A couple of days ago, I posted about Florida State Representative Margaret Good and her bill trying to get Universal Background Checks in our fair state.

The Bureau of Justice Statistics just published its latest version of Source and Use of Firearms Involved in Crimes: Survey of Prison Inmates, 2016. It comes with some very interesting numbers:

What a surprise! Black market and stolen firearms make 49.6% of how criminals get their guns. A quarter of the guns are obtained from somebody they know like family member. And only 10.1% from the legal sources the Democrats hate the most. The Gun Show loophole? Statistically so small it is useless. Now you can slap the next idiot who uses it as excuse.

One thing I don’t see: Those pesky “unregulated”  internet sales between those “unlicensed dealers” (citizens) that we were told were fueling violent crime. Maybe the poor criminals do not have access to the Internet and that is why they don’t shop in Gunbroker.com on Guns America.

Now, they will try to use the Purchased/Borrowed part as excuse, but let’s not forget that knowingly selling or giving a firearm to a felon is already illegal and the same is providing a firearm to somebody you know it is going to commit a felony.

First of all, just because a policy is supported by the majority doesn’t mean that it is a good policy.  Slavery, the Holocaust, segregation, stoning women accused of adultery, there are plenty of past and current things that are supported by the majority but are intrinsically evil.

Poll: A majority of Americans support raising the top tax rate to 70 percent

That’s not good.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and her Republican critics have both called her proposal to dramatically increase America’s highest tax rate “radical” but a new poll released Tuesday indicates that a majority of Americans agrees with the idea.

In the latest The Hill-HarrisX survey, which was conducted Jan. 12 and 13 after the newly elected congresswoman called for the U.S. to raise its highest tax rate to 70 percent, found that a sizable majority of registered voters, 59 percent, supports the idea.

Almost 60% of Americans have bought into the idea that envy is good.  Of course, they won’t call it envy, they will say something like “the rich need to pair their fair share.”  That is bullshit that translates to “it’s not fair that they have more than I do, so take it from them.”

Increasing the highest tax bracket to 70 percent garners a surprising amount of support among Republican voters. In the Hill-HarrisX poll, 45 percent of GOP voters say they favor it while 55 percent are opposed to it.

That shocks me

Independent voters who were contacted backed the tax idea by a 60 to 40 percent margin while Democratic ones favored it, 71 percent to 29 percent.

That doesn’t.

Ocasio-Cortez is among a group of progressive legislators which includes Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) who have called for increasing federal income tax rates on wealthier Americans. The New York Democrat kicked off a debate within her party in a Jan. 6 interview with “60 Minutes” during which she said she would support setting the highest tax, which she said would kick in at individuals 10 millionth dollar of income, at 70 percent.

In her comments to the CBS show, Ocasio-Cortez referenced tax rates that had once been in place during the mid-20th century. During the 1950s and 60s, the wealthiest Americans were once taxed at a rate in excess of 90 percent.

“That doesn’t mean all $10 million are taxed at an extremely high rate, but it means that as you climb up this ladder you should be contributing more,” she said.

First of all, the marginal 70% tax rate of the 1960’s didn’t start at $10 million.  It was over 90% by $1.5 million (adjusted for inflation) and 70% by $295K.  So either she doesn’t know what the historical tax rates were or she’s lying.

What has she promised in return for such high taxes?

Forcing Americans onto the worst healthcare bureaucracy conceivable?

Providing “free” tuition to a college system that has been reduced in value to nothing by saturation so young Americans can get another worthless piece of paper that conveys no useful or employable skills?

So funnel endless supplies of money to well connected investment class Leftists who own the means of production on green technologies?

Most of the people who cheer for his 70% income tax rate will not see their lives improved in any way, so really all they want is to make the rich guy less rich for the sake of making him less rich.  That’s not a moral position.

As people become more miserable under this system, not less, the problem with this attitude becomes the marginal tax rates below $10 Million.

This was the attitude that killed so many in Russia a century ago.  The farmer with six cows could turn in his neighbor with twelve cows to be executed for being a Kulak.  But as more Russians starved, the farmer with one cow would turn in the farmer with six cows.  There was no end to the madness until 10 millions Russians starved to death as no farms produced anything.

When we can tax 70% over $10 million because the majority make less than that, we can do it to $1 Million, than $500,000, than $250,000 and so on.  Once you cross the moral Rubicon where envy is justification for high taxes, the only limit on where you draw the line is what the angry mob thinks is fair, which is exactly $1 more than the angry mob has.

This poll shows that for the majority of Americans the moral Rubicon has been crossed.  Now it is up to AOC and the Progressives to figure out what is the floor is that they can drive punitive tax rates to.

After reading J. Kb’s great post, I had to add something that has been going around in my mind for a while now.

