“ZOMG! Delta Variant is infecting everyone!” (B.S. crosses states lines)

Tennessee shall soon be covered in snot-dripping zombies caused by the new Delta variant to the Wuhan Flu.

And just like that, a slumbering threat awakens again.

The rate of daily coronavirus infections in Tennessee has more than tripled in the past three weeks – one of the largest increases in the entire nation – as the virus shows signs of renewed spread. The state’s average test positivity rate and count of active infections also climbed sharply in the same time period.

Tennesseans have effectively opened the door for this spread, leaving themselves vulnerable to the return of the virus, by failing to take advantage of vaccines that have been free and accessible for months, said Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease expert at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

COVID-19 infections triple as Tennessee backs off vaccine outreach (dnj.com)

I have seen less drama in a Telenovela’s finale.  Since I got here, I noticed that the Left and the Media (but I repeat myself) have been on a bender about the Republican-led State not forcing young ones into vaccination and assorted other “DO THIS OR YOU DIE!” schemes. So basically I am not missing the DeSantis Derangement Syndrome at all but just the same BBQ with different sauce.

Infections mean squat. Anybody who has taken all but an hour of health classes in school knows that. The key indicator is deaths and if they have increased in any significant way and for that, in a very “newspaperish” and traditional manner, you have to go to the bottom of the article.

Fortunately, Tennessee’s increased infections have not translated into a rise in hospitalizations or deaths – at least, not yet. The state is still reporting single-digit hospitalizations and deaths from the virus each day, and these statistics have not increased in step with infection rates.

I have seen plenty of vaccination campaigns in my lifetime. And truthfully nothing so hamfisted and bullying as this Covid Vaccination drive, and I come from a Third World country where the rule of laws was always in the favor of the Government to impose its will on People. All the campaigns were not ordering but inviting people to be vaccinated (or bring the kids to have their series of vaccinations) to a convenient location near them. Sometimes week days were selected with work and school suspended for that day and region so people could attend. there was not a push or a browbeat or an organized campaign to shame people into getting vaccinated: Lots of people came and if you did not, Oh Well, your ass.

But what we have here is simply a push to prove assertion of power. You will do stuff we tell you not because of the “public good” but because they can get away with it, they can go away with proving they have power over you. It ain’t about health but spreading the  plague of little dictators about the land.

If you want to get the vaccine, do so. We got ours. You do not want to get the vaccine? Fine and dandy, we are still friends and we can hang and I am even willing to bet that unless you are past 65 and have managed to screw up your health and are just there by the Grace of God, you have a pretty good chance (98% I believe) you won’t die of this crap if you get infected.

And for those Karens in public service and private life: Shut the hell up and let people be. Stop trying to develop your own little fiefdoms may they be physical or in that sick real state inside your brain.  The laws and regulations you want to impose to control somebody else’s body and health will be used against you in the future because the Robespierre Principle is karma at its best.

Here comes the UN to destroy America

Not hyperbole.

Remember that the Special Rapporteur that investigated Israel came to the predetermined conclusion that Israel was an apartheid nation that committed war crimes, evidence to the contrary be dammed.

The Special Rapporteur investigating America will come to the predetermined conclusion that America is the most racist, most unequal, most evil country on earth, evidence to the contrary be dammed.

Then the Biden Administration will be forced to invite the UN to do something about it, which means handing over sovereignty to a bureaucratic cesspool that hates us and wants to take us down.

This is a plan to destroy America straight from our Secretary of State.

As a gun owning Jew, I am disappointed with this bullsh*t.

Judge rules synagogue shooting victims can sue Smith & Wesson

A San Diego judge ruled last week that the survivors and families of victims of a 2019 shooting at a California synagogue can sue Smith & Wesson, the manufacturer of the weapon used in the incident, in addition to the gun store that sold it.

Reuters reported that San Diego Superior Court Judge Kenneth Medel dismissed a claim from Smith & Wesson that the lawsuit was not permitted based on the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), a regulation that protects gunmakers and sellers from some responsibility when their products are used for crimes.

An accused gunman, later identified as John Earnest, who was 19 at the time of the incident, opened fire at the Chabad of Poway Synagogue in Poway, Calif., in April 2019, killing one worshiper and injuring three other people, including a rabbi and an 8-year-old, according to The Washington Post.

The plaintiffs filed a lawsuit in June 2020 claiming that Smith & Wesson breached state law by manufacturing the M&P15 rifle to be easily changed into an assault weapon, Reuters reported.

