I have one. Accurate enough. Decent recoil.
But do not recommend. Especially in 10 round states.
Mine has a pretty common problem for HP 995: putting magazine in is an iffy proposition. It does not always go in fully. You need to make sure, that the last mm got in, or it does not shoot. It is not noticable till you cannot rack first round in or till the magazine falls out.
One needs to slap it in and listen for the click. Or your weapon is as useful as a club.
Buy a youth H&R pump. Cheap and reliable. Accurate enough for Home Defence (not for hunting).
Good review of a good gun. As discussed, it is not the best in overall quality, but it does put lead downrange accurately enough. The issues I had with one were solved by polishing the feed ramp and making sure the lips of the magazines were spaced correctly. After that it was fun to shoot.
When I was poor in a bad neighborhood as a broke ass college kid, I had the 45 ACP version.
It worked and was minute of asshole at 25 yards.
I traded it for a Kel Tec Sub 2000.
I traded that towards a CZ Scorpion 9mm.
I had the guns I could afford at the time I could afford them.
The Bersa 380 I carried was better than the Glock that sat in the gun case at the store because I didn’t have the money for it.
I won’t gun shame people.
I’ll only encourage a better choice of gun if the one they have has reliability issues.
Money should not be a barrier to liberty, self reliance, or personal safety.
The best gun for you is the one you have, can afford, and are able to shoot.
Hi Point, KelTec, Taurus, Charter Arms, it does not matter. If you can afford it, carry it, and know enough to use it, it is the right gun for you. Upgrade later if you can, or keep using it if you cannot.
Guns, even the low cost, not quite extensively QA’d ones are generally reliable enough. It does not take long for a crappy gun manufacturer to lose enough market share they end up bankrupt.
