Liberal Retardation

This is not a gun post, but I think it is relevant in today’s political climate.

I caught this story over at Twitchy.

Gigi Gorgeous is a transgender (male to female) fashion blogger, model, and YouTube star.  Recently she traveled to Dubai as a tourist and was detained at the airport for being transgendered and goes on to lament just how unfair that is.

gigi

Ms. Gorgeous is a victim.  Not so much of Dubai – she should have seen what happened to her coming – but of hard core, Left wing, Liberal idiocy.

I bet you she knows all about how hateful, bigoted, transphobic, religious extremist Republicans won’t allow her to use the ladies room in South Carolina.  But how in the hell does a professional transgender spend tens of thousands of dollars to buy tickets to Dubai, get a passport and a tourist visa, and not know that transpeople and homosexuals are detained and denied entry to Dubai, and can be imprisoned and even put to death if they are caught engaging in homosexual acts in the country.  The US State Department puts out travel warnings about this.

Not to long ago Dubai was in the news for imprisoning a Norwegian woman who was raped in the country.  Same thing happened to an Australian woman.  And a Dutch woman in the neighboring country of Qatar.

These nations may look like modern countries because of the oil wealth and built by slaves, but they are still culturally the same, backwards, Dark Ages, desert, Third World shit-holes they were a millennia ago.

Trust a Liberal not to know that.

I won’t travel there.  You can’t get in is you have an Israeli stamp in your passport, and they are even detaining people with “very Jewish” last names.  Saudi Arabia won’t even allow in Jews to work.  The only way I end up in a plane flying into a Arab country’s airspace is if I am aboard it delivering ordinance.  Then again, I’m not an idiot.

This type of stupidity is how someone like Obama can say “It’s easier to get a gun than a book” and have people believe him.  Because, these people live in a world where an ISIS shooting up a gay night club is evidence of Republican hate and global warming is the cause of rape by migrants in Europe.  This stupidity is dangerous.  Ms. Gorgeous should be glad she escaped with her life.

He screwed us

Trump, in typical Trump fashion, made a statement that Hillary will take the Presidency – after a rigged election, of course – and appoint anti-gun Justices that will take everybody’s gun, and there is nothing anybody can do to stop her… except maybe those “Second Amendment people.”

The mass media immediately glommed onto this statement as Trump calling for an assassination of Hillary Clinton.

Personally, I think he meant more along the lines of the NRA-ILA and grass roots pro-gun movement, but the media has to media.

There is already the comparison that what Trump did was as bad or worse as Palin’s crosshairs over Congressional districts map that supposedly got Congresswoman Gabby Giffords shot.

palin giffords

Expect it didn’t.  Jared Lee Loughner was completely, grade A fertilizer, bat shit level crazy, and had no political motivation for his shooting.  Still, the media tried to put Gifford’s blood on Palin’s hands.

But now anti-Gun politicians, like Senator Chris Murphy, have jumped onto the “Trump just called for Hillary’s assassination and crazy gun owning Trump fans will do it.”

chris murphy

Whether or not Trump was really calling for an assassination or just making an offhand comment about the political power of gun rights organizations is now neither here nor there.  The media and antis have a narrative and they are going to run with it.

Now my fear is that this imprecise and Trumpish statement by Trump will be used against law abiding gun owners.

Have gun?  Support Trump?  Don’t support Hillary?  Well… maybe you’re just a potential assassin?

I don’t know where this is going to go, but I don’t like it.

As for Trump: a smarter man, or at least a more savvy man, knowing the media was out to sink him, would be a little clearer in making a statement like this, as it is not hard to predict the way the media would twist it.  But no.  He had to be Trump and make a statement as blunt and obtuse as the tips of his stubby, little, cocktail weenie fingers.

Knife Intifada European Edition

A man in Belgium, showing “Allahu Akbar” attacked two police officers with a machete before being killed.

A man yelling “Allahu Akbar” killed one person and wounded three others at a train station in Munich.

A radicalized Muslim man stabbed a French police chief to death.

A man of Somali origin, in Europe by way of Norway, killed one woman and wounded five others with a knife in Russel Square, London.

An Afghan teen wounded four people with a knife and axe on a train in Germany.

