Where a Hispanic Catholic, and a Computer Geek write about Gun Rights, Self Defense and whatever else we can think about.

Semi-retired like Vito Corleone before the heart attack. Consiglieri to J.Kb and AWA. I lived in a Gun Control Paradise: It sucked and got people killed. I do believe that Freedom scares the political elites.

If we can put a camera on every cop, we should have the technology for a saddle that can broadcast the William Tell overture.
LOL…. Battery power would be an issue, but I love the idea.
Horses can carry a ton of weight and a decent Beats by Dr. Dre speaker only weighs a few ounces.

This is an excellent example of why large cities should have mounted units. There are just certain places that a patrol car cannot operate and a patrolman on bicycle or foot just doesn’t have the same ability to maneuver through a crowd the way a man on horse does. (Plus nothing out there matches the ability of a line of horses to disperse a riot.)
Sadly, the city of Portland disbanded our mounted unit a few years back.
Have you ever seen what a really great skilled motorcycle cop can do?

🙂 It had been a while… lesser men in scooters would have dumped it 7 times and not a cone would be safe
The Colombians really take mounted police seriously.

On a technical note, I think police horses don’t have lights and sirens because it frightens the horse. Bicycle lights and siren/speaker units are small and light enough to fit a saddle and bridle.
Why would it frighten a well trained horse? Horses can be trained to deal with gun shots (and obviously cop horses should be) — sirens would just be one more noise to train for.
