I have seen comments about Ilhan Omar’s patter of head dressing changes depending on if she was going to have a regular day or wave the Minority Victim card.
IMHO sure as hell there is a difference between Miss Cleo headdress and Muslim Refugee Look. You decide on your own.

It’s probably a “position of power” thing. When she wants to appear helpless and downtrodden — IOW, when she wants to look like the victim or underdog — it’s “Muslim Refugee”.
When she wants to appear comfortable, knowledgeable, and confident — IOW, when she’s speaking from a position of power and authority — it’s “Miss Cleo”.
Notice how she’s also far more likely to be smiling broadly in “Miss Cleo” garb; after all, victims and refugees have little to smile about, right?
It’s really no different from interacting with many “gun controllers”. They speak from knowledge and power, until you challenge their ideas and beliefs, and then they fall over crying about how you’re “bullying” them and “blaming the victim” and “gunsplaining”.
The mood change is identical to a FIFA soccer player feigning injury to earn his opponent a red card, only faster. And Rep. Omar has it mastered.

It’s the sartorial equivalent of politicians adopting a sudden urge to over-enunciate every Spanish loanword when speaking to an audience of Latinos. They can’t just say “Mexico,” they must say “MEH-hee-KO,” it’s never “Latino,” always “LAH-TEE-NOO” and so forth.
