Regular readers of this blog know just how much contempt I have for the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Scott Israel.
As it turns out, the failure of him and his department to protect the kids at MSD High was the norm and not the exception.
This thread is from Twitter. I’m sorry it is so long, I will skip some of the middle and stick with the important parts.
This is going to be an uncomfortable thread for me to write, but I’m getting nowhere with official channels, so I have to turn to social media.
In Feb 2017, my 14 y/o daughter was molested by an 18 y/o boy while on a “chaperoned” @FIRSTweets robotics competition trip.
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
When I discovered the 18 y/o boy was grooming my daughter, asking for pics and showing her his erect penis, I was obviously upset and immediately called @JSOPIO. When I tried to file a report they tried to discourage me by saying my daughter could face child porn charges.
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
I balked at the notion and asked for someone from sex crimes to take a report, preferably a female officer. @JSOPIO wouldn’t investigate because the boy lived in Clay County and told me to contact @CCSOFLSheriff. Which I did.
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
Surprisingly, @ccsofl also tried to discourage me from filing a molestation report by telling me the same thing about my daughter and child porn. When I wasn’t deterred, they pawned off responsibility back to @JSOPIO because we live in Duval County.
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
This back and forth between @JSOPIO and @ccsofl went on for a couple of days until I threatened to contact the media. Then, JSO sent out a male patrol officer and his female trainee, both unqualified in sex crimes – juvenile or otherwise.
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
The @JSOPIO officer (male) wanted to look at the pictures on my daughter’s phone, to which I said absolutely not. Reluctantly, I allowed the female trainee to view the evidence. Her response, “Did you want him to touch you?” Unbelievable.
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
After teaching the @JSOPIO officers about underage victim laws & rights, they agreed to file a report and took the phone in as evidence. That was early-March 2017. It took several more weeks until I had to follow up for info, no one contacted us during that time.
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
Eventually, @JSOPIO turned the evidence over to @ccsofl where a nice detective w/years of experience in juvenile sex crimes was assigned the case. He brought us in, took her statement, told us what he was going to look for on the phone and I signed off.
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
I’m grateful for that @ccsofl detective and the active interest he took in my daughter’s case. After the initial investigation, it was determined that a crime was committed by the 18 y/o boy but because it occurred in Orlando, @OrangeCoSheriff would need to handle it.
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
The case, evidence and report (including the phone) were allegedly given by @ccsofl to the @OrangeCoSheriff where they promptly lost it. 7 months later, after dozens of phone calls by me, the phone/evidence was found…IN THE PROPERTY ROOM AT @ccsofl! Unreal.
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
Turns out, the female sergeant at @OrangeCoSheriff moved divisions and didn’t bother giving my daughter’s case to anyone. Nice work guys. Had I not followed up (continuously)then everything would have fallen (further) into limbo.
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
At this point, we are 11 months into this process and no one outside of the nice @ccsofl detective has given a crap about it or her. Turns out, he’s moving divisions as well and called me to follow up. He was aghast to learn nothing had been done by the @OrangeCoSheriff.
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
He reached out to the @OrangeCoSheriff on my behalf but still, they didn’t respond. It wasn’t until a friend in the media reached out to their PR dept that suddenly, they were interested in the case. We’re now 12 months into this process, at this point.
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
I’m told by the @OrangeCoSheriff that someone would call me – they didn’t. I had to harangue them into contacting me. Finally a detective (male) calls me but leads w/the same tired line “Your daughter could face child porn charges.” What the hell is it with that spiel anyways?
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
Skipping some of the run-round …
Finally! After calling multiple agencies for weeks, I get someone from the State Attorney’s office (@AGPamBondi), Sean Wiggins, who wants to chat. So, we chat. He’s completely clueless to anything that’s transpired over the last 13 months. Fantastic!
