Florida Gun Owners did not have a presence, but guess who did have people present?
All the people who stood up to talk to the committee were dead set against the bill portion to allow teachers to volunteer. The gist was “Yes it is voluntary, but screw them, I am too afraid/full of crap for my fellow teachers to have a choice.” and the ever popular “but we may shoot a kid by mistake!” ignoring the fact that kids are dropping left and right.
No Florida Gun Right Groups, no Florida Gun Owners.
That is shameful.

PS: The “We have to work” excuse is already worn thin.
Taking care of The Boy ties me to the area without much prior planning.
But I don’t claim to be a gun rights organization, where my job is literally to show up at the capitol and speak on behalf of gun owners.
I understand if lot of people can’t show up, I am on the other effng side of the state. But I do refuse to believe we cannot find five guys in the 25 mile radius of the legislature to show up and wave the gun rights flag.
I completely understand your frustration. I am not a FL resident, but the situation is the same in other states. People will complain about the regressive left’s destruction of the country, but can’t be bothered to show up for legislative meetings. They can’t be bothered to call, email, and/or pester their congress critters. They can’t be bothered to stand up to the fascist MDA when they canvass their lies. They can’t be bothered to volunteer, or even just join their local civil rights groups fighting this stupidity. They can’t be bothered to freaking VOTE.
But they can DAMN SURE sit around and BS about the latest episode of Game of Thrones, or talk about some stupid crap on Twitter. They can ALWAYS find time to whine about the regressive left, but can never find time to fight them.
This is partially why I see conflict as inevitable at this point. People sit around not being proactive until it is too late to peacefully contribute. It doesn’t have to be this way. It shouldn’t be this way. But it is what it is.
