Chico State Athletics has come out with a series of “shaming” memes on what NOT to say to people. I found this one particularly funny:
If you are Spanish-impaired, allow me to share something with you. the word “Chico” in Spanish means “boy.” So by default, any black student in that school can be officially addressed as boy because of school spirit and stuff.
Of course, the school can go ahead, be truthfully PC and change his name to something non-triggering. The rests are as funny as this one in different categories. IE:

Of course, they probably have no clue that “retarded” is a perfectly cromulent word. An engine’s ignition or valve timing can be retarded. Paint can be retarded so as to dry/harden more slowly. I’m sure there are other usages, but that’s all that comes to mind ATM.
Gah — how could I forget this one, having been a bomber crewman? Bombs with ballutes/fins to drastically increase drag upon release are “retarded” bombs.

Except that “pussy” meaning weak does not come from a reference to female genitals.
Puus is the germanic word for cat. The suffix -y is a diminutive. Pussy therefore is more akin to kitten. A man who was a pussy was soft and weak like a kitten.
The genital slang came latter, as a reference to …. soft and furry.
They are chastising people for something while their etymology is wrong.

Pussy, when used in that context, is short for Pusillanimous. Defined as being cowardly or weak. I learned that in High School. The level of ignorance continues to amaze me.
Sadly definitions change because of lazy ignorance. Look at “literally”, people use it when the mean “figuratively” and now literally means literally AND figuratively
I don’t say “you’re a dick” because a part of a man’s body should never be used as a connotation for being a jerk. I say “you’re an asshole” instead. It’s gender neutral.
