I want one of these … but not that badly.
I have also noticed you cannot find pump action shotgun anywhere. what is strange though is you can easily find semi automatic shotgun. I went to sportsman’s warehouse and they were almost exclusively that.
I’m surprised that you can still find lever actions in centerfire calibers. I would expect since all the semi auto rifles, handguns and pump shotguns are gone are those would be next but they’re not. Of course right now a case of 357 magnum costs quite literally $1200.
I’m guessing people buy what they see on TV … and not a lot of lever guns or semi-auto shotguns these days.
Re ammo … Seriously? AmmoSeek is showing .357 Mag defensive loads (e.g. SIG V-Crown JHP) at ~$0.60/round.
That’s still way too much. I want to get another case of either 357 magnum or 38 special and 5.56. One is obscenely expensive, another is impossible to find and also obscenely expensive When you do find it in the third one is also expensive. I’m thinking I might just get a case of 38 special and just use that for the time being for my handgun shooting.
I did manage 4 bricks of .22lr a couple weeks ago. By some miracle they had 40 bricks. I should have just cleaned half of them out since they would’ve let me but I am not ‘that guy’. It was also Winchester and I prefer Federal or Remington in that order if I buy bulk. CCI is an afterthought at this point.
If you think it’s too much, that’s fine; it’s a personal choice.
And, agreed, ammo is more expensive, with “meh” .223 Rem at around the same per round. But, please, don’t make the problem seem worse than it actually is at the moment.
You can also find old Browning A-5 semiautos for a surprisingly reasonable price.
It’s a bad time for buying Tac Timmy guns, but a great time to pick up a Grandpa Fudd gun.
I wonder how many people are paying prices like these for their very first “Defensive Shotgun,” AR-15, or handgun, and then will never buy a box of ammo, or buy A (singular) Box? Never take the gun to the range to make sure it works, and they know how to fire it? It will sit in a box, on a shelf, “Just in Case.”
The McCloskey’s had an AR-15, but reportedly had no, zero ammunition for it. Thankfully the threat alone from their two non functional weapons was able to cow the mob.
If you know someone that may be like that, be a kind caring friend and help them out. Take them to the range, teach them the four rules, help them know how to safely store their gun, and if necessary, loan them some ammunition to train and to have if the ravening horde shows up. Show them how to get their first Carry Permit, and sign them up with the NRA or your preferred gun organization.
Help them become a safe, responsible member of the unorganized militia.
I’ve had four people from work ask me to teach them to shoot in the past few months.
I’m glad to do it (and will not tell them what the ammo costs just yet) but I kind of pity them trying to actually buy their first guns.
