And another one of O’Sullivan’s Officers comes for our guns

Today’s installment of why I am reticent to support the US military anymore, the Muslim Marine is here to tell you why you shouldn’t own guns that look like the ones he used to carry in uniform.

I’m not questioning is military service, I am adding it to my list of examples of why former military service doesn’t mean a person is a patriot or great American or their opinion is worth shit.

I will question his knowledge of guns.  Just because the USMC taught him to shoot their issued weapons doesn’t me he knows shit beyond that.

That’s a big fucking difference.  The government decided that in 1934.  One round fired for every action of the trigger has been the line in the sand between military and civilian legal (without an NFA tax stamp) for nearly a century.

Everything else is irrelevant.  But don’t question his superior Marine Corps knowledge of guns.

This argument is an automatic disqualifier for me.  It is the argument of statists and tyrannical bullies.

It translates to “you will lose if you go up against our superior firepower so just accept the restriction of your rights so we don’t have to hurt you.”

It’s also wrong by the way.

It’s right in the strictest sense that an AR won’t’ kill an M1 Abrams MBT or F-16.  But it will do a good job of taking out the pilots, tank crew, aircrew, maintenance crew, supply crew, refueling crew, etc, that is needed to operate, repair, reload, and refuel those great weapons on war.  A bunch of M1s and F-16s sitting empty and broken with nobody to drive or fly them are not much of a threat.

And lastly, if the AR-15 is such a horrible weapon of war that shouldn’t be in civilian hands, why would it be ineffective against the military?

But I digress…

This is a very slippery slope to banning any centerfire rifle ammo.  Either he knows this and his intent is much more nefarious than just banning AR-15s or he doesn’t know this and he’s not nearly the gun expert that he claims to be.

Personally, I want my self-defense guns to destroy flesh and practically leave an ‘irreparable’ large exit wound.  The technical term for that is “terminal ballistics.”  You want to stop the threat at quickly as possible to doing as much damage as you can.

As for the range question, I might not have a need for 500 yards of self-defense.  I can’t speak for others on this topic.  But given that I have posted before about Antifa and other groups stocking up on body armor, having a centerfire rifle for self-defense is an absolute necessity.

First of all, the AR-15 is not a battlefield weapon.

Second, I’ve seen videos from Seattle and Portland, and what I saw were people launching IEDs.   I’m not sure if an AR-15 is enough.  I’d actually like some battlefield weapons to repel angry mobs armed with explosives.  An M249 SAW is on my list of wants.

The What-If game isn’t how we decide civil liberties.

Perhaps I shouldn’t chuckle at the irony of arguing “we should suspend civil liberties a little to save some loves” coming from a Muslim.

If this guy was just another asshole with an opinion, I don’t think I would care.

But this guy is standing on his superior knowledge and expertise in guns and weapons of war from his Marine Corps experience to tell you why he should decide what you should be allowed to own to defend yourself.

Oh yeah, and if you think you’re going to defend your freedom with that super dangerous AR-15 that is also not powerful enough to take on the US military with it, he’ll drive a Main Battle Tank through your house or kill you with a Hellfire from a Reaper to prove his point.

The Left sure does love a Junta.

The party of “science”

I’ve seen this floating around the internet for a couple of days:

One former Democratic Congressional Candidate thought he’s Tweet something similar like it was his original thought.

Except…

The surface temperature of the ISS ranges from -250°F to 250°F depending on if it is facing the sun or not.

Moreover, the solar panels used by NASA are not the same as the ones you put on your house or on a solar farm.  The panels use a high-efficiency material to capture as much energy as possible while still allowing the panels to be thin and lightweight.

The overall efficiency of the panels is lower because earth-based solar panels generally have multiple layers for photon capture.  The ISS panels do not so to save weight.

As a result, the ISS solar panels are ridiculously expensive, about $150 million to cover the area of half a football field and generate 120 kW of power in direct sunlight.

One of the reasons the ISS panels are as effective as they are is that they are in orbit, with no atmosphere to reduce the intensity of the light hitting them.

