csgv shottie zApparently he bought a Kel Tec KSG and this is spelling gloom and doom for Western Civilization according to the Cult Coalition to Stop Gun Rights Violence and the comments made by its followers in its Facebook page. I am not convinced about the shotgun myself just yet. Too many complaints about reliability but it is an interesting concept.

I expect that the other cults shall soon follow with the outrage. I’ll update if it happens.

    1. That’s the first thing that popped into my mind, too. Brand loyalty.

Yes, his carry gun was (is, assuming he ever gets it back?) a Kel-Tec PF-9. Say what you will about them, but I’m pretty sure GZ is satisfied with their efficacy.

  1. nutnfancy and Hickok45 were impressed (though nutnfancy did not care AT ALL for the first version of the KSG), so my skepticism has been greatly reduced.

      1. I think the biggest issue with Kel-Tec is their lack of quality control. Every post where somebody points out that they have a lemon, somebody chimes in “Mine works fine!”.

That is their problem, some of their units are quality product, some of them are not…all of them get shipped.

Same with Taurus. I’ve shot some Taurus guns that were spectacular, I’ve also shot a ton that weren’t. Some of these guns were the exact same model.

I’ve also seen S&W or Ruger guns that never should have left the factory….but those guns are the exception, not the rule.

  2. Good, the police stole his sidearm, he needs something to protect himself from all the psychos out there that don’t think an innocent man should walk the streets.

  3. He should have bought a UTAS UTS-15.. built better, more operator friendly, much better weapon

      1. VEPR 12 for me. That is definitely on my list. I am a lucky man that my wife has never asked why I think I need THREE 12 gauge shotguns.

    1. Everything I have seen on the UTS-15 has been pretty negative. Seems to jam a lot and is impossible to top of a magazine before it is empty.

      1. I’ve seen some mixed reviews, and unfortunately this has been the ONLY gun I’ve contacted the manufactures for a T&E sample. They never returned my email, not sure if this is the fact that I’m a small fish, or they just don’t have the units for T&E.

That being said you CAN top off the mags, just the UTS-15 drops the next round into a loading port where it waits to be chambered next. To top off you need to push that round back into the magazine and then you can top off the mags as normal. Same goes for loading, the follower actually protrudes into the loading port when a mag runs dry (haven’t looked at the mechanics, but I think this is why the UTS-15 doesn’t need to be manually switched between magazines like the KSG does, so to load the follower needs to be first reset into the tube.

So it can be done, but it isn’t as easy as with most single-tube shotties.

  4. KSG, ugghh. Saiga12 is a good thought but definitely not a great out of the box solution. I RO 3gun and have seen many issues that need to be ironed out. Somebody get that man a FN SLP or Benelli M2/M4! Or just stick with the 870 or 500/590.

      1. I would rather the 870 or the mossberg 590 for a home defence situation. They have tons of upgrades, mods and the reliable factor is huge, Instead of going for the KSG (assuming he isnt getting a big discount) I would go for the mentioned above or even a Benelli.

    1. All the videos I see of experienced people using a KSG looks like they are racking in slow motion. Seems like someone can practically reload a 590 with another 5 shells and still be faster than the KSG. I think KSG is just a plain stupid overly complicated mess and thats from a S2K owner.

  5. OMG someone who isn’t a convicted felon bought a gun!

He must be paranoid. It’s not like there is a bounty on his head. Oh wait, there is? Well damn.

    1. Dang, I was thinking he needs a supply of claymore mines and those cool auto-sentry robot guns in the “Aliens” movie to protect himself from crazy people who can’t accept the verdict.

      They sure are violent!

If they are worried about him shooting a thug breaking into his house, I suggest that said thug not be a criminal, not break in, and not get shot. Simple.

  6. So just a nitpick but all the other stories I saw indicated he was only asking about the KSG, not that he bought one. Everything else is just hysterics the anti’s inserted.

  7. Braden:

You know, there’s a guy who has made a practical, cost effective version of the Aliens sentry gun. In paintball, admittedly, but wouldn’t be an issue to modify the concept for a shotgun, rifle, or pistol caliber carbine — the trick is the software.

Of course, as a lethal device, it would be illegal in almost all jurisdictions, just like the old mantrap spring guns.

  8. I wonder if he took Brad Thor up on his offer. Brad offered to buy him the Pistol, or rifle or both of Z’s choice and all the ammo he wanted for one, the other or [if he went for both] both.
