Local Happy Ending (UPDATE)
Welcome to South Florida.
PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Two men who were trying to rob a jewelry store were shot by a store employee Friday afternoon at the Pembroke Lakes Mall, police say.
According to Pembroke Pines police, the two men went into Elite Fine Jewelry at 2:14 p.m., and one smashed glass display cases while the other began grabbing items.
A store employee pulled out a concealed firearm and shot both of the suspects, detectives say. The men were taken to a nearby hospital.

I guess this is a lesson that needs to be repeated every so often because people forget: For all intents and purposes, there is not a jewelry store in South Florida (or the whole state) where employees are not packing. No only that but jewelries are effing traps with doors that automatically lock and you cannot beat a hasty retreat and suddenly become a target downrange by the berm.
When we moved to our actual home a couple of decades ago, a jewelry store about 2 miles away was also attacked, but one of the idiots ended up in the slab at the morgue. I think there was another case way south over Homestead or that area, but I can’t remember for sure. The closet a successful jewelry robbery was some nutjob snatching “gold’ chain from a Gold-By-The-Inch stand at some mall and they got caught fast.
Anyway, I love a happy ending.
We now have the names of the poor misguided yutes:
As you can deduce, both are felons and Mr. Sherman has a history of armed robbery. Mr. Wiley was on probation out of Pensacola so that is a couple of extra charges we will be eating.