I would be a fool if I denied there has not been abuses on the weak. That is nothing that can be discussed or denied.  But it has been the Liberal Thinking that has helped produce more bullies and more sexual abusers than anything else. Free Love in the 60s? Hey ladies, you were supposed to fuck unfettered or risk being shamed as a prude who was not with the movement, right? Sex is beautiful, open your mind and your legs, don’t be square. If you feel bad, it is your fault because you are still carrying your parents wrong ideas about what a woman should be. You are a woman, hear me roar. Feminism is sex without responsibility and we want the pill and free abortions. Fucking for Peace and the end of the Vietnam war and all that other good shit.  And this is the same Feminist movement that criticized Playboy and later Hooters, but mostly because they would not submit to their bullshit.  Of course, now that Hefner died the CEO decided to go SJW and Playboy no longer publishes nudes because the idiot probably believed people bought the magazine for the articles.

Fast forward 40 years later and suddenly (just like they did with global warming/cooling) we have the #MeToo movement and its predecessor “No means No.” You raise a full generation on the principle that sex is a right to be exercised now and women must submit ’cause feminism and then flip the switch once you can see the political gain in it.

And abused women? Also became a joke. I was raised under the principle of not harming a woman in any way, shape or fashion and not to accept anybody else do the same. A wife beater deserved a long and precise tune up my kin and friends of the abuse, followed by a nice trip to court for the divorce procedure.  But this attitude was squashed by the old mantra “Violence does not solve anything” and “Let the law take care of things” which meant she was supposed to get a restraining order and hope “beloved” did not come back to finish the job because she also had to wait between 3 to 10 days to get a gun for her defense.  How many cases like this have we seen through the years with a most unpleasant ending?

And then bullying. has anybody found yet a fireproof kumbaya system to stop bullies torture other kids? I think the system is batting a huge fat zero on that one.   The only proven method to stop a bully is to confront the asshole and make him bleed if possible. How many people have repeated the same story? “I was bullied by Jimmy Nasty for years, but he quit after I broke his nose/kick him in the balls/broke his arm.”  I know it was my solution with three bullies I had: With one I lost the fight but he respected me after that. The second was sent home with nose and lips leaking red stuff and the third one, I tried to stick his head out the school bus window without lowering it first. I was told stitches were involved. There were no more attempts against my person and nobody dared to bully anybody else in front of me or they knew I would lose my composure.  But the way I did things are not approved today because it involves violence, as if there was not violence already present in the issue.

The Liberal Hive Mind works at its best when a problem needs to be fixed. And problems are not found, they are experts at creating new problems so they never run out of outrage and people-controlling solutions. If an individual managed to fix his problem without their help, by definition the individual did it wrong and must be corrected.

The story of King Camp Gillette is legendary in the annals of engineering.

There were several inventors working on razors that were an alternative to the straight razor.  King Camp Gillette’s design and means of production dominated the market.  His method of using blanked and ground strip steel, as opposed to forged blades reduced the cost of his blades considerably and he won a goverment contract to provide razors to our troops in WWI, as the use of gas masks made a clean shave necessary.

Over a century later, the owners of Gillette put the company’s name in the annals of worst corporate ads ever developed.

A product developed and marketed for men decided to attack a strawman caricature of men as violent, sexual predatory, condescending assholes in need of reforming.

The statement “boys will be boys” is not an excuse for bullying or sexual assault, as the commercial suggests.  It is an excuse for why boys laugh at fart jokes that make moms cringe, and damnit, you are not taking fart jokes away from us.

Gillette still references the #MeToo movement after that blew out as fast as it blew in when it transmogrified from taking out some really disgusting sexual predators in Hollywood to a witch hunt that destroyed innocent lives over false and spurious accusations.

The Kavanaugh hearing was the death knell for #MeToo, where the hard line of the Social Justice crowd demonstrated that they didn’t care that allegations could be provably false, they still wanted blood.

The reaction to an ad assuming men are rapists and bullies unless they are rehabilitated by some corporate initiative has been overwhelmingly negative.

“Buy our razors so you will stop being an ass-grabbing, bigoted, mansplainer” isn’t really a message that motivates men to separate themselves from their money for your product.

Especially with a product that has so much competition and isn’t a lifestyle brand.

I wonder if heads are going to roll at the P&G board room that thought this was a good idea.

I have never been so glad that I am bearded as I am today.

The results are amazingly good but for a couple of things and barely off scale. One of those things is I am low in what is called MCH which is “the average quantity of hemoglobin present in a single red blood cell.”

I have a touch of anemia. You may begin to laugh now.

It makes sense in a way: I cut down red meats two years ago to almost nothing but maybe one or two juicy steaks a quarter. All the bad stuff associated with red meat excess is in great shape according to the lab test including cholesterols so low they can almost claim minority status.

I checked online and saw that liver is a good source of iron which is what I need to fix this thing. I love me some liver and onions so that is coming. But the perfect combination of red meat and beans can also be ingested to heal my condition, but my Texan friends frown on it (actually hate it) , but there is nothing they can do:

I believe Old NFO will be sending me Iron supplements just so I don’t cook the “abomination” in the name of health. LOL
