Yesterday we had an Abolish Ice moment near the DHS facility in Miramar, Fl.  The selection of the on location in itself is curious as the building is not a big one. It seems to be an administrative office than anything else: no babies in cages after being ripped of the arms of mothers or exaggerated BS like that.  In fact, if have spent any amount of time in South Florida, you know that illegal aliens get taken to Krome detention center.  Now, why protest the closure of a location where there are probably no suffering masses of “undocumented immigrants?

Here is the ICE offices in Miramar. They are located close to major highways, Starbucks, Pollo Tropical and assorted eateries and capitalistic goodies:

Now, Krome Detention Center is another story.

That is in the Everglades and about a civilized it get is the indian casino, airboat tours and Trail Glades range where I have left many a bullet in its berms. It is a hot and humid and away as hell from the cities of Miami-Dade county. That  is where illegal aliens in South Florida are taking for processing, not a posh administration office tucked away in the suburbs of Broward County.

But the protestors knew that location is just an excuse. They are only interested in making noise and being published which they accomplished more or less. But it takes only a couple of minutes of observation and processing to see how ridiculous the whole thing was.

Let’s begin with the local population: It is 65% Hispanic.  That means you can get a bunch of Spanish-speaking/Brown looking individuals faster than an attitude in Starbucks. So how  many people attended this event for the Human Rights of the undocumented Aliens that were not nearby but 30 miles and another county away?

 Around 75 protesters were out in the area, while about eight or nine individuals worked to block the streets.
“We know that what we have seen is nothing compared to the hundreds and thousands of people who have been caged in the prisons, and also in the detention facilities,” said Cuna.

I am going to say that 75 protesters is probably an exaggeration and that the number was probably taken because I-75 runs nearby.

Obviously we need the chick with the hijab to lend credibility and protection from criticism to the event.

But there were a couple of flies in the Liberal ointment.

Not only they dared to show up with a Trump banner, this gentleman happened to be Hispanic! How dare he?

It goes back to the “secret” I have shared here time and again: East Coast Hispanics come mostly from the Caribbean and South America and are not and want nothing to do with the West Coast Hispanics of mostly Mexican origin.

So what we had was a small gathering of Socialist wannabes (You can get more people at a Quinceañera party announced overnight) trying to “raise awareness” and abolish country’s protection, but only as long as they were not but a couple of blocks away from an iced caramel machiatto with whipped cream and sprinkles.

But they got several million dollars of free advertising thanks to the Media who was willing to have their helicopters for more than an hour flying over the scene and only went away because of the torrential rains.

It is so nice to get free support to spread your lies from willing Media partners, isn’t?

I think even McThag would approve of this list.  Let’s start with a small list and do the Tax Collector for Franklin County. Do notice the red “NRA Endorsed” next to the name.

Florida’s 27 Congressional District freed from the fake Pro-Gun Ileana Ros-Lehtinen will probably is going to an F sporting Democrat.

 HOUSTON – Police say a husband opened fire on two home invasion suspects as they tried to hold his wife at gunpoint overnight.
This happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at a home in in southeast Houston near Scott and Airport.
According to the Houston Police Department, the husband managed to shoot one of the suspects in the head.
Investigators said it all started when the man’s wife pulled into their driveway Tuesday night. Then the two armed suspects jumped out and tried to rob her.
First, they took her purse, and then they tried to force her into the house. However, that is when her husband showed up.
He heard the commotion from inside, grabbed his gun and ended up exchanging gunfire with the intruders.

You gotta love happy endings. Kudos to hubby for awareness and accuracy.

And he better get the gun he wants for Christmas.

I can almost tell you what led to this very expensive towing bill: 1) Jeep was on 2WD rather than the recommended 4WD Low. 2) Not wearing the right tires for sand. 3) The driver was trying to do the stuff they do in commercials and splash ocean water because it looks cool.

Back in the time when Off-Roading was in black and white, we did go to remote beaches quite a lot but we had some basic tools and principles we followed. In tools, you carried chains and cables (we were too broke to afford winches), at least a shovel and something to slide under the tires if you ever got stuck like meter-long pieces of  2×4. As for principles, that was easy: Never EVER screw around where the sand gets wet and always be in 4WD Low.

You wanna know the funny part? Our tools were used to unstuck idiots that did not understand that just because you see it in the screen, it is a good idea to emulate.  Whatever pleasurable you see in TV or movies about the beach, it is probably wrong and that includes romance. How do I know? Don’t ask.

Off-Roading rides on the simple principle of returning to the point of origin without a minimum of trouble and hopefully without the assistance of a third party. That means you need to manage your assets and yourself. And preparation is a MUST as there are no service stations or auto part stores in the middle of nowhere. You take what could break with you and you better learn how to fix stuff if you planned to go home with your 4×4.

I eventually gave up Off-Roading because it was affecting my back. I had taken too many liberties with my vertebrae prior to going into the driving wild and it was starting to show with all the jumping you did on that stiff suspension.

I still miss it.

As I get older, I find my level of patience and stamina to deal mercifully with the insane bullshit coming from the Over Opposition crowing short. It is a good thing that we have the illustrative and fiery writing of J. Kb. to fill the spaces, but do not think I am immune at what is being attempted to do against our Country and I expressed it in Twitter last night.

Again, at my age, we don’t have the patience for stylistic foreplay. We want the shit fixed so we can sit back and relax in our porches, real or imagined.  You keep pushing for us being treated and terrorist and traitors, you are going to find themselves observing the details of a flash hider.

In the early 20th century research I am involved with, I am coming across news bits about women using firearms defending themselves and unfortunately using them also to settle the husband’s infidelity. But what it has left me even more shocked has been the number of wives and lovers whose lives ended tragically at the hands of husbands and boyfriends, some going as far as exterminating a family, babies included.

I wonder what happened that shifted the idea of self-reliance from the late 19th century to one of depending  on males and strangers for their security on the 20th.  Women had to be aware of their influence and it was them who moved the Temperance movement (yes, a mistake, but they managed to get the Volstead Act passed) and Suffragism.

The Ladies of the time got the country to be dry and they fought for their right to vote, but somewhere along the trip they lost the will to defend themselves? Who started the “Proper Ladies should not carry a gun and just faint in case of danger” bullcrap. This is something I would love to find out.
