The Illegal Alien Caravan has been stopped.

Reading about it over 90 Miles From Tyranny. Kinda funny that the Mexican Government suddenly remembered that it had to enforce its laws regarding immigration.

I have been wondering who was behind this political stunt. We are talking people from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and other Central American countries, and then I read in the tweets one little word: Chiapas.

Zapatista Army of National Liberation
Chiapas is the southernmost state of Mexico and port of entry for illegals in Mexico. But it is also the location of one Zapatista Army of National Liberation, as far as I know the only active communist militant group in Mexico.  They had a brief moment of Media Relevancy in the 90s when NAFTA came about and Comandante Marcos was seen (briefly) as the Mexican Che Guevara and it was true, just as Guevara, Comandante Marcos did not do squat.

The Zapatistas have been hanging around in Chiapas doing pretty much nothing but being pests. Are they directly responsible for the Caravan? No idea, but it would not surprise me that they had an influence in it, specially after reading their list of demands.

Some people were seeing the Caravan as an invasion, others were seeing it as a Day at the Range.

Oh well.

South Africa and the Left

I saw Miguel’s post on Winnie Mandela and it reminded me of something that I thought I would touch on.

Years ago, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg did an interview on TV.  During which, she talked about South Africa’s drafting of a new constitution.

She recommended that South Africa not follow in the footsteps of the US Constitution but instead follow the guidelines of the UN.

So fast forwarding from 1993, what we are seeing is a genocide (yes, really) of white farmers and land owners in South Africa.

White farmers are being attacked, raped, and murdered while the goverment does nothing to protect them.  The level of violence they are experiencing is horrible.

The South African government has voted to take the land from white farmers, some who have been there for generations, and give it to black African farmers.  (I guess they didn’t need that pesky 4th Amendment after all)

The situation was so bad that the Australian goverment was going to give emergency visas to white South African farmers as refugees, but after protests by South Africa and Lefty Australians, that was halted.

Apparently social justice means that because someone’s great grandfather escaped persecution in Europe and started a farm in Africa more than a century ago, it’s perfectly justified for a gang of native Africans to rape your wife and daughters to death.

Our Constitution was set up to protect minority rights.  Hence our status as a representative republic with Constitutionally protected civil rights.

South Africa’s Constitution was not.

The result is mass killings and property seizures in the name of redistributive social justice.

If there was ever a lesson in the 21st century as to why we should not whittle away at our Constitution, it is South Africa.

Jack booted government thugs are not killing people, they are just turning a social justice eye to the mob violence that is.  The government isn’t engaged in any “illegal” land grabs because it legalized the redistribution of land BEFORE is kicked the rightful owners off.

Without our Constitution intact, we are no better off than South Africa.

Rules for thee but not for me

One of the things that is tearing this country apart is the idea of “rules for thee but not for me.”

We see this everywhere.

It could be selective enforcement of laws where a citizen’s life is ruined for a DUI, but an illegal immigrant who drives drunk and runs somebody over gets goverment sponsored sanctuary.

It could also be moral standards, where the Trump administration gets called out by the media for having mostly white interns while HuffPo’s intern pool looks like a sorority photo at SMU.

This is often dismissed as hypocrisy, but it’s not.  Hypocrisy is moral blindness.  It’s not seeing how your behavior goes against your stated code for others.

This is deliberate.  Ever more, rules – be them the law or just social norms – are less for the governance of society and more as weapons in a culture war.

The point is to inflict casualties on the other side by inconveniencing your opponents as much as possible without affecting your side.

The radical Left wants goverment funding of Planned Parenthood BECAUSE it is a nail in the eye of conservatives, and they hate them.  It’s not going increase “healthcare” for poor women, it will launder federal funds for the DNC.

Sanctuary cities are full of crime and cost the tax payers billions.  The pain is felt the most by the working class, who the wealthy politicians hate, while providing the wealthy politician’s wealthy neighbors with cheap lawn care and pool cleaners.  It’s a policy engineered to hurt the lower classes who are held in contempt.

