Where a Hispanic Catholic, and a Computer Geek write about Gun Rights, Self Defense and whatever else we can think about.

Semi-retired like Vito Corleone before the heart attack. Consiglieri to J.Kb and AWA. I lived in a Gun Control Paradise: It sucked and got people killed. I do believe that Freedom scares the political elites.

…………. DO WANT.
Miguel! Please, more info than just the pic!
I wish I had the story behind other that it is related to Thanksgiving.
The military used to store weapons packed in dry, steel, storage cans. They were hermetically sealed and preserved and the guns could be tucked away for years without issue.

Kevin’s article suggested that the last of the M1 cans had probably been opened by the early 60’s.
The latest issue of the Garand Collectors Association has an article about the possibility of the return of around 90,000 M1s sent to Korea.
There is one picture, of several made in 2012 by employees of a company that was attempting buy the rifles, that showed multiple 9 can pallets of canned M1s.
The number of rifles still stored that way was stated to be 5000!
Among other crates of rifles that were opened for inspection, one can was also opened, and the rifles were reportedly in perfect condition.
Oh well.
I had hoped it was either someone you were acquainted with – with a FFL – had come across them, or someone at CMP had posted the pic after receiving the pistolas from the Philippines or Korea.
Those are either brand spankie new 1911s or ones that were completely rebuilt and stored.
Suddenly I have an interest in home canning…
Yeah, I could go for that on my Christmas list for sure.
I want the grease gun can behind the 1911
