A modest proposal

I’ve seen two news stories in the last 24 hours that have me thinking.

First from Vox.

If the wording seems confusing, it’s not.  The thesis is the price of fossil fuels needs to be jacked up to get the market to buy less fossil fuels and more green energy.

What this will do the economy is an after thought.   For us in the real world we know that increasing the cost of energy hurts the economy badly and people will suffer.

The other is from a Venezuelan news source

Using Google translate, it quotes Elias Jaua, former Vice President, that the reason supermarket shelves are empty is the Venezuelans eat too much.

He didn’t mention the Maduro diet which caused Venezuelans to lose an average of 22 lbs last year, assuming they weren’t lucky enough to kill a cow with a rock.

So this is my proposal:

Next time around, the mass graves get filled with the central planners, big government bureaucrats, and their thugs.

I figure if we do this the total body count will end up in the few thousands instead of tens of millions.

I have a shovel, an assault rifle, and a deep desire to be left the fuck alone.

London: BS Politics can only hold the dike for so long

Hospitals in Mayor Sadiq Khan’s London resemble those in a war zone, a senior surgeon working to save victims of the capital’s surging violent crime wave has said.
The shock comments made Thursday morning come after two more men were killed overnight, a couple of days after another night of violence saw a boy, 16, stabbed to death and a 17-year-old girl shot in a “drive by”.

Wednesday night’s killings, both in Hackney, East London, brought the death toll from suspected murder in the capital to 50 so far this year, pulling away from New York City, which London overtook at the weekend.

Khan’s London: Lead Surgeon Says Hospital Like Afghan War Zone, Two More Killed Overnight

They added Knife Control to Gun Control and people are being both shot and stabbed to death.  Their body count surpassed New York is almost half of Chicago’s:

Year to Date
Shot & Killed: 94
Shot & Wounded: 454
Total Shot: 548
Total Homicides: 116

 HeyJackass!

Am I the only one that feels this is going to get worse?  I am getting visuals of the British Army patrolling the streets of Belfast during the worse of the IRA days.

Then again, what’s happening now may not be a bug but a feature. Who is to profit? I have no idea.

This is way beyond metaphor

This pretty much sums up the current political state of America.

The big blue states in the North East Corridor shit all over the Deep South and we’re sick of it, but we’re stuck with it, because New Yorkers have so little respect for us that they won’t keep their unwanted shit in their state where it belongs.

At this point I’m for the Alabama National Guard commandeering the shit and dumping it all on the front lawn of Gracie Mansion.

Cuz who gives a s**t about the Bill of Rights

First the United Kingdom passed some of the strictest gun bans in Europe if not the world.  Now they are putting YouTube pranksters in jail for teaching dogs to raise their paw to the command of “Heil Hitler” and the London police are busy cracking down on racist comments on Twitter rather than the massive spike in homicide.

This proves what the pro-gun community has been saying for years.  The people who crack down on guns hate all of the rights you have, and once they are done taking the guns, they will take free speech and wherever else they want from you.

So this video came out showing a number of local news hosts reading a message drafted by the corporation that owns them, Sinclair Broadcast Group.

The Left proceeded to go monkey shit over how this is some sort of state run media conspiracy to gas light the American people, yadda, yadda, bullshit, bullshit.  A corporation had its employees read a mission statement.  Big whoop.  This is about as conspiratorial as fast food employees asking you “would you like fries with that?”

Coincidentally, the same media outlets feigning outrage never mention the actual collusion between the DNC and CNN and MSNBC to sink Sanders and float Hillary.

Dick Durban is rabidly anti-gun.

From this it’s a good guess that he probably has no respect for any of the other Amendments too.

Yep.  He wrote a letter to Sinclair management critical of their corporate policies.

I never saw the letter he wrote to CNN when they leaked debate questions to Hillary.  I never saw the letter to CNN or MSNBC about the revolving employment door between the media organizations and Democrat party staffers.

When it’s his party fixing the major media networks to his side it’s crickets.  When it is a broadcast corporation using Trump’s term “fake news,” he has to violate the First Amendment freedom of the press.

I’m pretty sure Dick Durbin would quarter troops in your home if would make you go out and vote a straight D ticket.

He may be the first in Congress to jump on this but he won’t be the last.

The Bill of Rights is a political Jenga tower.  You can’t pull one right without destabilizing all the others, and if you are willing to pull one, you are willing to pull them all.

“It will never happen to me.”

Michael Finney, a 21-year-old supervisor at Carl’s Jr. across from the campus, said he came out of the bathroom to see a woman in a booth bleeding from the calf. Two friends were trying to stop the bleeding, using the victim’s sweatshirt as a tourniquet, but it wasn’t helping, he told the San Jose Mercury News.
“Everyone was figuring out what to do,” Finney said. “I was trying to stay calm and see what I could do. Everybody is shocked.”

Take your pick for Life Saving device in case of profuse bleeding:

A) Sweater.

Or, B) Tourniquet

Ft. Lauderdale’s City Commisioners Virtual Signaling hard.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) – A South Florida city is ending gun shows at its auditorium in wake of the massacre that happened at a nearby high school.
Fort Lauderdale city commissioners agreed Tuesday to end gun shows at the city’s War Memorial Auditorium after 30 years after the organizer’s agreement expires in November after five more shows.
The Sun Sentinel reported commissioners suggested organizer Khaled Akkawi move the event to the Broward County Convention Center instead of the auditorium, which is in a park. He was amenable to the idea although his attorney said he believes Akkawi has the contractual right to remain at the auditorium through 2025.
A gunman killed 17 students and staff members Feb. 14 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, which is in the Fort Lauderdale suburb of Parkland.

Fort Lauderdale to move gun show after Parkland shooting.

And before you get mad, I just want to point out that the City Commissioners originally wanted the show ended, period. But I guess lawyers intervened, reminded them that the guy a contract till 2015 and that also they would be violating the First Amendment, specifically the “free assembly” section.

And no, they are not sending them to some crappy location. War Memorial Auditorium is an old-school hall while the Broward County Convention Center is modern and a better facility and now close to the beach with a heavier traffic from all the hotels in the area and the Port Everglades where all the cruise ships dock. In fact the port is the next door neighbor.

Why do I get the feeling that the City Commissioners screwed the pooch when they rushed to kill the Gun Show?

The late Bob Brownell and I have something in common.

I think I got this from Brownell’s Twitter account and it depicts Bob Brownell checking the company’s newsletter IIRC. I had an immediate moment of nostalgia because of the machine displayed: A Multilith 1250 Offset Printer. I had mentioned before that my dad had a print shop and that is the machine we had alongside a newer version of the same model. I started working them things when I was about 12 years old and kept working for 10 years till I went to college in the US. In fact, half the money I had for college was wages made working with that machine.

Dad sort of retired, but kept his printing shop as something to do or else mom would kill him for being a pest. He had only two clients and would work Monday through Wednesday only; Thursdays he and mom would drive to the beach and spend the long weekend in an apartment we had.

When he passed, one of the most difficult things I had to do getting everything set for mom was to sell the printing stuff. It was not easy and it showed me how nasty a moral-less could some people be. The machines did end in the hands of good people who paid well and appreciated the care we had given to the machines for decades.

Sorry to have gotten all mushy, but it guess sharing some personal stuff now and then is a requisite for a Blogger.
