Ban the Box is making another go around, especially with the beginning of the 2018 election cycle.

For those of you who don’t know what Ban the Box is, it is an initiative to prohibit employers from asking about prior criminal convictions on job applications under certain circumstances.

It started with goverment and municipal employees, and President Obama made it part of Federal regulations in 2016.

Democrats, hoping to swell their ranks with criminals and not wanting to leave any business unmolested, are now trying to push this more and more into the private sector.

I have decided that when I am done with my current job and it is time for me to move on, I was thinking about going back into consulting.  Maybe get myself a small heat treat facility and machine shop and do industrial consulting and prototyping.

One of the very first things I’m going to do is get an FFL and an SOT.

First, because it would allow me to go into all sorts of interesting work.

Second, because a background check would be legal requirement for any employee.

Fuck, I’ll open up a coffee bar with a gun counter just to make sure that my baristas don’t have felony convictions.

Spread the love

  1. That … could be an interesting coffee bar. I’m guessing most of your patrons would understand the principle of “buy something if I want to use the toilet.”

  2. If we let them do this pretty soon you wont be able to drug test applicants. Stupid stupid ….
Mr J- get your FFL 07 and SOT, it is tons of fun!!

  3. It’s quite hilarious to watch people favor this ban-the-box notion while at the same time wringing their hands about all the failure of background checks to detect perverts working at various public facilities.

  4. So… if I am a recently released felon I should be able to get a job handling charge card numbers, or other private data but I can’t pass a background check to own a firearm. Yeah, that makes sense.
