body of Radical Islam, Islamism was the cause of the San Bernardino shooting, Ft. Hood shooting, and National Guard Recruiting Office Shooting, and others.

In each of these cases, the terrorist was able to legally buy a gun because they passed background checks.  We know that universal background checks won’t stop a law abiding radicalized citizen from buying a gun.  Everytown and MDA had caught on to this.  Now they are using ISIS’s words to scare us into gun restrictions.  Note how there is no call for background checks in their posts.

Using a quote by a terrorist to make us restrict our Civil Liberties seems like… helping the terrorist win.  Isn’t the purpose of terrorism to scare us into abandoning our freedoms and way of life?

Since Everytown and MDA are calling for a restriction of Constitutional liberties in the face of ISIS recruitment, may I make some other suggestions.

We know that ISIS uses social media as a recruiting tool.  There was no Facebook or Twitter when the Founding Fathers wrote the First Amendment, lets shut those down.

Speaking of the First Amendment, we know that some Muslim scholars don’t like to play well with the West.  Let’s put FBI agents in Mosques to monitor what the Imams say and do.

If the issue of domestic terrorism gets really bad, Korematsu v. United States made it clear that it wasn’t a violation of the Constitution to inter Americans during a time of war under strict scrutiny.

I mean, if we’re going to violate people’s rights to keep us safe from ISIS, we KNOW what the profile is of people that join ISIS: Muslim men, age 16-45.  That is a lot smaller a group to deal with than the 150 Million plus law abiding US gun owners.

Then again, I guess that won’t fly with the people over at Everytown and MDA.  What we saw after the Pulse shooting and then again at the DNC and BLM (which totally supports Palestinian Solitary but has no problem shutting down Gay Pride)  is that gays are no longer the most protected class in Liberal America.  We also know that Liberal Democrats have embraced antisemitism as a party platform.  American Muslims and Muslim refugees are far higher up on the Oppression Olympics board than white gay man and Jews.  Even as Liberals complain about rape culture on college campuses, they want to bring in tens of thousands of Muslim Refugees, who we know are causing the rape crisis in Europe.

Maybe what we need to do is outlaw homosexuality, get rid of the Jews, and force women to cover up.  That way our way of life won’t offend the delicate sensibilities of ISIS and they will stop attacking us.  Why not have Obama just do one final Lame Duck executive order and declare the US an Islamic Nation.  Sure, that may be a violation of the First Amendment’s prohibition of the establishment of a religion (to be fair to Obama the 1A says “Congress shall not” which leaves the door open for the President to do so – I think Justice Roberts would agree with me on that), but it would really take the wind out of ISIS’s sails.

If we have to break a few eggs to make a safe omelet, at least break the ones that count.

OR

Maybe we don’t let ISIS dictate American civil liberties.

reflections of an 07

Hey y all. Been wicked busy with my “real” job. I will have some more chrome shop stuff for ya soon.

Mean while a few thoughts:  America, what does it mean to YOU? Think about this question before you answer it, seriously think.

The mass media hysteria is dominating everything and easily leading people astray so they miss what is really going on. Look around you, do you want to lose everything? This , whether we like it or not is a fight for America.  The ones in power want to stay in power and they dont give a royal rip about us. It is time to get involved, speak up. Back story- the state where I live has no helmet law for motorcycles, has for ever. Years ago,  some buddies and I were bullshitting and joking around after a ride. Some one brought up helmet laws and a guy said, “they will put helmets on us soon enough”.. RIGHT, with THAT attitude they will.. point? We can not sit here and whine and bitch and do nothing. Get out and talk to everyone. Stop watching the “news” most of all stop BELIVING  the news. No Trump is not a great choice..but whats the alternitive?  My only fear is he is a plant to ensure you know who gets in office. Remember the phone call?  Start in your local, got a mouthy dem? Vote them out. State senators? Vote them out. Stop letting dems get their way, speak out. For Gods sake, now we have people whining about the Gadson flag is “racist” because Gadson owned slaves.. start waving it!! Nuff said… out here.

The Liberty Zone blog has moved.

Hopefully temporarily. The ass**les at DROA messed up her domain expiration warning and went full squatter on her. She will be working out of thelibertyzone.us until shit is back to normal.

And I pity the souls of the jackasses at Domain Registry of America. You really don’t want to have that woman as enemy. Lucretia Borgia was Mother Teresa in comparison.

Concealed Carry: Race, Sex Show Increasing Diversity | National Review

This is a complicated area, but it seems important to note that as the cost of obtaining a carry permit has dropped in Texas, the pool of carriers has become more diverse. “The growth in permit-holding by Asians, blacks, and American Indians,” writes Lott, “was by far the fastest after the minimum training requirements were reduced from 10 hours to four in 2013 . . . reducing the cost of obtaining permits seems to have had its biggest impact on minorities.”

Source: Concealed Carry: Race, Sex Show Increasing Diversity | National Review

Wait, what? What are those minorities doing? Don’t they now that owning guns means you are a KKK member who wants to kill Negroes and Jooos?

