The need for an equalizer

From the NY Post:

Nursing student Laken Riley tried to call 911 before deadly encounter with migrant: cops

Nursing student Laken Riley desperately tried to call 911 last week when a Venezuelan migrant pounced on her during a morning run, it was revealed Wednesday.

Police documents show that Jose Antonio Ibarra, 26, prevented the 22-year-old from dialing the emergency helpline before he dragged her body to a secluded area after the vicious attack.

Ibarra then panicked and likely bashed in her skull when Riley bravely tried to fight back, according to an analysis by a former criminal profiler. Riley was found hours later on the University of Georgia campus with a disfigured skull. She died of blunt-force trauma.

The gruesome details of her injuries in new warrants suggest that the Augusta University College of Nursing student likely fought back when she was grabbed during a run — and her killer likely panicked while trying to subdue her.

“In this case, the offender was met with resistance which he wasn’t expecting, and it got overpowering and he couldn’t control it and he resorted to violence,” John Lang Jr., a former Georgia Bureau of Investigation investigator, told WSB-TV.

“He’s not a very big fellow and he may have been overwhelmed by her size and her strengths and tenacity to fight back.”

It didn’t matter that Ibarra wasn’t a big fellow, Riley wasn’t big enough and strong enough to fight him off bare handed.

And it didn’t matter that Ibarra wasn’t a big fellow, he was big enough to bash in the skull of a 22-year-old woman.

What makes a 22-year-old woman able to effectively resist a man is an equalizer, and there is no more effective an equalizer than a loaded pistol.

Like I said earlier today, Venezuela is flushing its toilets into the US.

So is the rest of South America, Africa, the Middle East, and China.

We have men coming in who are violent predators and do not have any cultural or moral compunction against raping and beating women.

Equalizing themselves against men like that needs to be a priority for women.

Get a carry permit, get a gun, learn to use it, carry everywhere.

A pogrom in Berkeley

That’s a Jew-hunt.

Get out of states that won’t let you carry a gun, get armed, and be prepared.

It’s only going to get worse.

Flushed the toilets of Venezuela

As a Miami boy, born in the 1980s, I am familiar with waves of Cuban migrants coming to the United States.

In 1980, Fidel Casto began to empty Cuban prisons and ship them with refugees to Florida.

He famously said, “I have flushed the toilets of Cuba in the United States.”

Today, it’s Venezuela that is flushing its toilets into the United States.

Venezuela’s Violent Deaths Fall to 22-Year Low on Migration

Venezuela’s rate of violent deaths dropped to its lowest level in more than two decades following years of massive migration as both criminals and victims fled the nation’s economic crisis.

The Venezuelan Violence Observatory registered 26.8 violent deaths per 100,000 inhabitants this year from a rate of 35.3 for every 100,000 habitants in 2022, Roberto Briceño León, director of the Observatory, said in a webcast Thursday. That’s its lowest since 2001 and is one-third of what it was in 2016, he added.

Young people, who have traditionally been the main victims of violence, have fled, while criminals and gangs have emigrated due to the lack of opportunities to commit crimes, according to Briceño León.

And let’s see how that has played put for the United States.

Laken Riley murder: Immigration attorney explains suspect’s path from Venezuela to Georgia

Answers are surfacing about how Jose Ibarra, 26, managed to get into the United States, get arrested in New York, and make it to Georgia where police accuse him of murdering Laken Riley.

Riley, 22, was attacked while she was running on the University of Georgia’s intramural fields Thursday, according to the UGA Police Department.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued the following statement on Sunday that said, “U.S. Customs and Border Protection arrested Ibarra Sept. 8, 2022, after he unlawfully entered the United States near El Paso, Texas. He was paroled and released for further processing.”

He said once there, the immigrant is expected to follow up to obtain proper documentation through the court system.

Instead, ICE said Ibarra ended up getting arrested in New York a year later.

Officers said he was driving in an uninsured, unregistered car with a 5-year-old and was charged with acting in a manner to injure a child.

ICE said in a statement, “He was released by the NYPD before a detainer could be issued.”

This is not Venezuela’s best and brights, coming here to be successful in America.

This is a career criminal who got flushed here to be America’s problem.

Venezuela’s currently president is Nicolas Maduro, former VP to Hugo Chavez, and Chavez was buddy-buddy with Castro.

It’s not at all difficult to understand how this situation came to be.

So it makes perfect sense that Venezuela’s violent crimes are dropping, because the violent criminals are here now.

The worst part is that half of the American government is on board with this policy, evident that they refuse to send these criminals back.

It’s only going to get worse.

Kershaw – Select Fire

This is about a week after I received the knife. So still in the early days.

First, notice that I call it a “knife”. That is because it is a knife first, a multi-tool second. This means it can replace my Cold Steel blade.

It is noticeably lighter than the Cold Steel blade. It is also a bit shorter, about a half inch shorter. Which is one of the reasons it is lighter.

The Cold Steel has metal slabs. This makes it stronger? It does make it heavier. The slaps have finger divots, making it easy to grip.

The Select Fire has a metal interior but a plastic exterior. It has good fitment and comfortable ergonomics. No finger grooves or divots but the shape is such that I’m not concerned that it will slip will using it.

I did something unusual and read the directions. It gave the edge bevel. This is helpful for those that sharpen their own knives. The blade arrived sharp. Kershaw offers free sharpening services for their blades.

The edge is not polished nor is it hair whittling sharp. It is a good functional edge.

The pocket clip is my only issue, so far. It is so tight that I can’t get it to clip to my pockets, in all cases.

The other issue is that because of the design, I can not carry it point up. I adjusted my Cold Steel to clip point up. This means that as the knife comes out of my pocket, it is in the correct orientation to deploy.

The Kershaw can only be carried point down. This is taking a bit of training on my part to learn how to retrieve the knife and deploy it.

So what makes the Select Fire a multi-tool? A bit socket. The shaft is 2 inches long and has a standard hex 1/4in socket at the end. It has a magnet to hold the bits in place.

The socket rod has three positive detents. One is full close, one is ninety degrees and one is 180 degrees. They are strong detents, moving close to “am I going to break something” when I first started working with it.

This give you a good 1/4 driver, which for me is a big plus as it is the standard screw head size for many items, like dishwashers, washing machines, furnaces and others.

There is onboard storage for 4 standard bits. Two per side. The holders are spring loaded to hold them closed. The bit holders are firm but not stupid tight. Bits move in and out with little effort but I don’t think they would “just slide out”.

When the carrier is closed, there is no space for the bits to slide out. They are stopped by the knife body.

It comes with a PH1, PH2, 5mm slot, and 7mm slot bits. I will be replacing the slotted with a gunsmithing version. I will replace the other slot with a Ph0. Ph0 is used for many electronics.

So far, I’m impressed and happy with the knife/tool. I might write a follow up in a 6 plus months, but for now, this is an acceptable replacement knife.

Oh, the one thing I would not use it for is processing game. It has too many places where blood and tissue could get. Since I have knives for game processing, this is not an issue, for me.

Now that is some creative bull***t right there.

I am impressed.