A Syrian refugee killed a woman and wounded two others with a machete in Germany.

Two men who pledged allegiance to ISIS beaded an 85 year old priest in a church in Normandy.

An asylum seeker stabbed a woman to death in Sweden.

A Muslim man in a truck killed 84 people by running them over in Nice, France.

In 2015, Israel saw a rise in terrorist attacks against Jewish citizens, mainly in and around Jerusalem.  This wave of attacks was different than previous bouts of terrorism.  There were no suicide bombings, no rockets, and very little action by Hamas or other recognized terrorist groups.  These attacks were random, carried out by “lone wolves” with little to no history of being associated with terrorism, and were egged on by social media.  Most of the attacks were stabbings, leading to this wave of violence being called the “Knife Intifada.”  In a number of cases, Palestinian terrorists tired to run over Israeli pedestrians with cars.

The French and British media, as well as the American far Left press, were deceptive about the Palestinian violence, portraying the Palestinian terrorists as oppressed, sympathetic people who were just lashing out in anger and desperation.

Well, Europe’s collective burring their heads in the sand (or up their own PC asses if you’d like) has brought the Knife Intifada to Europe.  The attacks follow the same pattern.  They are random and without warning.  The attackers are young men, most of who do not have a history of radicalization.  They are armed with knives or edged weapons and attack groups of people in crowded areas.

This technique was very successful in Israel until Israelis started to arm themselves and fight back.   Then the violence abated.

In the UK, British police try to dismiss a Knife Intifada style attack as having no link to terrorism.

So of course British police have given the advice to Britons to run away and hide.

This will not end in Europe.  Most of these countries sided with the Palestinians in 2015  They refuse to recognize these attacks for what they are: terrorism.  They have no way of stopping them and are giving their citizens bad advice.

The body count will rise in Europe until the European governments realize that the Knife Intifada that they ignored, played down, or sympathized with has come to their shores.

It’s too bad that most of Europe as been disarmed.

Raining on your parade

The first US Olympic Gold Medal win was to Ginny Thrasher, 19, who competed in Women’s 10m Air Rifle.  Not just did she take the Gold, she set a new record in her sport for a high score of 208.8

This is impressive as hell.  It needs to be understood, that in most of the world where gun rights do no exist, Olympic shooters are in military or are part of their country’s national shooting team.  Their job is to shoot and win.  The Silver medalist in Woman’s 10m Air Rifle is China’s Du Li, 34, who was trained to shoot starting at a young age at one of China’s sports schools, which are essentially communist boot camps for creating Olympic athletes.

For an American civilian to beat them is really awesome.  Especially a 19 year old civilian.

Yes it is true that the US military sends shooters to the Olympics, but (and no disrespect is intended here) but members of the US Army or USMC shooting teams don’t do any better than their civilian counterparts.  The US’s most winningest Olympic shooter, Kim Rhode, is a civilian.

One of the great aspects of shooting, unlike other Olympic sports, is that is it less about pushing the body to its physical limits and relies much more on skill.  A gymnast or sprinter may get 2 Olympic games under their belt before they retire.  Kim Rhode took the Gold in her first Olympic game in 1996 and 20 years later, she hopes to take the Gold in Rio.

For a shooter like Ginny Thrasher, we can expect great things from her for years to come.

We should all be proud of Ginny Thrasher, and Kim Rhode, and a all US Athletes that represent of the best of America, especially those who bring home a medal.

The Left did not get that memo.  Then again, patriotism is not one of the Left’s strong suits.

Will Wheaton, that Social Justice turd, responded to Ginny Thrasher’s record breaking win by pissing in her Wheaties.

Wheaton

What a piece of shit this guy is.  If you can’t say something nice, it’s probably because Liberal Social Justice has corrupted your soul.

I know it is a little played out, but right now, I think it is appropriate.

I know that Piers “Musket” Morgan is British, so Thrasher’s win was not a win for his team, but the Olympics are about coming together in peace and all that.

But being a Liberal pantywaist, Morgan too had to be nothing but negative.

Morgan

Where is Jeremy Clarkson when you need him?

