I’m feeling cynical

Hunter Pollack lost his sister at Parkland.  He’s not a rabid anti gun nut so hasn’t gotten much media attention.

After the FBI raid on Trump’s lawyer, he Tweeted this:

I’m feeling cynical so here’s my assessment of the situation.

It’s not broken.

Democrats don’t give a fuck about 17 kids who were not killed because the FBI ignored a threat.  They can’t get a voting drive and a national protest when the government does what it is supposed to.

They can when kids die.

Or when the FBI raids Trump’s lawyer and all his sensitive and privileged information gets leaked to the press.

Embarrassing Trump is far more valuable than saving 17 lives in a school in Florida.

They have no incentive to fix it.  The system works the way they need it to.

They are inviting in regulation

Bank of America has decided that it will no longer finance companies that make “military style” rifles.

Bank of America is the nation’s second largest bank and only 10 years ago got $138 Billion in tax payer support including  $20 Billion in cash.

This is the kind of thing that invites regulation and Congressional intervention.  After billions of dollars in taxpayer money, the bank decides to wield thier weight to destroy lawful business?

What none of these articles cover is what about businesses that have already agreed to borrow money?  Are they left hanging?   What about subcontractors that make components for various industries including firearms?

What if BOA or any bank decided to go after the alcohol industry or other lawful but socially controversial business?

We’ve seen that the radical Left is not afraid to lose money on thier beliefs.  Hollywood made dozens of anti war films that tanked, but they kept making more because it was about proselytizing.

Is America willing to let a handful of executives with no oversight control the culture by making loan decisions based on personal political ideology?

Publish a conservative book, lose your loan.

Make flyers for Republican candidates, lose your loan.

Advertise on Fox News, lose your loan.

This is begging for the government to jump in.  The banks are making thier beds, I don’t think they will like who crawls in with them.

The Shoe In The Other Foot Seems To Be Uncomfortable.

I have been trolling this guy in Twitter for a bit now. He caught my attention because of no specific reason, but he is one of many using the “The NRA is a terrorist organization” and blaming us for everything including male pattern baldness.

Now, me being the arsehole I am known and loved for, engaged in conversation and put him on my troll list titled “Why We Own Guns.” Holy shit, he lost his mind! all of a sudden I was targeting a peace-loving (Ha!) unarmed guy who was only seeking solutions. How dared I? The irony of being unfairly tagged still escapes him, mostly because he is caught in the contradiction of “being a pacifist” and still wishing us to be labeled as terrorists.

Oh well. He serves a teaching purpose.

Issues with Blog Notifications

Once again and after a possible upgrade by WordPress, something is screwed up. This time appears to be the notifications of new posts.  I have no idea what is wrong, but it seems that mails, Facebook and Twitter automatic notifications are down.

I have tried the recommended fixes, but I don’t think they are working. That is why I am a great fan of The Old Reader which works via news feeds, something that WordPress has not been able to screw with.  Plus you have the convenience of having all your blogs come to you rather than chase after them.

Hopefully this notification thing will be fixed soon. In the meantime I will have to so the manual thing which is annoying as heck.

First was buckets of rocks, now it is mini baseball bats

Again, not The Onion.

According to Superintendent Bill Hall, the bats were distributed to each teacher, following an in-service training day on how to respond to school shootings.
Hall says the bats are primarily “symbolic” but are now an option for teachers to use should they need to fight back in a shooting.
The bats will be locked up in each classroom and kept in the offices in the district’s 10 school buildings.

Pennsylvania school district arms teachers with mini baseball bats

You know what else? They should be chained down so they don’t get take  too far. Yeah, that is the ticket.

This kind of reminds me the Brits in WWII  coming up with stupid ideas to battle German submarine wolf packs. My favorite was trying to train seagulls to poop on periscopes the moment the saw one.

I am so glad I don’t have kids.  Between the Stupid and the Insecurity, one would be hard pressed not to home-school your children.

PS: Thanks to @AnonTechGuy912 who just made realize the irony of issuing blunt weapons to teachers when the FBI shows UCR that more people were killed by impacts with an instrument than by all rifles.
