The Left never learned the lesson of the rooftop Koreans. When people are abandoned by the police, they don’t rollover and let the criminals destroy everything they have ever worked for.
When pushed too far they will arm up and defend themselves.
Minneapolis got pushed too far.
The defunding of the police is that abandonment made permanent.
The criminals were lucky. Usually they’d get arrested and plead down to some minimum sentence.
Armed street patrols don’t arrest criminals. They blow away criminals who get caught in the act.

What the Left hasn’t yet realized — and I’m doubtful they ever will — is that the police aren’t there to protect the citizenry from criminals.
The police are there to protect the criminals from the citizenry.
With the police defunded, it’s not going to be a free-for-all crime spree the rioters hope for, with no patrols and no punishment for offenders.
Instead, more crimes are going to carry the death penalty, applied immediately, with no appeals and no possibility of parole.
The Left wants a world where only the strong can survive? I have a feeling we’ll soon see how long the “strong” can survive with a few JHPs lodged in their chest cavity.
I sincerely hope this “defund the police” movement dies sooner than later. If not, it’s going to be … “interesting.”
Minneapolis is slowly coming to its senses.
The Huge Homeless Encampment in Powderhorn Park has been mostly dismantled. It was 600 druggies, crazies, and a few homeless. They kept doing petty crimes, and some not so petty crimes like carjacking too. The worst was a pregnant women was shot and died. Her kid was in the neonatal ICU.
But what pissed off the residents the most was the drug needles where they walked their dogs.
The answer to the left is simple. BAN the carry of all firearms open and concealed. Repeal stand your ground, repeal castle doctrine. Basically defund the police and make it so when The population is left defenseless ban the ability to defend yourself. Then create a new force using the mob and make it legal for the mob to do whatever they want wherever they want including giving the mob the authority to kill whoever they want and that includes the mob going door to door killing everyone that is white. And that will be legal. If the mob starts breaking down your door it will be illegal to defend yourself, legal for from the mob to beat you, to death if that my want, loot your home and burn it down and if you do stop them since they will be the police in essence give them all the police hardware and make it legal for to go to your home, burn down your home with you inside it and if you escape the mob had the full authority to kill you, your entire family and then go door to kill every single man woman and child with in your neighborhood. That will not only be legal but if the population opposes give the mob military hardware and te mandate to kill every single solitary person in the city that opossums the mob up to and including The extermination of every single solitary United States is in in the city of Minneapolis. Everything I just said was bat shit insane and may never happen. Except for what I said about the Supreme Court. The supreme court in its current configuration already thinks that.
I’m not sure SCOTUS actually thinks all that, but it’s irrelevant.
Anything and everything else you said could come to pass, but to strike it down and stop it, SCOTUS would have to actively get involved.
SCOTUS under Roberts is not exactly the most active court.
They don’t have to believe or agree with any of it to allow it to happen. All they have to do is … nothing.
I know I’m being hyperbolic when I post those seemingly insane ranting comments. But given the times we are in and the mindset of our opposition I’m not sure how right I actually am. What should scare many is that there may be a tiny part of your mind that agrees with my insane hypothetical rantings and that should scare the hell out of you.
The politicians forget that, once the mob gets going, it doesn’t stop until it has burned itself out. It’s not a volume knob they can turn up and down. It’s not a switch they can turn on and off. It’s a switch that, once turned on, goes until it runs out of steam. Just look at the French revolution. THAT is what leaving enforcement to the mob looks like.
In a discussion with a pro-2A customer today, I pointed out that there are two kinds of people driving the “protests.” There are those who are using the protests to gain power. They are well aware of what they are doing, and assume that they will end up in power at the end of the process. They are truly evil, and, IMO, need to be introduced to lampposts and ropes. Then, there are those who are well intentioned dupes who haven’t thought things through. There are some good people in that bunch, and they don’t realize that, in the end, they’ll either be dead or slaves. Too many of them are impervious to rational discussion, so the only way they’ll learn will be when they are no longer needed.
I keep hoping for a solution through our legal system. Declaring Antifa to be a terrorist organization is a step that allows prosecution of their funding sources, which can net some of those in the first category, above. Failing that, we’ll be left with Henry Bowman’s solution, or the scenario detailed by Shawn. G-d help us all.
Ironically, perhaps, in San Francisco in 1856, merchants, working class men, and what most would describe as solid citizens rose up against a corrupt pro-slavery democrat city government and criminal class to form a vigilance committee.