USA Shooting responded to Morgan in Twitter.

usa shooting

But the US Shooting team is classier than I am, so I’ll post my own response:

Shut up you limey bastard.  When CNN canceled your show for being the lowest rated prime time news show on cable TV, you should have gotten the message that American’s don’t give two shits about what you have to say.

And to the rest of the Leftist world, if you can’t put your politics aside long enough to support America’s Olympic athletes in shooting:

Fuck You!!!

New low for HuffPo

I caught an article at the Huffington Post that represents a new low for them and Left Wing journalism.

ISIS And The NRA: Similarities Abound

Before I go into the article itself, I wanted to take a second to go into the author, whose HuffPo biography says:

John B. Alexander, Ph.D., retired both as a senior military officer and from Los Alamos National Laboratory. He was a Green Beret combat commander in Vietnam and served as an advisor to senior Ministry of Defence officials in Afghanistan. He worked with the National Research Council, Army Science Board, the Council on Foreign Relations and was a senior fellow with a DOD university. A former council member of the Society for Scientific Exploration, he has extensive experience in researching anomalous phenomena. His latest book is UFOs: Myths, Conspiracies, and Realities.

Great.  Here we have another senior military officer who after a lifetime of defending the United States – and supposedly the Constitution – has decided to become the arbiter on civilian gun ownership.  John B. Alexander has been drinking from the same Koolaid as reteried generals Stanley McChrystal and David Petraeus.

John B. Alexander serves as the Huffington Post’s senior writer on the subject of ISIS and Islamic Terrorism given the list of articles he’s written.

According to his personal website he is an expert on national security and UFOs.  So not just has he come out against the right of the people to keep and bear arms, he’s come out against reality.

Now, for this piece of complete and utter bullshit.

It starts with a list of ways the ISIS, a terrorist organization, and the National Rifle Association, America’s oldest civil rights organization, have in common.

(Even the Liberal website Mic.com, which I’ve had to correct in the past, was forced to begrudgingly admit that the NRA is America’s oldest civil rights organization)

The list:

The most important parallels between ISIS and the NRA are:

– Institutionally, both organizations are remorseless about the deaths of victims
– Both use fear and intimidation to obtain their objectives
– Both assume their ideology is superior to the wishes of the majority of citizens
– Both have intensely loyal followers
– Both recruit and indoctrinate members who are ignorant of the basic facts
– Both are relatively small organizations that have impact far beyond their size
– Neither organization will apologize for the harm they cause

That is some seriously morally ambiguous horseshit right there.

That is like saying:

The most important parallels between ISIS and Catholic Hospitals are:

– Institutionally, both organizations are motivated by religion
– Both organizations have members who slash people open and cut off limbs

Let’s get something straight here: ISIS is a FUCKING TERRORIST ORGANIZATION!!!  I don’t know how that point can be stressed any harder.  ISIS has a history of BURNING PEOPLE ALIVE.  ISIS MURDERS CHILDREN including SHOOTING A 2-YEAR OLD and BEHEADING A 4-YEAR OLD.  ISIS HAS COMMITTED GENOCIDE AND CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY.

The  NRA as an organization or its members individually have done none of those things.  The NRA does not condone the murder of innocents.  The NRA does not condone the murder of children.  The NRA has committed no acts of terrorism against the United States, its citizenry, or any of its allies.

Is this, somehow, not perfectly clear?  I think Antonin Scalia was right, Liberals live in a world where “words have no meaning.”

The NRA is an organization that lobbies and fights in court for the people to meaningfully practice the Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms.

Yes, the members of the NRA are passionate and motivated, but there are no, and have never been, any “Second Amendment Jihadis.”

Some radicalized Muslim, pledges allegiance to ISIS, decides that he doesn’t like the culture of the West, and goes and kills 49 and wounds some 50 more in a gay nightclub in Orlando.  A husband and wife pledge allegiance to ISIS, and kill 14 and wound 22 at a Christmas party in San Barnardino.

Several million Americans join the NRA, dismayed by what they feel is the infringement of their civil liberties, and they get together to host a peaceful meeting, where nobody was shot, nobody was burnt alive, nobody was thrown off a rooftop to their death, nobody was beheaded, and some $53 Million was pumped into the local economy.

If the NRA was an ISIS like organization, we’re doing a really terrible job of killing people.  John B. Alexander recognizes that at the end of his HuffPo skid mark and starts to backtrack.

