Ego almost gets Miami Driver killed.
The motorcycle passed on the driver’s side of a 2014 black Nissan and cut in front of driver Lyndon Edwards, 27, of Miami Gardens, and ended up on the passenger side.
“So I rolled down the window and said, ‘Guy, what are you doing? I could have killed you,’ and he just started flipping middle fingers at me and cursing,” said Edwards.
That’s when the motorcyclist hit the passenger side mirror with his fist, cracking it, Edwards said.
The motorcycle sped away but Edwards was able to catch up. He used his cellphone to record video of the motorcycle but its paper license tag was rolled up so the numbers could not be seen.
“I guess he got tired of me following him so when we got to the ramp to I-95 he stopped and pointed his gun at me,” Edwards said.
The motorcyclist stopped, put the kickstand down, got off the bike, and fired several gunshots at the car as it drove by, said FHP Lt. Alex Camacho.
I think I covered rice-burner bikers three or four years ago. There is a subculture of hyper aggressive pricks that will go stupid for the slightest of perceived insults and their signature move is smashing rear view mirrors and speed away.
Yes, they even have a clothing line!
The driver of the car sought ego satisfaction for his mirror and got an insurance claim to fill and a pair of new undies. And your average vehicle is going to have a tough time trying to catch up with a crotch rocket, so don’t even think about how you would have acted differently. You give chase, specially after the non-deadly-force deed was done, you are escalating the situation.
You have insurance. Let them take care of the car.