The problem with the solar panels in Texas isn’t so much the cold as the ice and snow that reflects the light reducing the photovoltaic performance.

People who actually understand science and engineering know why this is a stupid argument.

People who don’t know science but are members of the “party of science” and just want to dunk on Texas think this is brilliant.

The NYPD makes me sad

That is a gorgeous Colt Police Positive.  I’m going to guess 1920’s vintage from the grips.

This is a collectors’ item, probably an heirloom.  My guess is that it was somebody’s grandfather’s gun that has been handed down in the family and was stolen by some piece-of-shit human garbage scumbag and sold on the street for cash or drugs, and then got sold on the street again where it ended up in the hands of the person it was taken from.

This belongs in a hands of a collector who values it and treasures it for the historical piece that it is.

Instead, it will probably be melted down by the NYPD.

This may be the first time I actually root for the notoriously bad NYPD corruption, hoping that some officer who knows what this is makes it walk out of the evidence locker and spares it from the fate of being turned into paperclips or something.

This is why YOU NEED TO BUY A GUN SAFE AND LOCK UP YOUR GUNS!!!

Because that treasured gun you love so much that has been in your family for nearly a century will end up being turned into scrap by the police after they take off some thug who used it to hold up a liquor store if the guy who breaks into your house finds it a box in your closet or under your bed.

There is poetry in this

… and probably more than a dash of Schadenfreude.

South Carolina gun manufacturer Palmetto State Armory is looking to expand, and has picked a 69,000 square foot facility in Myrtle Beach for a new retail location and gun range. The building was formerly the home of the Sun News newspaper, which moved to a smaller space last year, but soon it will be home to the gun company’s eighth retail location.

Palmetto State Armory Goes Big With Latest Location

Out newspaper, in big ass gun store and range?

Southwest Florida Blogshoot – Saturday 27 February.

And I will do a Copy/paste from Borepatch. Some extra comments at the bottom.

We are a go for the February Southwest Florida Blogshoot a week from today.  The weather looks like it will continue “National Hate Florida Week” for another 7 days:

We have the range that we tried for last time – the one with a  25 yard pistol range and a 200 yard rifle range.  Miguel is going to sight in some rifles, so we can probably do a sighting in clinic.  I just sighted one in a couple months back and so have some reasonably fresh experience.

Florida’s own Divemedic has graciously offered to give a “First Aid for the Shooting Range” overview.  And there’s a surprise that Miguel is working on that’s still under wraps, but should be really fun.  And The Queen Of The World is catering (again).  ‘Nuff said.
Many thanks to the three RSOs who have said that they’ll help out.

Please leave a comment to confirm that you are planning to come on the 27th so we will have a final headcount.  Also, check back tomorrow for the form you will need to download and fill out (ah, where would we be without paperwork?).

The Venue:

When: Saturday, February 27 at 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM.

Where: Manatee Gun and Archery Club, 1805 Logue Rd, Myakka City, FL 34251

Facilities:  Some of our readers are bringing their betters halves (as am I) and the fairer sex will be relieved to know that there are proper, civilized facilities in the club house.

Cost: $20 per person to cover range rental and sundries.

And I add:

Bring your sidearm and at least 2 good magazines or speedloaders (more is always better) It will NOT be a high count shootout, just the opposite. I figure less than 50 rounds if you get really excited and want to shoot a lot
And all levels of pistol shooters are invited because you will only be competing against yourselves, let’s not be shy. (Yes, you can shoot .22 LR if you want to)

If you have a holster and pouches, bring them and shoot using them. If you don’t have them, no problem either you will get to shoot too. Again, you will only be competing against yourself.

Those in the forum may already know the “surprise” and I have at least one person bringing a shot timer, but I am believe in back ups.

In other news: I am bringing my Romanian Bang Stick. Anybody wanting to shoot AKlon, bring 7.62×39 ammo. And that reminds me, Does anybody know how to figure out a thread? I have the stupid WASR screwed up by Century Arms  which does not come with the traditional 14-1LH but something right handed and I would love to figure out what is it after a decade and a half of wondering.