Florida does not carry stats by race, only by sex. The numbers have been steady for a couple of years or so at 76% males and 24% females out of the 1,598,213 valid licenses. That means 399,553 women in Florida went through the process of buying a firearm, getting training, paid the fee, got photographed and fingerprinted. Moms Demand Facebook page, that only requires one click of a mouse, has 531.193 “Likes” for the whole country.

Clearly the devotion is on one side.

Dumb and dumberer or why is always important to dig deeper.

I read J. Kb’s post Dumb and Dumber and I decided to go deeper into the examples given in the original article. The Mic.com article  If You Can’t Drink and Drive, You Probably Shouldn’t Drink and Carry a Gun, Either.  post 12 cases of alcohol and guns with bad consequences and I went ahead and went a bit deeper into each case:

1. Drunk man shoots restaurant owner (New York)

Right out of the bat, this one stinks. NYC, really? Who carries in the Big Apple? Cops, those who can afford and have the connections to get a permit and the criminal element. Sorry Mic.com, your exasperation towards legal Concealed Carriers falls flat with this example. Five gives you ten the perp is a criminal.

2. Intoxicated man shoots woman during a movie (Washington)

This one I had to do research because the linked article fails to give decent information. I had to do the research for them.

King County prosecutors on Tuesday charged a 29-year-old Newcastle man with third-degree assault, accusing him of criminal negligence for allegedly discharging a 9- mm handgun inside a Renton movie theater last week, injuring a woman seated in front of him.Dane Gallion, who had a concealed-pistol license, was ordered by a judge to surrender his firearms and not to consume alcohol or nonprescribed drugs as conditions of his bail, charging papers say.

So they have one incident. Let’s keep going.

3. Drunk man shoots friend… (Ohio)

This one did not take much. The original link gives a rather short story without much background, but further checking reveals the shooter is a felon and thus forbidden by law to own a firearm… not that he cared.

4. Drunk man shoots his dog… (South Dakota)

This looks like a straight idiot and deserving of charges, but no search turned out where the event happened. If he was at his home, then it was not a concealed carry under the influence event as Mic.com tries to insinuate.

5. Drunk man shoots his dog (Georgia)

This one is easy because they already provided the unintentional correction.

“Police found the dog in a trash can. According to neighbors, the man frequently got drunk and fired a gun on his property.”

If you read the article, you find out the “concealed” weapon in question was a shotgun.

6. Drunk woman mistakenly shoots her husband (Michigan)

According to Mic.com:

She reportedly thought he was an intruder and shot him in the shoulder

Which again means she was not out having a night out with friends and carrying loaded on both senses, but at home. I checked other sources and they all say pretty much the same:

St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department officials said Connie Tolbert, 54, was taken into custody after she allegedly shot her husband, 52-year-old Darryl Tolbert, at their residence. He is the pastor at Bethel Baptist Church in Three Rivers.

Source: Tolbert Arrested For Shooting – WLKM Radio 95.9 FM

7. Drunk man shoots his two sons… (North Carolina)

Sad case. The man shot the kids and then tried to off himself…at home. I am starting to detect a pattern from Mic.com

8. Drunk man shoots himself… (Nebraska)

This one did not happen at home but inside a car. But again Mic.com should have checked deeper as the “victim” is felon who is now in prison for having the gun in the first place.

9. Drunk man shoots himself… (Nebraska)

The article is so badly written, you can’t figure out where did the event happen or gives me enough clues to figure out who did what.

10. Drunk man shoots himself… (Connecticut)

The dumbass author did not bother to read the article he linked to his example:

Maldonado was dropped off at the emergency room and police said they responded a little after 10 a.m.Possession of a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm and unlawful discharge are the charges Maldonado–who is a convicted felon–face.

Source: Intoxicated Man Shoots Self in Hand While Buying Firearm: Police | NBC Connecticut

Apparently, scrolling down is hard work.

11. Drunk man shoots at snow plow driver… (Massachusetts)

I am going to give this one a “neutral” because it did happen outside the home (while driving) although the descriptions are in conflict in different articles. No mention if the guy actually has a permit to carry for Mass.

12. Drunk man threatens pub customers with a gun… (Connecticut)

They managed to find another case where the idjit had permit for the gun! But the link provided does not give that information, I had to find it in another source.

There you have it. On the premise of the article, the author can only find 2 examples out of 12 where people with concealed carry permits broke the law. That is a 16.66% accuracy or what passes for semi-serious journalism nowadays.

Dumb and dumber

Mic.com is a news* media site that targets millenials and is intended to compete with Gawker and BuzzFeed.  Like Gawker and BuzzFeed it leans hard left, has a generous seasoning of Social Justice, and its articles are generally poorly thought out.

*I used the term “news” very generously in this sentence.  This is the same site that claimed that calling chocolate sprinkles “Chocolate Jimmies” is racist, despite no evidence of racist origins of the name Jimmies. because some people believe the urban legend that it has a racist origin.  So yeah… news.