To be fair, there are significant differences between ISIS and the NRA. ISIS overtly employs extreme violence to achieve their desired ends, while the NRA just takes advantage of other’s misdeeds. The NRA members do not directly kill the victims. The intentional brutality and physical intimidation displayed by ISIS far exceeds the tactics employed by the NRA. In the end, however, the body count tells the story.

IT’S THE NRA’S FUCKING BODY COUNT!!!

The NRA fights for gun right.  Gun rights that apply to every law abiding citizen and legal resident of the Unites States of America.

There are criminals, however that do abuse and break America’s gun laws to arm themselves, illegally, and the result is seven people killed in a weekend and 374 people killed to date  – not to mention the more than 2,000 shot but not killed – in the city of Chicago.  Or the many other shot in similar, high crime (and Liberal) areas of the country.

It is acknowledged that much of that violence is gang-related as are many of the mass-shooting incidents.

But those shootings are NOT the fault of the NRA, and the NRA should NOT apologize for them.  The millions of law abiding gun owners in America, who want to practice and retain their Second Amendment rights are not to blame for what a bunch of drug dealers and gang bangers do to each other.  Their blood is not on our hands.

John B. Alexander wants us to believe that the NRA indoctrinate[s] members who are ignorant of the basic facts.

Basic facts like what?  A barrel shroud is a shoulder thing that goes up.  That a ghost can can empty a 30 magazine clip in half-a-second.  That the best and most legal means to defend yourself from a home invasion in to fire two shots wildly into the air.  That magazines aren’t reloadable.  That you can’t lie on a 4473 to make a point in a news story.  That you shouldn’t violate federal gun laws to make a documentary.   Systematically, when you hear someone make an unbelievably stupid statement about guns or gun laws, they are not an NRA member, but an anti-gun politician or reporter.  This phenomenon of anti-gunners saying monumentally stupid shit to the intense mockery of gun owners, and undermining their cause, has been recognized by even the deep thinkers at Slate and Bill Maher.

John B. Alexander’s blathering bullshit continues:

Both ISIS and the NRA have members who are intensely loyal and are willing to act unquestioningly based on directions from the organizational leadership. In ISIS controlled geographic areas they constitute a small percentage of the population. Yet, using fear and intimidation they exert near total control over the territory. By comparison, the NRA has less than five million members (a number that ignobly grows with each horrific event). That, is only about two percent of the eligible voters in the U.S. today (a little over 200 million) yet they wield extraordinary influence both locally and nationally. Like ISIS’ intimidation, it is effective because, on demand, NRA members show up at all meetings concerning gun regulations and inundate Congress members with petitions. They threaten noncompliant members with removal from office, typically done at primary level when just a few voters can swing elections.

ISIS tries to get people to capitulate by threatening to murder them.

The NRA tries to get politicians to support certain bills or vote a certain way by raising money for opposition campaigns or for political ads.  First of all, there is a difference between these two acts.  Cutting off heads… paying for TV air time… one is a terrorist act and the other is not.

But more importantly, what the NRA does and how it “threatens” politicians IS EXACTLY HOW OUR SYSTEM OF REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT IS SUPPOSED TO FUCKING WORK!!!

Politicians are not entitled to their offices.  They hold them as long as the Constitutions allows or the people want them to.  Elected officials are supposed to represent the interests of their constituents, and if the constituents don’t feel properly represented they have the right to vote them out of office.

“Do what we want you to or we’ll find somebody else who will, come the next election” is the principle of how America works.  The NRA is not alone trying to get politicians voted out of office based on single issues.

Planned Parenthood has a Super PAC that used the same tactics to influence US Senate elections to fight for federal funding of PP and abortion rights.  Their members are very passionate about their issue (to the point of dressing up as female anatomy at protests).  PP also does a lot more baby killing and hacking off limbs than the NRA does.  So maybe PP/Code Pink is a better parallel for ISIS than the NRA.  No… they are a Liberal organization, so never mind you intellectually disingenuous shit-weasel.

