Even the most ballsy of the WWII Japanese warriors, full of Banzai, were deadly afraid of being burned alive by the USMC flamethrowers.

But it seems lately some mentally fucked up characters have decided to do politics by self-immolation.

  1. last I saw, the dude was still alive, but in critical condition.

also, anyone got the “how to burn X calories in minutes!” meme from the last one? I can’t find it.

  2. If only someone could have a device that would allow the telephoning of an emergency phone number.

    Just cameras around, I guess.

    1. Which is faster, dialing and waiting to connect with a 911 operator who needs to take info, and then relay said info to the proper agency, then wait for them to show up, OR hollering at the police AT THE SCENE that someone is ABOUT to self immolate?

Don’t get me wrong…I agree about people needing to put their phones down (stop filming and DO something), but if you want to chastise the filmer, rag on him for not dropping the phone and engaging in a forcible drop n roll action. Calling 911 would NOT have gotten a response any sooner than the cops already on scene did.

        1. Um.. (wait, let me re-watch just to be sure… YUP), the guy holding the camera/phone. The very first word you hear is HIM calling for the police. Then another joins in. Then the camera guy starts POINTING to the person he’s trying to alert the police in the area to.

All within the first 10 seconds.

And he CONTINUES to try and alert the on scene police until, I presume, he gives it up (trying to save the guy) as a lost cause.

  3. Self immolation is evidence of mental illness, insanity. Engaging in the practice pretty much nullifies anything you may have said or written regardless of accuracy. Society simply isn’t going to listen to the messages of someone so wacko.

  4. Anyone even thinking of doing something like that needs to spend a day observing in a burn unit.

It ain’t pretty, and bring ear plugs.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
