Barron Barnett has all the reason to kick my butt for not posting his video here. My bad since i kept forgetting.

Debunking the Police Qualification Myth is a very illustrative video. I know that an IDPA Novice will clean the clock on the LAPD Qualifier. The IDPA Classifier is much harder!

Here is an IDPA Classifier…shot with revolver. In the video you will see the time in a score sheet. Comapre those to the LAPD Qualifier as mentioned by Barron.

  1. I would rather call a qualified IDPA than a cop anyday. based on the video why would you take a chance on a cop.

    1. The “corporate” culture ingrained on LEOs about being properly trained is still strong but showing signs that is cracking. I am seeing more and more cops taking up shooting sports and additional training because they realize it s a life saving skill. I think it is mostly the political fear that keeps the changes from happening. It is the only reason it explains 14 pound triggers on issue sidearms.

    1. And they are great people willing to share their knowledge. I shot a Florida State match and our squad had the great luck of having Super Dave Harrington in it and he was great.
I still shot like crap…but was not the crappiest one in my division for once 🙂

  2. I just saw some targets that were left behind by Federal Law Enforcement qualifications. They wouldn’t have passed the Texas CHL qualification.

  3. Funny, I knew a detective in Baltimore and he was concerned that when they analyzed police involved shootings the bad guys hit their targets more often then the ‘better trained’ police officers. In football they talk about ‘nothing to lose’ allowing a team to clear their minds and do their best, this might have something to do with it. Officers have a lot to lose, armed citizens and bad guys have nothing to lose for different reasons. The armed citizen has already had the worst experience of their life and is simply trying to survive, the criminal doesn’t have a good ending once their caught so they have nothing to lose.
