For those that don’t know, very orthodox or conservative Jews are prohibited from doing work on the Sabbath. In old times, a “Shabbos Goy”, a gentile, was employed to come and light the lamps in the synagogues on the Sabbath so the Rabbi or congregants didn’t break the restrictions. In modern times, the same applies to driving or using machines.
So He’s the one to call when you absolutely MUST to run your dishwasher on the Sabbath. I personally think that’s hilarious.

The WSJ had an op-ed a few weeks ago about Joe Lieberman (just after he died). It mentioned that he always walked to/from the Capitol if a session overlapped with the Sabbath.

I can’t see how “guy” could be there. It’s “goy” or “gay”.