I caught a repost of a Mic article over at Everytown’s Facebook Page, “If You Can’t Drink and Drive, You Probably Shouldn’t Drink and Carry a Gun, Either.”  The article tries to sound like it is preaching common sense, you shouldn’t drink and use a gun.  That is a very good and reasonable stance to take.  Don’t drink and drive, don’t drink and boat, don’t drink and shoot.

However the article goes on to talk about the number of states that allow concealed in places that serve alcohol, bars and restaurants that serve alcohol.

Miguel and I have touched on this before.  I don’t believe that if a person is going to drink, they should be carrying.  It is just irresponsible.  However, I am a big believer in the “designated driver exemption” in which I would like to see states that prohibit carrying in bars make an exemption for a person who is not drinking.  Make it enforceable with a breathalyzer.  I’ll accept that.  Blow anything other than a 0.0 and your CCW permit gets suspended.  Do it again and you lose it permanently.

I have felt this way for years, since some friends and I got hassled by some people in a bar in South Dakota during the Rally.  Some bikers didn’t like that some college kids were hanging out at the bar they decided they wanted to hang out in (we were locals, they were in for the Rally).  They picked a fight, we got the manager to toss them out.  They waited in the parking lot for us to leave and a fight broke out.  Because of SD law, I couldn’t carry in the bar even thought I was the DD.

The article doesn’t address the idea of people with CCWs not drinking.  I lived in Indiana, which has  a no guns in bars law.  There you can go into the TGI Friday’s with your gun to eat, but you can’t sit at the bar.  So there are all sorts of gray areas like this were CCW permit holders can be responsible and still be in a place where alcohol is served.

But the article, instead, goes into several horror stories of drunk people shooting others.  Although, none of the examples they used seems to be CCW holders.  I agree, don’t drink and use guns.  But if you are not drinking, why should you be obligated to give up your right to defend yourself.

I got to the end of the article and saw a link for another Mic article that seemed so dumb and anti-gun that it made the one I just read almost seem sensible: 9 Foods That Are Harder to Buy Than a Gun.

This was so poorly thought out, so beyond ridiculous, it seems like an Onion response to President Obama’s “easier to buy a gun than fresh vegetable” statement.  Except that this is supposed to be a real new site.

I couldn’t let some of these idiocies go:

cronut

First of all, would never wait in line for two and a half hours for a donut.  But I have waited that long for Cabela’s to process a Form 4473 during a Black Friday sale.  So this is total bullshit.

pappy

Because that’s a totally fair, not in any way apples to oranges, comparison… How about Pappy Van Winkle vs. a Remington Model 700 200th Anniversary edition which only 2016 will be made.   Now tell me which one is harder to get.

martini

A better guns vs. booze comparison, but not by much.  Yes, you have to be 21 to purchase booze from a place that has a liquor licence.  You also have to be 21 to buy a handgun from an FFL.  Also, no, a child can’t OWN a gun.  They can use one under the supervision of a parent.  But why let little details like that get in the way.

bass

The laws regarding the sale of Chilean Sea Bass (or Antarctic Toothfish) apply to commercial fishing boats.  Commercial fishing is highly regulated.  So are commercial gun sales.  Not “anyone” can sell guns online as a business.  You have to have an FFL to do that, which requires a lot of compliance with the ATF.

There are several other comparisons which are just as bad.  Not one has an honest explanation of the law.  They are lies and distortions meant to scare millennial hipsters.

National Gun Victims Action Council does it again.

NGVAC Eric Trump

So let’s begin with the sexual harassment thing. What did he say that is having Raw Story in such uproar?

Eric Trump was responding to a comment his father made in a USA Today piece, in which he said that his daughter Ivanka would either find a different career or job if she was harassed in the workplace.“I think what he’s saying is, Ivanka is a strong, powerful woman, she wouldn’t allow herself to be objected to it,” the younger Trump said. “And by the way, you should take it up with Human Resources, and I think she would as a strong person, at the same time, I don’t think she would allow herself to be subjected to that. I think that’s a point he was making, and I think he did so well.”

Source: Eric Trump suggests women invite sexual harassment — and women invite him to go f*ck himself

Apparently saying that his sister is a strong woman and that women should talk to Human Resources in case of harassment is a bad thing. Who knew? Now let’s check the other statement and NGVAC’s comments:

NGVAC Eric Trump 2

I was amazed that some outfit in Indiana managed to import African leopards for canned huntings as that would be illegal as hell and they would not allow anybody to be taking pictures and publishing them online. So I did a bit of research and came with the website where the picture came from:

NGVAC Eric Trump 3

So unless there is an Indiana Hunting Ranch in Africa, the good folks at the National Gun Victims Action Council are once again engaged in full BS spreading with chances of turds.

If your cause is righteous, why lie?

And folks, it is not going to get any better until after the elections. get ready.
