  1. They’re certainly losing the battle, that would be at least the second Buc-ee’s within 90 minutes of Nashville (first one being in Athens, AL).

That tweet does remind me of a tweet I saw about a year and a half ago, “Driving through Texas just reminds me that if there ever was a Fallout style post apocalyptic America, there would be an entire faction dedicated to the worship of this f***ing beaver.”

    1. There is one starting to be built in Murfreesboro, 34 mile from Nashville…. and 8 miles away from yours truly.

I will send reports of the invasion once completed

      1. I think “invasion” could well describe the experience, especially at a newly opened Texas FOB, er, Buc-ee’s. When the one in north Alabama opened, the traffic was backed up out onto the interstate and there were tales of it taking 30-60 minutes for people just to get out of there. And if it is a major travel weekend (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, etc.) then just consider the area a no-go zone.

I’ve been, I’ve had the brisket (it’s okay) and the Beaver Nuggets (they’re pretty much just a different take on the Corn Pops cereal of my youth), I’m good. The crowds, even on non-peak days are enough for me to just go “I’ve gotta get the hell out of here and I’ve gotta get out now.”

    1. A big service station with hot food. As best I can tell. People think they are the bees’ knees. I’ve never been to one and don’t plan to, unless I absolutely need to refuel.

      1. The food’s OK; most of the place is taken up by merchandise made of fine Chinesium. The restrooms, on the other hand, are spotless and large.

BUT the parking lots are madhouses. I swear people forget there are cars around when they’re walking around them, and will step right in front of an oncoming car.

    1. As Gary P. Nunn said
“We’re taking Texas to the country
Were taking Buc-ee’s to the world.”
      Deal with it 😎

  2. I stopped at the one in SC on my way up north and back. It was pretty good. The gas was cheap and the bathrooms were spotless. I got a Bucky coffee mug and a Gadsden Flag tumbler full of Dr. Pepper.

I can honestly say the brisket sandwich was delicious (if overpriced) and the beaver chips are downright addictive. They built one in Daytona Beach just off I-95 and I may need to make a pilgrimage to get more snacks.

  3. The PNW has been spared so far, but when In N Out Burger opened up here there traffic jams of homesick Californians. I can’t understand the hype, Burgerville is better, and local.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