The “M&P” in the name of the gun reportedly stands for “Military and Police,” even though they were largely sold to civilians, according to Reuters.

The lawsuit claimed that the company used marketing tactics “that attracted impulsive young men with military complexes who were particularly likely to be attracted to the unique ability of AR-15 style weapons,” according to the wire service.

They argued that potential mass shooters would be attracted to the marketing of the gun, including Earnest.

The judge determined that the legal action at hand was under an exception to the PLCAA that permits lawsuits to be filed against gun manufacturers or sellers when state law is breached, according to Reuters. He said the lawsuit argues that the the company violated California’s Unfair Competition Law, which prohibits deceptive marketing, thus being eligible for the PLCAA exception.

This is the exact same dubious logic that has allowed the Sandy Hook families to get around the PLCAA and sue Remington/Bushmaster.

It’s fucking bullshit is what it is.

A vicious Jew hater committed a horrible crime but Smith & Wesson didn’t make him do that.

This is an entirely partisan bullshit case that is being allowed to go forward in an anti-gun state for political reasons.

And looking at the comments online, this is inviting the pro-gun crowd to anti-Semitism, which is really pissing me off.

The PLCAA exists for this exact reason and hyper partisan judges are doing everything they can to skirt it.

Fuck them.

And don’t let this be a nexus for Jew hatred.  Gun owning Jews are rare and we’re trying to increase our numbers.  Antisemitism from the pro-gun community won’t help.  This isn’t a Jewish thing, this is a Leftist activist Lawyer thing.  Don’t forget that.

It’s simple to understand – Cubans in South Florida vote Republican, Mexicans in California vote Democrat

Homeland Security chief says U.S. will not give refuge to those fleeing Cuba and Haiti by boat

People fleeing Cuba and Haiti by boat will not be allowed to enter the U.S., even if they demonstrate fear of being persecuted or tortured in their home countries, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas warned on Tuesday.

“Allow me to be clear: if you take to the sea, you will not come to the United States,” Mayorkas said, highlighting the dangers of traversing the Caribbean Sea and the Florida Straits by boat.

Mayorkas, a Cuban immigrant who fled the island with his family in 1960, issued his stern warning in the wake of seismic political events that have rocked Cuba and Haiti in recent days.

Mayorkas is a Democrat and as a Democrat his priority is to the Democrats and if that means allowing other Cubans to languish under Communism or suffer in other countries, making Cubans suffer under Communism to uphold the power of the party is the precedent of history.

Note how economic refugees from Central and South America are allowed to come across our southern border with little resistance.

It’s simple, Cuban refugees generally hate Communism and vote Republican.

Mexicans and Central Americans generally love government handouts and vote Democrat.

So, of course, our Refugee policy is designed not to help refugees but to boost partisan power in America.

“You are not helping” Files.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man who was upset with protestors who tried to tear down a controversial statue in Old Town had pled guilty to intimidating a witness who was going to testify agast the man who shot one of those protestors. The prosecution described Daniel Carr showing up at a witness’s home and threatening him if he testified against, Steven Baca, who police said opened fire at a protester after demonstrators vandalized the Juan de Onate statue last June.

Man pleads guilty to intimidating a witness in controversial statue incident

Although I admire the wish for activism, if you do not realize that our actions will be set a much stricter set of “rules” and face stiffer consequences than the Opposition, you better stay put and stop trying to “help.”

Even when the evidence against one of them is so overwhelming that they have plea guilty to serious felonies, the system is designed to come up with ssome sort of work-around to lessen the impact.

A man charged in the Lower Broadway fires set during rioting and unrest in Nashville in May of last year has been sentenced to 10 years, but has the possibility of an alternative sentence.

Ryan Keith Ray, 34, pleaded guilty on April 22 to charges of inciting a riot, burglary, vandalism over $60,000, theft of property over $2,500 and setting fire to personal property after breaking into Margaritaville and Big Time Boots, where police say he set a fire on May 30, 2020.

Judge Cheryl Blackburn sentenced Ray to 10 years, with the possibility of an alternative sentence after an evaluation by the Davidson County Community Corrections program.

Blackburn gave community corrections three weeks to evaluate and determine Ray’s eligibility for the program.

Man charged in Nashville riot sentenced to 10 years with possibility of alternative sentence

And we have seen this movie before and know how it ends: The arsonist not even serving a third of the sentence before being back on the streets. Any if it was one of us? Probably 10 full years before “enhancements” and at a hardcore institution.

