Just when you thought the NRA had some sense…

Jay Grazio has been named Associate Editor of Shooting Illustrated, the NRA’s monthly newsstand magazine that focuses on self-defense and tactical firearms. Grazio was a contributor to ShootingIllustrated.com as well as founder of the popular gun blog “MA-rooned” before joining the Shooting Illustrated staff. Growing up in a law enforcement family, he was introduced to firearms at a young age and likes anything that goes boom-from blackpowder muskets to polymer pistols and fully complemented AR-15 rifles.

Yes Jay, we are deeply jealous. Congratulations on your new job and extra kudos for not being behind enemy lines anymore.

PS: We hate you more for what you are holding in the photo… m’kay? 🙂

Children’s Hospital Performs Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’

I have faced many an idiot pointing guns at my face, got swiped by a strong current and almost drowned, jumped in accidents and assisted in rescue of adult and juvenile victims being attacked by big dogs and attended (without wanting) total dislocations of societal order where people were being less than kind to each other. And although I have felt “nervous” I had to do what was necessary and managed to be “manly.”

But there is no way I could work in a Children’s Hospital and not being an emotional wreck in need of deep therapy and chemicals by the end of the first day.

May God bless the Little Children and those who take care of them.

Daily Kos wants to reframe the Second Amendment. Still does not get it.

CSGV KOS

In other words, in the 21st century, the real debate should be about the civic duty of owning firearms, starting with the simple question, “For gun owners, is there a civic duty for weapons ownership?”

If you truly believe in the founders intent, then the answer is yes, the intent of the Second Amendment was to codify a civic duty. Those duties aren’t found in local gun clubs or so-called militia organizations, in their 20th century flavor. One place that civic duty can be found is in the National Guard.

via Daily Kos: It’s time to reframe the debate about gun ownership in the United States.

Dear Lord: Keep them stupid. If you are in your 20s & 30s, you may want to read the article. It is basically the same excuses and re-interpretations of the Second Amendment that were done during the Clinton Years so we Old Heads are already familiar with them.

For all the long-winded explanations, they still fail to address one simple question: If the expression “The Right of The People” is considered as an individual right in the rest of the Amendments in which is mentioned, how come and by what Constitutional transmutation it becomes a collective right when applied to the Second Amendment?

And by the way, saying stuff like this does not promote an atmosphere of communication between parts:

We need to have a real discussion about the civic duty of gun ownership sooner, rather than later. It’s time for the grownups to start talking, and more importantly, to take action.

You are just pissed because we are better prepared. It is a feeling, you’ll get over it.

Stress management done right

From Bob G.

I found this easy stress management technique in November issue of The Journal of Clinical Psychology. The simple protocol worked wonders for me. I thought I’d pass it along to you.

1. Picture yourself lying prone on a warm rock that hangs just above a deep stream.

2. Your hands dangle in the cool running water.

3. Birds chirp sweetly in the cool mountain air.

4. No one knows your secret place.

5. You are in total seclusion from that hectic place called the world.

6. The water is so clear that you can make out the face of the politician you are holding underwater. See? it worked. You’re smiling. You feel better already.

Victim Selection Process Failure: Brazil Again.

The Brazilians love this stuff on TV, specially when the bad guys gets it.

Two perps walk into a pizzeria and empty the register. Everybody is keeping calm and hoping they go away. Of course, greed is a bitch so they go after the only occupied table of the locale to clean the customers…which at least two happen to be cops.

One of the Idjits was declared DRT and the other managed to escape. Damned people with guns make armed robbery so dangerous! There ought to be a law!

But he saw Law and Order and Stayed at the Holiday Inn.

Folks, if you’re going to challenge laws, hire a competent attorney. The rest of us have to live with the decisions of judges when you challenge the law without a workable plan and without the necessary skills, so please, don’t do it.

For those who keep screaming “It is my right and Fuck You” never forget that we are still one bad court presentation away from setting us back a decade.

No, she did not.

She says Glover did everything right–filed for divorce and even pressed assault charges against Bowman.

Ruth says the Glover case will cause lawmakers to take note, and one way to cut down domestic violence may be to track the stalker with a GPS.

The problem is, she did not do all she could. Probably because being in Maryland, she is not allowed to have all the tools to face and possibly survive a deadly attack from an abusive mate.

One would think I am amazed that the women behind Moms Demand Action would really care and understand the evil dynamics of espousal abuse, but when you have the same group fighting tooth and nail to undermine or dissolve the Stand Your Ground laws and keep pushing for women to remain unarmed in the face of deadly violence, there is no amazement, only resignation.
