That is a hard and fast rule of economics.

Dick’s Sporting Goods went anti-gun and got hit hard in the bottom line.

The North Face decided to tell an oil company that wanted to buy employees custom fleeces to piss off, despite 100% of their products being made of materials that are petroleum products.

So it was a shock to the gun world when Arc’teryx decided to combine the mistakes of both Dick’s and North Face and tell a gun company that wanted custom gear to piss off.

Arc’teryx is extremely popular with the tactical and action shooting crowd and they are also a supplier of military equipment.

This email is the sort of thing that goes around the gun-web quickly and makes the gun world boycott a brand.

Considering that the tactical and action shooting crowd drops money on fancy new toys and equipment like water on a forest fire.

USPSA is a fashionista central of $200 all synthetic tactical pants, Salomon trail running shoes, and the latest and greatest in custom molded Kydex gear on a molle belt.  Apparently, all the money that these guys save on handloading goes into clothing.

If you sell to the tactical world, do not piss off tactical/action shooters unless you want to feel the hurt in your profits.

But I digress…

The good news is that Arc’teryx corporate caught wind of what happened and sent out a five-alarm apology and clarification.

“The email screenshot expressing a restrictive policy on corporate sales to tactical industry business was sent out in error. It does not reflect our current policy. The customer has been notified, apologized to, and been put in touch with a representative from the Arc’teryx LEAF business unit”.

So here is what think happened.

Note this important tidbit:

The employee who rejected the request had her pronouns in her signature.

I believe that this Service Coordinator is every bit the stereotype that you’d expect someone with pronouns in her signature to be.

She saw a request from a gun company and unilaterally sent out this “we don’t agree with your values” bullshit not realizing the size of the hornets’ nest she was kicking.

I can imagine that she was even proud of her decision.  “I told my coworkers that I told a gun company to fuck off, and then everyone in the break room applauded.”

Arc’teryx corporate, watching the civilian sales of $250 tactical pants go to zero, panicked and had to apologize and throw that employee under the bus as hard as they could without violating Canadian employment laws.

The most important lesson to learn from this is: anyone with their pronouns in their signature should be fired immediately before they tank your business.

They got the news of the incident and the psycho squad came out in full force. Here are just a few samples.

I have to admit that the “White Supremacists targets Debbie Wasserman Schulz for killing” was a nice political advertisement touch. If it came from her and her staff or came from the silly brain of the Fort Lauderdale mayor is still unknown. Ain’t a shame that it turned out to be just an accident by a member of a protected minority?

PS: And police has not released the name of the driver yet. That should tell you enough.

*If you don’t understand the point of this, just look at how many mommy blogs and etsy stores that celebrate “mather’s day” or “single mom’s day” on father’s day.  The Left has to destroy everything and attacking two parent homes is on the top of that list.  So while I’m sympathetic to single moms, especially widows, father’s day is our day and attacking it on behalf of single moms is a partisan attack on the culture war.

I did not check, but my guess is somebody may have pointed out that nowhere in the recently passed law there is anything that had to do with allowing people to use cars as weapons against parades. But at least have a bit of integrity and admit you were wrong, but just don’t state you did not say what you indeed said it and posted it for God and Country to screen capture and keep for the future.

During a Gay Pride parade in Ft Lauderdale, a pick up truck (the preferred weapon of the Homophobic White Supremacists) ran over people, killing one and sending another to the hospital. The driver of the truck, a white man, was arrested and taken away by police.  Mayor Dean Trantalis, was quick to offer an explanation of what had happened:

“This is a terrorist attack against the LGBT community,” Trantalis told Local 10 News. “This is exactly what it is. Hardly an accident. It was deliberate, it was premeditated, and it was targeted against a specific person. Luckily they missed that person, but unfortunately, they hit two other people.”

Well, as usual first impressions specially colored by the paint of Victim Politics tend to be rather wrong. Here is a picture of the white supremacist’s assault truck:

Wait one second, Is that a gay flag? But…but we were told this was a HATE CRIME!

But wait, it gets worse.

The homophobic White Supremacist is part of the Gay community?

Police took the man who was driving the truck into custody and were questioning him. He was wearing a Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus t-shirt.
Justin Knight, the chorus’ president, said through a spokesman that chorus members were the ones injured and that the driver was “part of the Chorus family.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the tragic accident that occurred when the Stonewall Pride Parade was just getting started,” Knight said in a statement. “Our fellow Chorus members were those injured and the driver was also a part of the Chorus family. To my knowledge, this was not an attack on the LGBTQ community. We anticipate more details to follow and ask for the community’s love and support.”

So this is turning out to be a sad accident after all. South Florida for all its faults, it is pretty tolerant and while people may not embrace the overly ostentatious San Francisco style of Gay Pride (Even gays reject the feather and Sherwin Williams Make Up Displays of gayness) full fledged attacks are very rare.

But Mayor Dean Trantalis saw an opportunity to attract attention to the city for the wrong reasons and possibly champion himself as future hero of the oppressed minority group. I would hazard the reason is that Ft Lauderdale’s residents are getting a bit tired of having to boil water every month because broke clan water mains keep bursting all over town. And, of course, right or wrong, he is getting blamed for this infrastructure issue and perhaps he took a chance to divert the attention. Or maybe he is just another jackass trying to get brownie points with the voters by making stuff up and drumming up fear.

Well, at least the driver was White.

And amazing concert dedicated to a great musician.