According to the NRA adherents, citizens should have access to any guns they desire. That includes availability of weapons designed primarily for war such as assault rifles, (yes, I know that technically that term means fully automatic- but not to the public) and even 50 caliber sniper rifles that can penetrate the engine of a car. If you are hunting elephants and can afford the $38,000 trophy fee, you can afford obtaining a special license for that weapon. Also in contention are high capacity magazines, typically holding 30 rounds, although there is the Beta C double drum magazine which can contain 100 rounds. While banned in some areas, it is clear that such magazine capabilities far exceed any reasonable sporting or hunting requirements.

We’ve been over this, Dr. Shit-for-Brains, the Second Amendment is not about hunting.  The Supreme Court of the United States in DC vs. Heller made it clear that the right to keep and bear arms has everything to do with the natural right to self defense.

In District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008), the Supreme Court undertook its first-ever “in-depth examination” of the second amendment’s meaning Id. at 635. After a lengthy historical discussion, the Court ultimately concluded that the second amendment “guarantee[s] the individual right to possess and carry weapons in case of confrontation” (id. at 592); that “central to” this right is “the inherent right of self-defense”(id. at 628); that “the home” is “where the need for defense of self, family, and property is most acute” (id. at 628); and that, “above all other interests,” the second amendment elevates “the right of law-abiding, responsible citizens to use arms in defense of hearth and home” (id. at 635). Based on this understanding, the Court held that a District of Columbia law banning handgun possession in the home violated the second amendment. Id. at 635.

The Government has put some restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms (I for one, being an NRA extremist feel that the NFA is unconstitutional) but in the end, it is up to ME and not you, you asshole, to decide what is the best tool for me to defend myself and my family with.  And if that best tool is a 9mm with a 17 round magazine or an AR-15 with a 30 round magazine, that is my decision alone.

Hell, if I want to spend $5,000 for an impractically large rifle, for shooting things very far away, the ONLY person who should have the right to say shit about my decision is my wife, asking why we are sitting in the dark, with no cable or internet, eating nothing but ramen, because hubby had to buy a .50 cal.

Many low information gun owners appear influenced by movies such as Independence Day, Terminator, The Hunger Games, or other Hollywood fairytales, in which small bands of people overcome a technologically advanced enemy. The creators and adherents of such fanciful dramas are totally clueless about the real-world capabilities of the U.S. military. Espousing gun ownership, per the Second Amendment, as means to keep the potentially evil government in check is simply specious.

Fuck.  You.  Sideways.

This is the worst, most big government loving, out of touch, argument against gun control ever.  One would think that a defense strategist would know better, but no.  There are 1.3 Million active and reserve troops across the Army, Navy, USAF, and USMC.  There are 4.5 million NRA members.  There are 150 Million gun owners.  As numbers go, we win.  But let’s roll with John. B. Alexander’s expert analysis for a second and take into consideration the “real-world capabilities of the U.S. military.”  Because the “real-world capabilities of the U.S. military” include heavy artillery and air superiority.  This makes me wonder if in John. B. Alexander’s head, the US government is going to be using B1 bombers to blow up neighborhoods?  I doubt that there would be anything that would galvanize the American people against the American Goverment than the military dropping a JDAM on some ranch house in the burbs in order to get one guy, since that is the type of “real-world capability” that we employ around the world.  Maybe John B. Alexander is just another deep thinker with a boner for killing people that disagree with him politically, and NRA members in particular.

Despite, all of the zombie lies (ones that won’t die) no current government official or candidate has called for repealing the Second Amendment or confiscating all guns.

I guess when Senator Diane Feinstein said on 60 Minutes “Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in” she really didn’t mean it?  Because I think she did.

Or when Hillary Clinton said that she would consider Australian gun control (read mass confiscation) that was just a slip of the tongue?  Because I’m sure that was the only time she has been honest on the campaign trail so far.

Anti-gun politicians may be retarded on the issue of guns, but not on the politics of guns.  They know how to use fear tactics to get what they want too.  And they know that a massive, single law, gun ban would be a disaster.  They know, for them to get what they want is to kill the Second Amendment with a death by a thousand cuts.  Just look at the stack of gun control laws making their way through California.

For the NRA, it’s not about the one “big bill” to ban everything at once.  The NRA exists to fight the slow creep of infringements, little bill after little bill, that together will accomplish what the antis want.  We are not going to give them once inch, because we know they want the whole mile.

