HERMITAGE, Tenn. (WTVF) — One person was killed in a shooting in Hermitage Friday night. Metro police are investigating a claim of self defense in the shooting.
Metro Nashville Police officials say it happened at 4331 Old Hickory Boulevard around 9:20 p.m. in the parking lot of Urban Air.
When officers arrived at the scene, David Starnes Jr., 23, was there. He admitted to shooting the victim, 20-year-old Timothy Wilks.
Detectives were told Wilks and a friend were taking part in a prank robbery as part of a YouTube video and approached a group of people – including Starnes – with butcher knives.
Starnes told detectives he was unaware of the prank and shot Wilks in defense of himself and the others in the group.
No charges have been placed at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

One killed in Hermitage shooting; suspect claiming self defense

Also included in the prize: “Honorable mention for Failed Victim selection Process.” And yes, he gets the Darwin Awards Honor Society pin.

And he was not alone in the contest. This guy got arrested for also playing the YouTube Dumbass sweepstake. The dumb Mike Foxtrot actually tried to mess with a mother with two small children who smartly recognized he was a fake cop.

  1. Charge his (Wilks) fellow idiots / accomplices with felony murder.

Offer them a deal, plead guilty and they serve a day a year for the next twenty on the anniversary of their idiocy; community service by telling people how they messed up by the numbers; and put on probation for twenty years.

    1. Unfortunately the Nashville DA is much more likely to want to charge the shooter for not knowing it was a prank than to want to charge the youtubers (unless the youtubers also were wearing maga hats).

Fortunately, Tennesseeans still outnumber Californians in Nashville, so the DA knows he’ll get at least one juror who would high-five the shooter after acquittal. No charges will be be forthcoming.

Twenty years from now it’ll be a different story.

      1. That’s probably why they chose Nashville; they had a chance of getting away with it. If they’d tried this here in east Tennessee (well, maybe not in the center of Knoxville…), the cops would likely just shrug their shoulders and mark it down as suicide by CCW holder.

  2. I have been complaining about that for years.

People put someone in mortal fear and while filming it in order to garner a laugh at someone else’s fear reaction makes you a sadistic piece of shit. Part of the penalty should be putting the video of them freaking the F out while their accomplice dies on the sidewalk out there on social media, so we can all point and laugh at them. All proceeds from the video go to the person who was forced to shoot them.

  3. I am honestly surprised it took this long for a “prankster” YouTuber to get tuned up or smoked.

Normally they confine that idiocy to shitholes like NYC or LA, so the chance of catching a hollow point tonight minimal at best.

Nashville may be a DNC FOB, but it’s still Tennessee, “Patron state of shootin’ stuff” as Marky Mark said in shooter (RIP Mr. Rate/Levon Helm). The chances of catching hell or bullets was increased by an exponential rate compared to the other places they do this stupid shit.
