So I took the time to read the proposed bill and…yup, you can tell it is coming from the Bloomberg Legal Boilerplate Team because it almost reads like word for word like the one introduced in Florida just a little while back.

About the only Earth-Shattering difference is the our Carpetbagger is asking for 7 round magazines and Washington’s Carpetbagger is more generous and allowing for 10 rounds. I haven’t read much since I am on my way to bed (this post was written at Zero OMFG is late Hundred) but I am going to give it a bit more study later on.

I am starting to have the suspicion that Bloomberg is pissed that a New Yorker became POTUS so he is going to be a Shadow POTUS from his Uppity Loft in Manhattan.

He is indeed a Nasty Little Fascist as Michael Bane puts it.

Everytown is complaining that the CDC and NIH isn’t spending enough money to research gun violence.

Of course, this is all the NRA’s fault.

There are a few reasons for the gun violence research disparity. First, there are legislative restrictions on gun research. For two decades, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been prevented from allocating funding that could be used to advocate for or promote gun control. Although that doesn’t explicitly exclude all research on gun violence, it is said to have had a chilling effect on funding.

Oh how terrible.  If only the government could spend more money on studying how to fight the disease of gun violence, they could cure it.

Except that we know largely how to curb gun violence.  It doesn’t require clinicians and public health experts, it requires cops.

As it turns out, in NYC half of all gun violence is the result of petty fights between gangs.  When NYC made a deliberate effort to curb gang activity, shootings in the city dropped.

A lot of money can be spent do explain how gun violence is “contagious” and people who witness gun violence are more likely to participate in it.  Or you can ask a cop who will tell you that one gang A member shoots another gang B member , so gang B member 2 shoots gang A member 2, and it turns into a war with a high number of casualties.  The first theory blames the gun.  The cop’s answer blames the culture of gang crime.

Which is a more effective theory for curbing shootings?

We know that 64% of gun deaths are actually suicides.  You know what bullet point (ha ha) I didn’t see on the WaPo/Everytown graph (look carefully)?

Suicides.  I don’t see suicides.  Almost 21,000 people per year kill themselves with guns, out of 43,000 people per year to kill themselves, but we’re not studying what causes people to commit suicide?

The suicide rate in America is increasing in rural, white America, and because it is rural, whites who are most likely to kill themselves, big city Liberals couldn’t be more callous.

A transgender teenager commits suicide because of bullying and so Obama uses federal funding to mandate that trans school kids can use the bathroom that they identify with  and now teen boys can get naked in a locker room with teen girls if they identify that way.

When middle class white people kill themselves because of economic desperation… fuck ’em, they have white privilege, just take their guns away.

Gun violence is not a disease.  It is not spread by a pathogen.  There is no antibiotic or vaccine that can prevent it.  That is the point of medical research.  Find a cure.  Even motor vehicle accident deaths are really a technological issue.  Improved safety technology makes accidents more survivable.

Gun violence doesn’t work that way.  Having a friend or relative shot doesn’t infect you with something that a pill can cure.  If you live in an area of high gang violence and you are part of a gang and your gang member cousin got killed, you are more likely to retaliate.  That is not a disease, that is a gang culture problem.

Treating guns like a vector for infection is intellectually dishonest, trying to separate the motivation from the tool.  Not funding this waste of resources isn’t hurting people.  Not funding cops and suicide prevention is.

Like George Orwell said: “Some ideas are so stupid that only intellectuals believe them.”

When major stores start offering the Yankee in Paradise/ Snowbird line of clothing.

And yes, it is a season and no, you still can’t hunt them.

I have come to believe that the greatest long term enormity of Nazism, Fascism, and Communism/Stalinism prior to and during WWII was the death of Christianity in Europe.

A common theme in Nazism, Fascism, and Stalinism was that religion was downplayed if not totally abandoned.  The Nazis persecuted the Jews, but they also persecuted Catholics and other Christian clergy.  The Soviet Union all but outlawed the Russian Orthodox Church.

People still need to believe.  Religion is one of the aspects of humanity that allowed mankind to form societies.  It was the basis for the first rules and codes of conduct that allowed civilizations to form.

When Christianity was taken away by these totalitarian leaders, the people focused their need to believe in the leaders themselves.  We call this the “cult of personality,” but it is in fact a religion, from an anthropological and psychological perspective.

Since the end of WWII, religion in Europe and the West has decreased.  In its place, a new religion has arisen.  It is the Church of State.  It is a believe in government.  I mean belief in as religious belief.

This is the religion of the political Left.  The left is overwhelmingly atheist or barely practicing in Christianity.   Think about how a Catholic like Pelosi or Biden can be pro-choice when the Catholic Church is not.  Their real worship is to the state.

Conservatives who are much more traditionally religious are much less likely to worship the State because they already worship a god.  They don’t need the government to fill the role of a religion.

A government is just a bunch of people.  Some good, some bad, most average.  What the government can do, it can only do as well as the people in government can do anything.

When people who worship at the Church of State talk about government, they  forget it is made up of people.  They talk about government like it is an omniscient, omnipotent entity unto itself.  The State is god.  Individual leaders are the prophets or messiahs.

We saw this with the hagiographic portraits of Obama.

Obama was going to be the savior that healed America’s racist soul.

Hillary was supposed to be the second savior that healed America’s sexist soul.

This is why among the Left, there has been so much hand wringing and downright insanity at the election of Donald Trump.  We rejected their savior.

It is why there is no rationalizing with them on these issues to come up with a compromise.  They cannot tolerate our differing opinions because our opinions make us heretics.  It is why everybody who didn’t vote for Hillary is a deplorable racist, sexist, homophobe, etc., because we are infidels.  We are unbelievers.  We are Kafir.

Liberalism is their religion, and they are preparing their Jihad.

I think we got it… We need MOAR LAWS, MOAR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT because we want to be safe like in South Carolina, San Bernardino, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.

After some research and info dump from some super-duper Federal sources, I found out our Carry-On Trauma Kit has to fit certain parameters: It has to be in size of fit inside a ziploc-type quart bag (I don’t know why and I really do not care to find out why the dumb size), it must not contain liquids and hopefully won’t set up the explosives sniffer.

So it is gonna be a combination of two things: A small prefab commercial trauma kit and trauma scissors under 7 inches long (so they fit in the stupid bag.) I am partial to this sealed unit plus the scissors:

The scissors I selected because they are small and cheap. Although it is allegedly permissible, you may find yourself dealing with some less than amiable TSA employee who will go verbotten!  and confiscate them. Complain but don’t argue, you want to keep the rest of the stuff so sacrificing inexpensive scissors will have to do. Just in case they want to open the sealed bag, carry both items in a ziplock bag.

I also saw this pack that may have its own advantages.

It is  7.5 x 3 x 5 inches and you would only need to add the scissors to make the combo.

And also, you can create your own combination of items if you already have them and just need to figure our the proper way to pack them and carry.  Remember that the idea is to carry something within the TSA-given parameters and good enough materials to treat a trauma long enough for more advanced rescue to arrive.
