The Complete Sherlock Holmes is available today for free in the Kindle Store. If you never read it, do yourself a favor and get your copy, Kindle device not needed since you can download your app for PC or Mac.

I’ve been a fan of Sherlock Holmes for over four decades. I have literally worn out 3 copies, I have one now starting to show signs of use plus I have one more in reserve, untouched & secured for TEOTWAWKI. And yes, this Kindle version too ’cause you never know.

And I will spare you from a deluge of absolute giddiness since my wife already has to suffer me literally destroying the latest Hollywood versions with my commentaries as the movie plays. We Sherlockians are unyielding bunch. I will admit that if I had money to throw away, I would go to London for one day, hop in a cab and demand to be taken to 221 Baker Street, have my picture taken in front the address, visit the museum and fly right back out the same day.

And if you must know: Jeremy Brett & Edward Hardwicke.

  1. This was one of the first things I downloaded onto the Kindle I got for Christmas. I haven’t really read Homes before but I have found the first two novels at least to be very enjoyable.

  2. “I have one now starting to show signs of use”

I never really realized how fast good books worn out until I got a kindle.

I got all 4 books to Monster Hunter International series for Christmas and MHI is already starting to fall apart and Alpha doesn’t look pretty anymore. Luckily Legion is holding together due to hardback and the fact that I taped the dust jacket on. Vendetta is closing in on Alpha for not being pretty too. I think I’m going to start laminating paper back book covers when I get them. I have an old (1970s?) Fellowship of the Ring from a Library give away that was laminated and it’s still holding together really well.

      1. Yeah… Wish I knew about MHI when it was in hardback (was it in hardback?) I would have gotten it then… Wonder if Baen will ever do a reprint.

Also, you have magical gun blogger powers, any ETA on MHI #5? I’m assuming Gun Bloggers meet in a super secret underwater base and don super hero costumes and fight internet trolls on their days off, so if you see Correia there, ask him for me?

  3. Found them individually on gutenberg.org, but they don’t have the complete collection. I’ve read two or three, before I got sidetracked by a compendium of H.P. Lovecraft works. Followed by Jeff Cooper’s “Commentaries”. Thanks for the heads-up, though, I just got this one on my ‘Droid!

    1. heh. my sister got one for christmas. guess who’s using it and whose room it’s been in since I got it up and running? I’ve got ohhh..120 books on it so far. More actually since a number of those books are “omnibus” books with multiple novels in them. For instance the 3 omnibus editions of the Hammers Slammer’s stories. Which I decided to reread. 🙂

      1. My baby sister got one too. Unfortunately it’s now glued to her hip and I can’t exactly run off to my apartment with it. She’ll chase me and probably whack me a few times.

Which she’s done before. She went “MY PRECCCCIOUSSS” when after handling it, I gave ti back to her.

(Now to try and have her read Calvin and Hobbes.)
