Others not mentioned: I was born when there were 48 states. Never had color tv until I was a teenager. Eisenhower first year as president. Queen was crowned that year. Structure of DNA was a Nobel prize that year. I had a transistor radio, AM only. Our TV and our radio and our record player had vacuum tubes. There was a tube tester machine at the local store: you could find out which tube was bad, and buy a replacement. Tail fins were all the rage on cars. Gas was “regular” or “ethyl.”
There were no plastic trash bags. My first airplane flight was 4-engine propeller plane.
Just about every adult was in the service during WW2. There were no radial tires.
Etc, etc…..
We didn’t have color tv until I was a teenager either. We went to the neighbor’s house to watch the Apollo launches and landings because they did have a color tv.
Wasn’t till 1976 when the old black and white finally died that we got a color tv.
