The egg firmly planted on Bloomberg’s face.
It is done. Everytown for Gun Safety, has beaten the Facebook page of Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
And That Is Why We Win.
Where a Hispanic Catholic, and a Computer Geek write about Gun Rights, Self Defense and whatever else we can think about.
The Houses Of “Everytown”
The world looks differently to you and me than it does to Michael Bloomberg and Shannon Watts.
Unless you live in an exclusive suburb with armed guards at the gate, I doubt your home looks like the array of homes below. It should be noted that I don’t begrudge Mr. Bloomberg his money as he earned it by taking an idea for providing financial data and ran with it. That is the American Way and I applaud his entrepreneurship. Shannon Watts took the more old fashioned way and (re)married well to the former CEO of a Wellpoint subsidiary. That, too, is OK…I guess

Ouch….
Repeating myself from Wednesday:
ProArms Podcast: The Spencer Newcomer Case.
I cannot emphasize how important this podcast can be. I need you to take about an hour of your undivided time to listen to it. You may want to grab the beverage of your choice, but please make it an uninterrupted hour. If you have to sacrifice range time, do so: this will be a bigger learning experience than any amount of rounds you could put through paper this weekend.
I’ll post again about this case on Monday on lessons learned.
The case of Robert Hansen v Michael McJunkin in Michigan popped in my Email Alerts. It was presented by the media as a Road Rage shooting hinting that the shooter was in the wrong. The DA ( a good one ) did the investigation and declared that the shooter acted in self-defense closing the case down. There was an injured woman by shrapnel.
Let me paste the description as it appeared in the local Media:
“She said the nightmare began as she and her boyfriend, Michael McJunkin, noticed a strange car tailgating on the business loop off of I-94 on March 12, 2014.
Then, at a light near Hamlin and Division, she said the people in that car pulled up beside them.
Michelle said they were, “Flipping us off…. you could tell by lip syncing that they were swearing.” She said both cars then turned different directions.
Unfortunately, as fate would have it, she said the cars met again at a different light near Calhoun and North Street.
Michelle said her boyfriend got out of the car to try to get a cell phone picture of the license plate of the other car when someone pulled a gun.
“That`s where we met up and they flashed the gun at us,” said Michelle.
She said Michael followed the car to try to get the plate number.
It pulled into Kellogg Community College and both cars stopped.
Before Michael could even get out, she claimed the man got out of the car first and started shooting.
“He`s laying on the ground on his stomach,” she said. “He`s on the ground with the passenger door open unloading on us….…..Michelle said they had no weapon and never touched the people in the other car, yet she says Micheal is charged with assault for allegedly using his car as a weapon.
…..She feels the man who shot her should be the one facing charges.
“My boyfriend is in jail for nothing,” she said. “He`s about to lose everything. My son is traumatized over this.”
Local Woman Shot In Road Rage Incident Demands Charges
Poor innocent but misguided couple with a kid. They made the innocent mistake of getting to close to a gun nut and they were rewarded by gunfire, right? The Prosecutor disagreed in his opinion of the case. I have to post screen caps since it is a .pdf of an image; I’ll just post some parts for reference and you can read the whole thing on the previous link, 6 pages total.
The above is important to indicate the recklessness of the behavior about to occur.
Here we see that there is a difference between the statement of the “victim” and the facts as obtained by the Prosecutor. Granted that raising the middle finger in salute is not the best way to make friends and influence people in a nice matter.
This ceased to be a oopsie” and became a hunt in the part of McJunkin. Note the part where it says “should ended the contact” as it indicates that the original event had run out and it cannot be used any longer to justify further action on the part of McJunkin.
It is a whole different game, isn’t it? It is no longer a case of a “road rage shooter” but IMHO straight self-defense against somebody that not only did not care about the family in the car he was chasing, but the family that was inside his car.
And what else any reasonable person expect from such behavior?
McJunkin was initially charged with Assault with Motor Vehicle, but the prosecutor dropped the charges. The girlfriend, possibly an idiot with dependency to cavemen problems is pissed that the Hansen won’t be charged for her injuries but apparently she is OK with her idiotic boyfriend getting her and her kid in a situation where both could have been killed.
Mr. Hansen was very lucky. There was hard evidence and the report suggests that there were eyewitnesses also. And he also lucked out with Prosecutor David Gilbert who not only understands the law but also the mechanics and what happens to somebody under extreme stress.
Via Sticks Survival, I came to the story of 19-year-old Michael Maxwell of Palm Bay, Fl. Apparently Mr. Maxwell and his cohorts made a poor home selection for home invasion/robbery and got “beaten, kicked and tased” according to the news report and what his mugshot shows:
Don’t feel bad if you let out a chuckle, I did that myself. My initial thoughts were “He was damned lucky to find a Florida home without a gun or his ass would have been worm & scarab food.”
In my head, I had dismissed Maxwell as another dumb teen doing stupid stuff. Just for kicks, I did a bit more news search and what I found put a chill in the merriment:
Michael Maxwell Charged With First Degree Murder.
BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Michael Maxwell, 20, has been charged with first degree premeditated murder with a firearm in connection with the death of James Thomas Wynn in the early morning hours of Nov. 24, 2013.
Wynn was murdered in the 1000 block of Hollister Drive, in West Melbourne, Florida.
I had to kick myself in the proverbial ass for making the stupid assumption that Mr. Maxwell was just a moronic criminal when it turned out to be a possible murderer. And even the most moronic of criminals can snuff your life out just because or no reason at all.
I cannot imagine what the family might be going through right now. I hope that one of the thoughts is “Screw the taser, let’s get at least a couple of shotguns!”
And to think that there are people in the Florida Legislature who want to re-instate and even extend Duty to Retreat to include your home? Oh hell no!
A letter from the ATF regarding the processing of NFA items shows that the Feds can take something we do normally in seconds and multiply it by several factors of inefficiency.
For example, in fiscal year 2005, while ATF processed nearly 41,600 NFA applications, by 2013 that number had skyrocketed by more than 380 percent to more than 199,900 applications….When ATF implemented the eForms
system, paper NFA Tax-Paid applications took 9 months to process, while eForms reduced processing
time to within 100 days.
For the same time period, Florida Concealed Weapon permit applications reached the largest number in history with 204,288 and they were being issued well within the legal 90 days as per Florida law with many cases applicants getting their cards in the mail within 4 to 5 weeks if they used the regional offices.
Both NFA and the way it is processed are obsolete practices that need to be revamped or better yet, eliminated altogether.
Hat Tip to Alan B.
By now you may know that His Divine Grace Michael Bloomberg has started another astro turf group called Everytown for Gun Safety. Apparently the six-figure Social Media experts of MAIG forgot to secure the Facebook page and some enterprising pro-Second Amendment individual snatched the name.
Your duty (OK, pretty please) is to go to Facebook and like Everytown for Gun Safety, why? because at the time of this writing, they had over 9,500 likes in less than 24 hours while the Facebook page of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, created in 2012 only has 21,547 likes.
There is the possibility that Facebook will reclaim the name and serve it at the feet or The God Among Mortals Michael Bloomberg. But think of the embarrassment for His Divine Grace that a bunch of uneducated members of fly-over country bested him with nothing more than speed and word of mouth.
It is pure gun lubrication right there,