Once again: Fight smart.

The Navy discovers Pournelle’s Iron Law of Bureaucracy

A reminder:

Pournelle’s Iron Law of Bureaucracy states that in any bureaucratic organization there will be two kinds of people”:

First, there will be those who are devoted to the goals of the organization. Examples are dedicated classroom teachers in an educational bureaucracy, many of the engineers and launch technicians and scientists at NASA, even some agricultural scientists and advisors in the former Soviet Union collective farming administration.

Secondly, there will be those dedicated to the organization itself. Examples are many of the administrators in the education system, many professors of education, many teachers union officials, much of the NASA headquarters staff, etc.

The Iron Law states that in every case the second group will gain and keep control of the organization. It will write the rules, and control promotions within the organization.

And the Iron Law of Bureaucracy sunk the US Navy.

From the Daily Mail:

‘Every officer is up to speed on diversity training. Not so much ship handling’: Scathing official report finds US Navy is too woke for war because of risk averse, politically correct, control-freak top brass

A scathing new report commissioned by members of Congress has claimed that the Navy’s surface warfare forces have systemic training and leadership issues, including a focus on diversity that overshadows basic readiness skills.

The report prepared by Marine Lt. Gen. Robert Schmidle and Rear Adm. Mark Montgomery, both retired, came in response to recent Naval disasters, including the burning of the USS Bonhomme Richard in San Diego, two collisions involving Navy ships in the Pacific and the surrender of two small craft to Iran.

The authors conducted hour-long interviews with 77 current and retired Navy officers, offering them anonymity to identify issues they wouldn’t feel comfortable raising in the chain of command.

The report found that a staggering 94 percent of the subjects believed the recent Naval disasters were ‘part of a broader problem in Navy culture or leadership.’

‘I guarantee you every unit in the Navy is up to speed on their diversity training. I’m sorry that I can’t say the same of their ship handling training,’ said one recently retired senior enlisted leader.

One of the key issues raised by the officers interviewed for the report was a concern that Navy leaders spend more time focusing on diversity training than on developing warfighting capacity and key operational skills.

‘Sometimes I think we care more about whether we have enough diversity officers than if we’ll survive a fight with the Chinese navy,’ lamented one lieutenant currently on active duty.

One recent destroyer captain said: ‘where someone puts their time shows what their priorities are. And we’ve got so many messages about X, Y, Z appreciation month, or sexual assault prevention, or you name it. We don’t even have close to that same level of emphasis on actual warfighting.’

The last naval battle in which the US fought was the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944.

Given that, it makes sense why the Navy has gone to shit.

Warfighting is hard.  Losing has real consequences.

Paperwork, by comparison, is much easier and definitely much lower risk.

It’s much less stressful to judge an officer for promotion using the metric “did he get all of his paperwork done on time?” than “what was his win to lose ratio in his last few war games.”

Then there is the cycle of personal enrichment.

The military needs money and defense contractors like getting money.

Politicians like getting elected and donations from defense contractors help make that happen.

Also stock, lobbying gigs, and board memberships help politician’s spouses and retired politicians make moneny.

So in the absence of an enemy actively killing your sailors, which is the path of least resistance:

Dedication to warfighting where constant drilling and wargames create a cadre of skilled strategists who have little time for bureaucratic bullshit and politics.

Or:

An officer class that becomes a bunch of bureaucratic weenies that excel in paperwork and serving the petty interests of politicians to keep a constant flow of money and people between DC, the Navy, and military contractors?

Of course, it’s in the best interests of some Commander, Captain, or Admiral to push the diversity training that some Member of Congress wants because that means said Member of Congress will authorize funds for the Navy to spend on some contractor, so the contractor will hire said Naval Officer when he retires and donate to said Member of Congress’ reelection campaign.

Now the Navy has come face-to-face with the fact that it is full of sailors who have no idea how to fight at sea (and most can’t even operate the ship with complete competence) but are masters of filling out government paperwork and completing menial bureaucratic tasks.

The real question are: do they have the impetus to change and are there enough warfighters left in the Navy to effectively serve as instructors or has that knowledge been relegated to being found only in history books?

This problem may be worse in the Navy but it affects all the branches.

Our Generals are far less interested in warfighting than getting a seven-figure deal as a media talking head or on the board of the contractor or think thank, and it shows.
