Legal expert says groups are right to cancel historical reenactments over NY gun laws

A historical reenactment has been canceled over New York State’s new gun laws. Governor Hochul’s Office is responding saying these events can go on as planned, but a legal expert says not so fast.

A notice from a Montgomery County group called Fort Klock Historic Restoration says its ‘Raid on the Harvest’ event in St. Johnsville, NY is being canceled for the weekend of October 1, 2022 because of “New York State legislator gun laws which makes anyone who does not adhere to their rules a felon.”

The new gun laws were signed by Governor Kathy Hochul quickly after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a New York State law that restricted concealed carry permits .The new state laws passed in response make it so that guns are not allowed in “sensitive locations” like public parks, in another effort by state leaders to limit where guns can be carried.

CBS 6’s Anne McCloy spoke to Albany Attorney Paul DerOhannesian who says that also applies to muskets that would be used in reenactments, even if real ammunition isn’t being used.

After the Bruen decision, the New York legislator and Governor Hochul decided that if the Supreme Court said New York had to issue gun permits, they were going to make the process as onerous and restrictive as possible, and make as much of New York a gun free zone as it could.

New York also considers antique muzzle loading black powder guns as firearms.

Consequently, a reenactment group with flintlocks in a state park is prohibited by this new law.

It does nothing to reduce crime but does stop children from learning about history and stops families from enjoying a fun and educational weekend.

Of course this makes sense in a state that closed public schools, masked children, hunted down kids in private parochial schools, and shut down education for over a year due to COVID and then let criminals out of prison and encouraged riots.

New York has no desire to educate people or stop crime.  Shutting down reenactments is the sort of petty bullshit that Leftist revel in throwing their weight around.

My only hope is that this law is recognized to be so restrictive because of Bruen that the Supreme Court revisits the issue and strikes down a whole shitload of gun restrictions.  Generally the Supreme Court isn’t a fan of when politicians try to skirt around their decisions in such a way as to effectively nullify the decision.

Every single God damn motherfucking son-of-a-bitch that has the motherfucking audacity to compare the DeSantis relocation of illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard to the relocation of Jews during the Holocaust and/or compared DeSantis to Hitler needs to have their fucking teeth kicked in.

I’m tired of the one sided political violence from the Left while the Left slander us by aligning us with the worst people in modern history.

There is no parallel between moving illegal immigrants to one of the wealthiest zip codes in the country and dragging families out of their homes in the middle of the night to march them into the woods to shoot them in the back and leave their bodies in unmarked mass graves.

Anyone who tries to make that parallel for political taking points should fear for the safety of their teeth from all good and decent people forever.

In the last 24 hours, the Right has been going all “YASSSS QUEEN” over Governor DeSantis sending a planeload of illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard.

For us on the Right, it makes perfect sense.

Republican border states are inundated with illegal immigrants who are causing crime, draining social services, and causing all sorts of problems that happen when you have hundreds of thousands and millions of people who do not have money, job skills, or even the ability to speak the common language, and cannot support themselves arrive in an area.

The Left loved to virtue signal about supporting migrants, how “no person is illegal,” and by declaring their cities sanctuary cities.”

They were excited to have the border open when the problem of the border being open was in Red border states where they didn’t live.

Then DeSantis started to ship illegals to Washington DC, New York City, and Chicago.  Then the mayors of those cities pushed back saying they didn’t have the resources to deal with these people.

Yesterday, DeSantis really dropped the big one by dropping illegal immigrants into the heart of wealthy, out-of-touch, Leftist stronghold territory in Martha’s Vineyard.

That seems like a great idea.

He forgot the most important factor in this equation.  One that a lot of people on the Right forget.

Leftists do not suffer from cognitive dissonance or guilt over hypocrisy.

Remember what cognitive dissonance is:

Bernie, Elizabeth Warren, AOC, and Obama are all for “making the rich pay their fair share” while being worth millions themselves.  They will exempt themselves at every turn.

Anti-gun politicians surround themselves with high walls and armed guards.

Politicians who called for defunding the police paid for increased police protection for themselves.

They literally came up with a new definition of “racism” to be “prejudice plus power” so they can say the most racist shit at white people and not claim to be racist.

This is how some minority Ivy League-educated, tenured professor, with a six-figure salary, a six-figure book deal, and a paid position as a contributor on MSNBC can pretend to be the victim of oppression while shitting on poor white people from middle America and claim they are “punching up” against powerful white supremacy.

Then they decided that Jews, the most oppressed minority in history, are powerful so it’s not racism to attack them while defending 1.3 billion Muslims in 57 nations with Islam as the state religion as poor oppressed minorities.