The NRA is nothing like ISIS.  I would expect someone who claims to be a terrorism expert to get that.  But no.  His far Left politics have rot his brain.

I remember being floored when Hillary Clinton says that she was proud that she made the NRA and Republicans her enemy.  ISIS is burning people, chopping off heads, raping non-Muslim women by the thousands and selling them into sex slavery, and pretty much engaged in the worst type of savagery and barbarism that the dark ages had to offer; and the Democrat candidate for president says that her worst enemies are law abiding gun owners and the 26% of Americans who are registered with the GOP.

Hillary Clinton shorter: “Forget the Islamic terrorists who are trying to kill us, the people I hate the most are American citizens who disagree with me politically.”

It seems like John B. Alexander comes from the same ideological camp.  “Never mind ISIS, the real terrorists are law abiding citizens who just want to keep their consistituanlly protected rights.”

What a fucking asshole this guy is!

My desire to own an AR or two (or eight) as a law abiding citizen, is in no way morally equivalent to murdering children or throwing gays off buildings.  I can’t believe I have to say that out loud.  It should be self evident, but for this dumbass, it’s not.

This idiot’s grasp of the gun issue is grounded in about as much reality as his grasp of UFO’s.  He has nothing but hatred for the NRA based on his political leanings.

His moral relativistic bullshit is a new low for HuffPo, but somehow I get they feeling that they will find a way to go even lower.

Surrender

Everytown and MDA have posted the same quote by an ISIS fighter on their respective Facebook pages.

isis 2 isis 1

ISIS scored victories against the United States and the West with the Pulse night club shooting.  Before ISIS congealed from the more nebulous body of Radical Islam, Islamism was the cause of the San Bernardino shooting, Ft. Hood shooting, and National Guard Recruiting Office Shooting, and others.

In each of these cases, the terrorist was able to legally buy a gun because they passed background checks.  We know that universal background checks won’t stop a law abiding radicalized citizen from buying a gun.  Everytown and MDA had caught on to this.  Now they are using ISIS’s words to scare us into gun restrictions.  Note how there is no call for background checks in their posts.

Using a quote by a terrorist to make us restrict our Civil Liberties seems like… helping the terrorist win.  Isn’t the purpose of terrorism to scare us into abandoning our freedoms and way of life?

Since Everytown and MDA are calling for a restriction of Constitutional liberties in the face of ISIS recruitment, may I make some other suggestions.

We know that ISIS uses social media as a recruiting tool.  There was no Facebook or Twitter when the Founding Fathers wrote the First Amendment, lets shut those down.

Speaking of the First Amendment, we know that some Muslim scholars don’t like to play well with the West.  Let’s put FBI agents in Mosques to monitor what the Imams say and do.

If the issue of domestic terrorism gets really bad, Korematsu v. United States made it clear that it wasn’t a violation of the Constitution to inter Americans during a time of war under strict scrutiny.

I mean, if we’re going to violate people’s rights to keep us safe from ISIS, we KNOW what the profile is of people that join ISIS: Muslim men, age 16-45.  That is a lot smaller a group to deal with than the 150 Million plus law abiding US gun owners.

Then again, I guess that won’t fly with the people over at Everytown and MDA.  What we saw after the Pulse shooting and then again at the DNC and BLM (which totally supports Palestinian Solitary but has no problem shutting down Gay Pride)  is that gays are no longer the most protected class in Liberal America.  We also know that Liberal Democrats have embraced antisemitism as a party platform.  American Muslims and Muslim refugees are far higher up on the Oppression Olympics board than white gay man and Jews.  Even as Liberals complain about rape culture on college campuses, they want to bring in tens of thousands of Muslim Refugees, who we know are causing the rape crisis in Europe.

Maybe what we need to do is outlaw homosexuality, get rid of the Jews, and force women to cover up.  That way our way of life won’t offend the delicate sensibilities of ISIS and they will stop attacking us.  Why not have Obama just do one final Lame Duck executive order and declare the US an Islamic Nation.  Sure, that may be a violation of the First Amendment’s prohibition of the establishment of a religion (to be fair to Obama the 1A says “Congress shall not” which leaves the door open for the President to do so – I think Justice Roberts would agree with me on that), but it would really take the wind out of ISIS’s sails.