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
Mr. Wiggins assures me that, while his office COULD file charges against my daughter (again with this nonsense), it’s “unlikely” that he’ll do so. Gee, thanks big guy. Top notch ppl you’ve got there @AGPamBondi
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
So here we are 16 months later. The 18 y/o boy who molested my 14 y/o daughter in a hot tub at a @Marriott in Orlando while on a chaperoned @FIRSTweets trip goes unpunished & joins the army. While the @JSOPIO @OrangeCoSheriff and @AGPamBondi have all let her down.
Kudos guys.
— Jags Board Game & Movie Guy (@MoviePaul) June 13, 2018
That is truly fucking awful.
Here is the thing about the child porn charges. The Sheriff’s offices don’t want to investigate this. It will be too much work. So they say to the dad that his daughter could face child porn charges for being manipulated into taking photos of herself by a predator and sex groomer in order to make him go away.
Sheriff Israel may have been the worse offender so far, but it seems that the standard for Sheriffs in the state of Florida is to be piles of lazy and incompetent shit at protecting Florida’s children.
I will give this father kudos for not going all medieval on the perp’s ass. I am sure that was once of his first instincts, as it would be for most fathers. At least the ones that cared. However I don’t think I could have lasted as long as he did. I believe I would have shown the initial restraint, I am sure the runaround would have gotten to me a lot sooner.
Launch an invetstigation into the entire group of law enforcement offices and have their office and home computers scanned for images of child porn. The way they’re protecting and enabling the offender here suggests they’re all pedophiles.
1) Was the accused a high school sports star? Sense of entitlement and being allowed to get away with sexual assault says yes. Failing that, how closely related is he to a local politician?
2) The threat to prosecute the daughter was a threat. The so-called police were more interested in doing no work, not having another crime on their stats, and (likely) protecting a popular jock than in protecting a young girl.
3) This is how you get Rotherham.
To protect and serve?
“To protect and serve?”
Yep, protect and serve the right people.
Once that’s understood, everything else falls into place.
One has to wonder if all these sheriffs and deputies are getting a percentage.

If he ever does extrajudicial, I don’t think there is a jury that would convict him If he was allowed to tell his story in court. Except anyone that goes rogue won’t be allowed to tell his story in court.
This could be how you get Vigilance Committees, except any vigilante group will have at least one FBI Agent, one BATFE Agent, and four informants from federal, state, and local agencies. Don’t worry, unlike terrorist investigations and potential school shooter cases, people will be arrested in vigilante cases, whether any action occurs or not.
I once had been mailed a $200 reimbursement check from an employer to reimburse me for travel expenses. Someone stole it from my mailbox and cashed it at his bank. The idiot actually signed my name and then under there, signed his own name, and wrote his account number on the back of the check. I went to the Orange County Sheriff’s office, thinking this would be a slam dunk.
I was told that they did not have the resources to investigate such a “petty” crime of mail theft, forgery, and a host of other crimes. Imagine how angry I was when I passed 4 deputies on my way home, who were all writing speeding tickets.
There was the time that my car was broken into, and Osceola county deputies actually came out and took fingerprints. They figured out who the guy was, and he was arrested in South Carolina when he was pulled over for a traffic violation. Florida dropped the charges because it wasn’t a serious enough crime to justify the cost of extradition.
Meanwhile, I got a speeding ticket in 2001 in Melbourne that I paid for at the courthouse. It turns out that I had underpaid the ticket by $22, because the clerk quoted me the wrong fee. No one caught it for ten years. They sent me no fewer than 10 letters from 2012 to 2015, demanding their $22. I finally paid it when they threatened to revoke my drivers license.
Cops are, for the most part, lazy and unwilling to do anything unless their job depends on it. At this point, that means write tickets and asset forfeiture.
This will continue until Fathers, Brothers, Uncles, and Grandfathers start protecting their family members instead of depending on the “system” to do it for them.
Cowardice is the downfall of our society.
“You can’t break the ankles of the man that molested your underage daughter, then drop him the glades for the gators. That’s toxic masculinity.”
You should use @threadreaderapp for this type of stuff.