The Democrats hold the Presidency and both houses of Congress, the majority of the media, and all of social media and the entertainment industry, and believe that they are the scrappy underdogs.

The Left has artfully crafted a worldview that allows them to live in a world of contradicting facts and not for one moment feel like hypocrites or have the discomfort of cognitive dissonance

This stunt will not make them feel bad about themselves in any way.  It will only secure their knowledge that Republicans are doing this to be cruel to the illegals, cruel to the few working-class year-round residents of Martha’s Vineyard, and most of all, cruel to the poor Leftists who have empty summer homes on the island.

One of the ways the Democrats controlled the South was through the collusion of racism and corruption.

It wasn’t uncommon for a town’s elected officials to also be leaders in the local chapter of the Klan.

The mayor was a Kleagle, the Sheriff or Police Chief was a Wizard, tlr local judge was another ranking Klan member, other Klan members were on the town or county board, etc.

The victims of racism had no recourse.  The system protected the offenders and maintained control over the town.

The modern Democrat party is doing the same thing, just the Woke version of it.

The City University of New York (CUNY) system has been a hotbed of Leftist antisemitism justifed as Anti-Zionism.

CUNY is being sued for being “pervasively hostile environment for Jewish students.”  Jewish students are being harassed and even attacked violently.

Petty but offensive (and criminal) examples include professors hosting mandatory classes or administrative meetings on Friday evenings and Saturdays and not giving Jewish students or faculty the ability to reschedule, so observant Jews could not attend.

So what did CUNY do?

The person they hired to investigate antisemitism on campus was a director at an organization responsible for creating antisemitism on campus and from one of the most pervasively antisemitic cities in the country.

I can guarantee that a former CAIR director will not be able to identify antisemitism when Jews are attacked for being Zionists.

But this isn’t all.

A senior official in the Pentagon’s education wing who has written books on anti-racism has a history of mocking white people on Twitter, recently-resurfaced posts revealed on Tuesday.

Kelisa Wing is the chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer in the Department of Defense’s Education Activity office, which oversees schooling for children of Pentagon employees including active duty service members.

But before she landed the role, Wing made a few controversial social media posts including one that disparaged a woman for stating that black people ‘can be racist too.’

She’s also listed as an author on several progressive children’s books in a series called ‘Racial Justice In America.’

One book is called ‘What Is White Privilege,’ while another is ‘What Does it Mean To Defund the Police?’

The former has lines such as: ‘If you are White you might feel bad about hurting others or you might feel afraid to lose this privilege.’

It also asks white children to consider if they will ‘really feel good at the end of the race when you look back and see others fighting obstacles that you didn’t even have?’

So we have an anti-white, Woke bigot as a DOD director of education.

You know that the DE&I educational materials that all of our service members will be forced to learn and parrot is going to be filled with Woke racism.

By putting the bigots in charge the Democrats know their bigotry will be protected and promoted.  This ensures their hegemonic domination.

It’s an old but effective tactic they are fully implementing.

Marion County deputies arrest man for murdering toddler

Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office charged a man with the death of a toddler whose spine was completely severed.

Travis Ray Thompson, 25, was arrested Thursday on first-degree murder charges while Engaged in aggravated child abuse.

Deputies say their investigation showed Thompson physically abused the toddler while she was in his care, resulting in the complete severing of her spine.

The medical examiner determined the child’s death was caused by traumatic injuries to her torso with a severing of her spine and internal bleeding behind her organs. Investigators say that based on the severity of her injuries, it was determined Thompson applied significant, gradual force to the toddler’s upper and lower body from the front with a fulcrum point on her lower back.

This man shouldn’t be sent to prison.

He should be let loose to be taken care of by some angry fathers while the local police look the other way.

This is a man who deserves to be tortured to death.  Given adrenaline and have his heart shocked back to life.  Given medical treatment.  Be allowed to heal.  Then tortured to death again, and the process repeated until he cannot be revived.

I have no love for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) or Marvel comics.

I didn’t grow up reading comics and I’m not a fan of the super hero genre.

What I do know is that Marvel wouldn’t exist as it does without the volume of work of two Jews, Jack Kirby and Stan Lee.

But Marvel and Disney are Woke, and Wokies hate the Jews, so what is going to happen next will be an exercise in antisemitism.

Marvel is now in Phase 4 of the MCU.  So it has expanded well beyond the core heroes and into lesser known heroes and plot lines.

Everybody gets a hero.

Black Panther is its own franchise.

We had a woman take over Thor.

A black guy take over Captain America.

Elementals checked every diversity box.

In the comic, the new Iron Man is a 15-year-old black girl, and she’s supposed to be getting a show.

Ms. Marvel is a Muslim teenage girl.