If we have to break a few eggs to make a safe omelet, at least break the ones that count.

OR

Maybe we don’t let ISIS dictate American civil liberties.

Dumb and dumber

Mic.com is a news* media site that targets millenials and is intended to compete with Gawker and BuzzFeed.  Like Gawker and BuzzFeed it leans hard left, has a generous seasoning of Social Justice, and its articles are generally poorly thought out.

*I used the term “news” very generously in this sentence.  This is the same site that claimed that calling chocolate sprinkles “Chocolate Jimmies” is racist, despite no evidence of racist origins of the name Jimmies. because some people believe the urban legend that it has a racist origin.  So yeah… news.

I caught a repost of a Mic article over at Everytown’s Facebook Page, “If You Can’t Drink and Drive, You Probably Shouldn’t Drink and Carry a Gun, Either.”  The article tries to sound like it is preaching common sense, you shouldn’t drink and use a gun.  That is a very good and reasonable stance to take.  Don’t drink and drive, don’t drink and boat, don’t drink and shoot.

However the article goes on to talk about the number of states that allow concealed in places that serve alcohol, bars and restaurants that serve alcohol.

Miguel and I have touched on this before.  I don’t believe that if a person is going to drink, they should be carrying.  It is just irresponsible.  However, I am a big believer in the “designated driver exemption” in which I would like to see states that prohibit carrying in bars make an exemption for a person who is not drinking.  Make it enforceable with a breathalyzer.  I’ll accept that.  Blow anything other than a 0.0 and your CCW permit gets suspended.  Do it again and you lose it permanently.

I have felt this way for years, since some friends and I got hassled by some people in a bar in South Dakota during the Rally.  Some bikers didn’t like that some college kids were hanging out at the bar they decided they wanted to hang out in (we were locals, they were in for the Rally).  They picked a fight, we got the manager to toss them out.  They waited in the parking lot for us to leave and a fight broke out.  Because of SD law, I couldn’t carry in the bar even thought I was the DD.

The article doesn’t address the idea of people with CCWs not drinking.  I lived in Indiana, which has  a no guns in bars law.  There you can go into the TGI Friday’s with your gun to eat, but you can’t sit at the bar.  So there are all sorts of gray areas like this were CCW permit holders can be responsible and still be in a place where alcohol is served.

But the article, instead, goes into several horror stories of drunk people shooting others.  Although, none of the examples they used seems to be CCW holders.  I agree, don’t drink and use guns.  But if you are not drinking, why should you be obligated to give up your right to defend yourself.

I got to the end of the article and saw a link for another Mic article that seemed so dumb and anti-gun that it made the one I just read almost seem sensible: 9 Foods That Are Harder to Buy Than a Gun.

This was so poorly thought out, so beyond ridiculous, it seems like an Onion response to President Obama’s “easier to buy a gun than fresh vegetable” statement.  Except that this is supposed to be a real new site.

I couldn’t let some of these idiocies go:

cronut

First of all, would never wait in line for two and a half hours for a donut.  But I have waited that long for Cabela’s to process a Form 4473 during a Black Friday sale.  So this is total bullshit.

pappy

Because that’s a totally fair, not in any way apples to oranges, comparison… How about Pappy Van Winkle vs. a Remington Model 700 200th Anniversary edition which only 2016 will be made.   Now tell me which one is harder to get.

martini

A better guns vs. booze comparison, but not by much.  Yes, you have to be 21 to purchase booze from a place that has a liquor licence.  You also have to be 21 to buy a handgun from an FFL.  Also, no, a child can’t OWN a gun.  They can use one under the supervision of a parent.  But why let little details like that get in the way.

bass

The laws regarding the sale of Chilean Sea Bass (or Antarctic Toothfish) apply to commercial fishing boats.  Commercial fishing is highly regulated.  So are commercial gun sales.  Not “anyone” can sell guns online as a business.  You have to have an FFL to do that, which requires a lot of compliance with the ATF.

There are several other comparisons which are just as bad.  Not one has an honest explanation of the law.  They are lies and distortions meant to scare millennial hipsters.
