I know for a fact that is the general showed at an IDPA match with those “skills”, he’d politely be told to attend a basic pistol course first. Give him a pass on the qualifier? Not by a fat chance, even if he tried to bribe me with a fully loaded Bradley , ten M4s and a pallet full of ammo.

  1. This is the General that oversees TRADOC, the Training and Doctrine Command.

The General in charge of Army training can’t shoot according to the army training manual.

    1. He’s not the TRADOC commander. He’s CASCOM (Combined Arms Support Command). He’s a former quartermaster with a Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Parachute Rigger Badge.

      1. TRADOC is under CASCOM. I’m not questioning all of his qualifications. But a leader should know how to do things right. Lead by example. He is not using that weapon properly. He is a poor example of following sidearm operation procedures.

He’s list of accolades does not make him above reproach. Especially if pictures are going to be taken and used in PR.

  2. Handguns are pretty inferior weapons for warfighting. As such, the Army does comparably very little handgun training within the line combat arms disciplines and handguns are only issued to a relative few. The standard qualification course for handguns is also less than challenging for anyone who is generally fit and knows the very basics of pistol use.

  3. At least he has the business end pointed in the proper direction, but boy is his right thumb gonna hurt if he puts too many rounds through that gat. At first I thought maybe his hands may have been too small for the M9 frame and he couldn’t reach the trigger, but it’s looking like he’s got too MUCH finger hangin out there. Not to mention the slide-bite he’s gonna get on the top of his left thumb if he gets it too high.
I see that a lot at my range when I’m RSOing, and it’s not just done by vets and cops.

+100 on not using that photo for PR.