When She Hulk twerks and gives Hulk a dressing down, we’re supposed to clap and say “you go girl boss!”

And throughout, we were told that if we didn’t absolutely love all of these characters we were racist, sexist, xenophobic, Islamophobic bigots.

Now the MCU has decided to add a Jewish super hero.

Her name is Sabra in Captain America 4.

And already it’s a “controversy.”

Marvel’s new Israeli forces superhero Sabra is beyond problematic

Let us not forget that the central plot of Black Panther was a black villan named Killmonger wanted to use Wakandan Vibranium weapons to kill all the white people and the only reason Black Panther stopped him was to keep Wakanda isolated.  Nobody said whipping out the world’s population of white people was wrong.

That wasn’t controversial.

Black Panther was the greatest movie ever™.

Anyone who hated it was racist.

It was so sacred white people were not allowed to see it during opening weekend less the steal black people’s joy.

The Congressional Black Caucus gave each other the Wakanda Salute.

But a Zionist Jewish super hero is problematic and controversial.

But don’t worry, see Marvel hates her and uses her to drive their Jew hating Woke agenda.

Here is her in a comic which I can almost guarantee will end up on screen.

See, the Jewish super hero didn’t see Palestinians as people.

The Hulk had to give her a lesson in humanity after getting the entire origin of the conflict and what is written in Jewish holy scriptures wrong.

In Woke Marvel Jews murder Palestinian children over land they want to steal.

I’m not sure if this was written by Hamas or Mark Ruffalo.

So I fully trust that the MCU will absolutely disrespect Sabra in screen and make her into some sort of bad guy.

Speaking of Ruffalo, he is a known Palestinian supporter and Anti-Zionist.  So Marvel fans have been asking him to tell the MCU to drop Sabra all together.

The same Ruffalo that went on Twitter and called everyone misogynists for criticizing She-Hulk.

So he probably will.

Everyone gets a super hero that empowers their culture, except the Jews.

We get a super hero that needs a Woke lecture and even then her very existence is controversial.

Personally I’d rather not see a Jewish super hero than see what Marvel will do to her.

Readers of this blog know that secure gun storage is a big deal for me.

Secure gun storage is three part system:

One: The strength of the storage container itself.

Two: How well the storage container is secured to the premises.

Three: How secure is the premises and the location within the premises where the storage container is placed.

There are a lot of garbage gun storage boxes put there made of flimsy material that can be opened in seconds with a claw hammer.  Those may provide some resistance to a child who comes across your gun box, but isn’t a deterrent to theft.

At a minimum, if you buy a gun safe, it should be tested to the standards of a UL RSC (residential security container).  I have recommended other containers, such as a Job Box, for gun storage.  I know what the UL RSC standard is, and a quality job site box will meet that standard.  It’s far better than the garbage import safe from Harbor Freight.

If you buy a good storage container but don’t secure it, that’s also not a deterrent to theft.  I recently wrote about anchoring a Cannon safe i purchased to an OSB floor.  I moved the safe myself with a dolly I bought at Costco.  So if it was not anchored down, a thief could carry the safe away with him using a similar dolly and open the safe at their leisure off site.

Lastly is the rest of the house.  No safe is impenetrable.  It’s a function of how much time and effort a thief wants to put into breaking into your safe.  If the thief has time on their side, they might do it.

I’ve heard horror stories of thieves spending days cutting into good safes in garages while the homeowner is away on vacation.

Put your safe in a part of the house where your security system covers it.

If a garage is all you have, get a wireless motion detection security system and put it in the garage and aim it at your safe.

Create layers of security to protect your guns.

Now, let’s turn to anti-gun Congresswoman Karen Bass and see what she did wrong.

Two firearms were stolen during a burglary at the home of Rep. Karen Bass on Friday evening, the Los Angeles mayoral candidate said in a statement released Saturday.

Bass said she came home Friday to find signs of a break-in and called police. The thief stole firearms that had been “safely and securely stored” but left behind cash, electronics and other valuables, she said.

Bass communications director Sarah Leonard Sheahan confirmed to The Times that the guns belonged to the congresswoman and said they were secured in a Brinks lock box.

There we have it.

A Brinks lock box is not a gun safe.  It’s a thin metal box designed to keep employees from surreptitiously stealing cash from the boss’s office.  It can be pried open with a screw driver.

It also can’t be secured to the premises like a cable lock gun box.

That wasn’t secured in any reasonable way, that was nicely packaged for a thief.

I’m also tempted to call bullshit on the whole story since the thief took only the guns cash and jewelry.

I think the thief knew about the guns and this wasn’t some random break-in.

But whatever the case, my point remains unchanged.

When anti-gun people talk about secure storage, they have no idea what they are talking about.
