This is an example of the uppermost “intellectual Holy Grail” of the Gun Control Advocates.

delusionalLet’s set aside the fact that Iraq was controlled by a hated minority who was not sad to see Saddam go, that the country’s population is about 10% of the population of the US, that only a very selected minority possessed guns and that even then with all the might of the US Armed Forces, it took an inordinate amount of time to somewhat control the 170,000 square miles of country which is about the same size as California.

Let’s forget about all that for a second and let us concentrate on one fact that appears to be eluding the minds of the rabidly anti-gun: They will not be exempted from the heavy hand of an unchecked government imposing martial law across the land and kissing goodbye basic constitutional protections.

Yes, some of the best know Gun Control voices will be excepted from a free home delivery of ordnance or the inevitable trip downtown wearing the latest in steel bracelets (not from Zales), but the rank and file of the rabidly anti-gun will pretty much be in the same collapsing boat with the rest of the population. They will be arrested without cause, house & property searched without warrant, subjected to random checks on the street, will not be able to address grievances unless they desire a trip to a detention camp or accidentally be shot with real assault rifles if they fail to properly obey orders.

And of course and as extra bonus, they will get the hearty thanks from Gun Owners who will officially consider them allies of the new regime. And trust me, the thanks will not be a cute Hallmark Card with a cute photo and witty caption inside. Well, maybe one catchy caption:

For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind.

  1. They’re also making the assumption that all of our armed forces will be A-OK shooting and bombing our own people. Not saying that none would, but it’s not like the drone army in Star Wars.

    1. The left must have skipped the chapter in “Tyrannies for Dummies” about keeping the military happy. Every ambitious, successful tyrant from the Caesars to Uggo Chavez (MHRIH)** have understood this.

*instead, they’re reading Alinsky & Cloward/Piven, which is the political equivalent of dating advice from “Twilight”.

      **May He Rot In Hell

      1. We also have a volunteer army, not peasants drafted to fight someone else’s war in some distant land. I doubt it’ll be that easy for pilots to start dropping bombs on the same towns they have friends and family in. The left is bluffing big time, and I think the militarized police is a greater threat than the military itself to be honest.

        1. I agree. It seems to me that even the Army has more honor than policemen. of course, that’s only my opinion.

        2. I couldn’t agree more. I figure it like this; if you can’t deploy the military domestically militarize the police force and then you have a domestically usable force comparable to the real military.

  2. As has been shown countless times in recent history: tanks, heavy artillery, and precision bombs are no match for a motivated and almost-invisible guerilla force. Unless, of course, the government doesn’t mind carpet-bombing vast swaths of it’s own country. I’m guessing since we didn’t carpet-bomb entire cities in Afghanistan, it’s probably not going to happen here.

Do I even have to remind anyone that ONE GUY with guns almost shut down Southern California for a week not too long ago? Natch.

  3. After all, these are generally the same people that have predicted victory by left wing guerrilla groups over imperialist armies despite the equipment gap.

  4. Did you recommend “On Killing?” That book says the U.S. Army has a hard time getting 2/3rds of soldiers to pull the trigger (much less aim at Iraqis and ‘Stanis). This even when not firing will endanger themselves and their buddies. A good friend was in the 2/4 in Ramadi (and mentioned in Joker One). He and his are on our side.

  5. Hmmm, a mean person might consider picking up several untraceable junk guns and keeping them.

Later those guns could be planted on anti-gun advocates, their homes or vehicles and anonymous phone calls made.

  6. Lefties have believed since the 60s that all soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines are mindless fools who joined the military either because they were too dumb to find a real job or because they were psychotic killers at heart looking for a way to fulfill their fantasies by slaughtering whomever their leaders told them to kill…

T’aint so, of course…the oath we took, and it’s honored by those on active duty, retired, or just plain old veterans, is not to worship and obey our Lord and Saviour BroncoBombah, it’s to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States…against all enemies foreign and domestic…kinda like…BroncoBombah hisself.

Following an unlawful order, like, “kill those unarmed civilians over there”…that’s for folks like the Nawlins poleese department and those drone drivers.

  7. One person suggested spreading corn (surreptitiously, of course) on runways.
Another suggests that planes, tanks, and other vehicular treansports, need some kind of petroleum product to run, not something with oil, water and sugar mixed in.
Another suggests gas and oil slicks on roadways for fifty feet or so on sharp curves- kind of creates an improvised ice slick.
There are numerous methods of attacking a mobile force that don’t require expenditure of presious ammunition.
Of course, we don’t want the antis to know this kind of stuff, but need to keep them in their box so we can easily round them up.

  8. Those people need to bone up on their history and learn who tyrants dispose of first. Here’s a clue, it ain’t the regular folk. There’s plenty of time to get to them later. They get rid of the ones who helped clear the way for them to get to power. After that, they become a problem and are disposed of quickly.

  9. The problem with this assumption is the fact that most servicemen and women will associate more with the pro-gun crowd than the anti-gun crowd, and that pro-gunners actually know history.

Can you imagine adapting the Mujahadeen tactics from Afghanistan, except this time we may even have some ‘rebel’ military units or National Guard joining in? The anti-gun/leftists may have some ‘facts’, but data is just data and needs to be analyzed, and when analyzed, what they have is wholly short.

  10. If it actually comes to vast unrest and a quasi-police state, or a real civil war, the leftists who will have started it, had better get used to living in an underground bunker with their families, staff, any close friends and their pets. They will never be safe. Anyone who aids them will be choosing the wrong side and will pay dearly. All the shiny drones and stealth fighters will not save them when their brake lines are cut, their house has a gas leak and explosion or their governmental jet develops severe engine trouble upon take off.

Just saying, if the gloves come off…

  11. The other one that gets me is these people forget about the domestic terrorists from the 70’s. Small groups of anti government resistance organizations that managed to bomb all kinds of stuff from the US capitol building to military installations. If small groups of people working together could do that imagine the effect of a unified armed resistance across a large segment of our population. Yea no I think they would see some success.

And the other thing that kills me is they defeat their own argument for themselves. If an ar15 in the hands of a civilian poses no threat to a government why should they be so concerned with taking it away? They admit it themselves that it isn’t dangerous to the governments security!

  12. I have pointed out many times in previous discussions that one need not DESTROY (a tank/plane/drone/infantry unit) in order to DEFEAT (same). Machines need fuel (and maintenance). Weapons need ammo. People need food.

If you manage to ‘track’ a tank (or run it out of fuel), it is immobilized. Do this when it is behind enemy lines and it becomes a sitting target. Still hard to blow up…not that hard to ‘bonfire’ it and cook out the occupants.

    1. …and as has been mentioned many times, this assumes that our troops would be willing to shoot up Americans and their home towns to follow the illegal orders of the clown in the White House. Desertions, refusals, and switching sides will prevent this from being a purely military versus the citizens situation.
