In a nutshell, COVID protocols and the unemployment benefits have wiped out the nation’s supply of dock workers and people to unload and transport cargo.

So all that stuff is just sitting there waiting to be unloaded but there is no one to do it.

I’m getting the feeling this was a feature not a bug and collapsing the global economy was the goal.

If it wasn’t,  they could suspend the restrictions and solve this fast.  But they don’t.

  1. Again, this is an example of the twisted insanity our “voting” has become. What would happen if these ships just came in and unliaded with scab crews?? Why do We the People continue to cow tow to the gubmint? All the goddam liberals with thier “resist” movement against Trump. Wheres our “resistance “??? America just sits here and gets fukked by the big blue and does nothing… we get a decent group in office and America come roarin back. We the People enjoy everything we should and develope poor memories…. MAYBE. THIS time America is as fukkin tired of these blue assed idiots gang fukkin America to death that MAYBE we will “ take back the house and senate”. THEN We the People need to be on the phone EVERY day to thise spineless pussy republicans and make sure they fukkin DO something this time…

  2. No doubt the PTB’s are trying to benefit from this but the lack of ability to get this stuff to market is also driven very much by demography.

The average age of a casual dock worker is nearly 50 and no doubt the full timers are getting long in the tooth as well . Truckers are the same and both types of workers are in short supply anyway.

They simply can’t and won’t pull extra long shifts as there aren’t enough of them and they are too old to do it.

A little less regulation will help but its not caused by that either, Simply no babies were born, the ones that were found better work

This is something we are just going to have to get used to low, low fertility even with immigration means population aging in all groups and less people willing to do the Dirty Jobs as Mike Rowe would put it.

  3. I honestly don’t think this is deliberate, because this is hurting China as much or more than the rest of the world. All that container backup means that they can’t ship their crap to the US, or other locations.
Now, if we had a competent president, this would be the perfect opportunity to move more manufacturing back to the USA- something that was happening with the Mean Tweets dude.
But Fuddlebrain Hairsniff McIcecreamlick got in, and we find that his cabal of minders aren’t Machiavellian chessmaster supergenuses. Those don’t exist.

  4. The Longshoremen and other related unions are also refusing to move to a seven-day, three-shift working schedule.

Even when the Port of Los Angeles is operating, it’s not doing so with much efficiency. It’s the busiest port in the United States, But shuts down for eight hours on most days and is closed entirely on Sundays.

      1. It is the norm. The United States is the only place on earth where shipping terminals that handle high amounts of traffic operates on bankers hours.

      2. Coulden’t they hire more employees so that everyone still gets a 40 hr work week? I mean it would require hiring more employees but at least the ports could work 24/7 that way. I certainly wouldn’t want to “temporarily” agree to no days off or extra work hours as it wouldn’t go away but surly it would mean more money for the ports if they had the manpower to keep open all day every day as well as being more members for the union as well.

  5. Another thing is- I work with a pyrotechnic company doing fireworks shows on the side. A container full of fireworks USED to cost a couple grand to get shipped. Now its $30GRAND for ONE container. Its almost as much to ship a container as buy whats inside….

  6. And I believe sir you are 100% Correct.

They couldn’t Prevent or Predict events.
    But…
The WAY Every Event has been handled or LACK there of..
That, that tells there story. The Whole Story.

    And it does so Truthfully.
It can only beTruthfull, because There Actions are The Truth.

  7. In the automotive industry, my company buys alot of components from China. I deal with this shit every day. Its frustrating. Even to fly stuff from overseas, there isn’t enough workers to unload the planes at the airports. It can take a week just to get material on a truck or another plane.

If this isn’t on purpose as a tool to collapse the economy and get more people on the government dole, the Biden admin sure isn’t doing shit to fix it. So they are at least ok with the status quo.