Celebrities calling for gun control while having armed guards isn’t hypocrisy.  They know you like guns.  They hate you for not being a member of their elite class.  They know that restricting gun rights will hurt you.  So they will push for every law that will hurt you but allow them to keep their armed guards.  It’s not a moral blind spot, it is weaponizing the law for class warfare.

Every once in a while one of these legal bombs will land danger close to the side that fired it and frag their own.

The Parkland kids who were pushed by the media onto the national stage were child solders in a culture war.

Nothing they proposed will prevent the next school shooting.  The people tasked with preventing school shootings failed miserably at their jobs.

They are being used to push gun control that will hurt Red America, where high capacity magazines and assault rifles are not currently banned.  The idea is to turn all of America into New York and California.  It won’t hurt their side, it will hurt ours.

So far the Parkland kids haven’t gotten a national AWB.  But in their push for “school safety” as cover for their anti-gun efforts, they got school safety.

They hate it.

This one landed danger close and they are now the casualties of their own actions.

One would think that this friendly fire incident would teach them a lesson: don’t impose rules on others that you don’t want imposed on yourself.

Unfortunately, I believe that for people like these kids, they are too far gone down the path of culture war lawfare to learn it.

We can enjoy a brief moment of schadenfreude, but all this will do is harden their resolve against us.

When they smell blood in the water… “10 South Florida mayors sue state to make their own gun laws”

Via Derek Ward.

WESTON, Fla. – Ten mayors in Miami-Dade and Broward counties have announced they are banding together to sue the state of Florida for the right to make their own gun laws.
A state law bans cities and counties from imposing their own gun-control rules. City leaders can be personally fined up to $5,000 if they disobey the law. The mayors said the penalties are unconstitutional.

10 South Florida mayors sue state to make their own gun laws.

The Antis saw the Legislature collapse at the emotions of Parkland and now they are trying to see if the courts can be equally intimidated. They would love nothing more than start throwing “ordinances that would create such a commotion and confusion across the county that people would actually be afraid to step outside their homes legally carrying a sidearm or even going to the range.

The fines imposed by the law have to come out of their pockets and not the taxpayer’s money. That makes penalties for violations of the law very real and very painful.

The following quote made me laugh the hardest because of the city being represented:

“The idea that we cannot control our own space to make sure it’s safe for our residents and visitors is astounding,” Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber said

Please allow me to show you how well Miami Beach “controls” its own space.

Breaking the Four Rules = Death (Very Graphic Video)

Just follow the Four Rules and this will not happen.

A dull knife is worthless

I did some wheeling and dealing online and traded some gun parts for a couple of Extrema Ratio knives.  Extrema Ratio is a knife company out of Italy that uses high end German steel.

I love the design of their BF (Basic Folder) series, which are the least over built knives they make.

Their quality is incredible, unfortunately so is their price.  Which is why I hadn’t gotten any until now.  I finally got two by trade.  I managed to score the deal I did because they needed some TLC.  Really, the previous owner sharpened them on a brick or something.

I found a guy, Josh, online who runs his own knife sharpening business called Razor Edge Knives.

I emailed him and told him my needs.  He responded quickly.  I filled out the form he sent me and I shipped off my knives.  His turn around was very vast and his work was excellent.  The edges look factory fresh.

He even worked with me on regrinding the edge to a bevel angle that works best for me.  I’m a huge fan of my Spyderco Sharpmaker and he set the bevel so that I could easily touch up the edge on my Sharpmaker’s fixed 20 degree angle.

His prices were very reasonable for the amount of work and the quality of the job done, about $20 per knife plus shipping.

I was so impressed, I wanted to write this post to support a small business owner who really did an outstanding job.

If you have some knives that are in need of a new edge, I highly recommend Razor Edge Knives.
