Something heartwarming on the 20th Anniversary of 9/11

I did not know this bit of 9/11 history:

The day The Queen sang the American national anthem in solidarity with the victims of 9/11

When the UK national anthem is played, The Queen stands as the public sings to her. She doesn’t sing a national anthem; she is The Queen. However, one occasion had such an impact, that Her Majesty broke with her tradition and sang the American national anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner.”

The occasion was the memorial service held at St Paul’s Cathedral for the victims of the 9/11 attacks in New York City, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania. As she does not sing anthems, when “The Star Spangled Banner” was played in the cathedral, she joined in and was later seen wiping a tear from her eye.

That is an amazing show of solidarity between two nations over a tragedy that changed the course of world history.

Good movie on HBO MAX

The wife and I sat down last night and watched American Pickle on HBO MAX.

I know in real life Seth Rogan is a Lefty POS, but the movie was very good.

It had a Fiddler on the Roof feel to it.  It’s not exactly a comedy, it’s a very Jewish melodrama.

I highly recommend it, especially for my Jewish readers.

My condolences to Rashida Tlaib

According to Google Translate:

Assaulting the police with the knife – and shot: Documenting the attempted attack in Jerusalem

Remember, knives are very dangerous and even non-athletic individuals can close the distance with a knife pretty fast.

It’s good to see that only the terrorist was taken out.

My condolences to Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib for the loss of her loved one and constitute.

Remember, the Constitution is just a piece of asswipe parchment

So… passing a law that bans the killing of an unborn child who has developed a heartbeat is unconstitutional but the President ordering that  businesses mandate COVID  vaccinations and threaten state governors is Constitutionally sound.

“Constitutional” is whatever the people in power want it to mean when they want it to mean it.

The Constitution is just a 232 year old bit of skin the Left wipes their ass with one day, then rubs in our face the next.

The same reason football, comic book, and MCU fans are insufferable a**holes

It’s simple, some people confuse a personality with a Fandom.  Being a fan of a medium becomes their identity.  Criticizing whatever they are a fan of is literally attacking who they are as a person.

This all applies to operator fanbois, meatheads, and anyone else who substitutes a personality for consuming stuff.

Unfortunately, our mass-market consumerist culture encourages this personality/Fandom replacement.

To borrow from the great Chuck Palahniuk, you are not your fucking Fandom.

Develop an identity independent of stuff that you consume.

Good jury decision

Georgia Grand Jury Declines to Indict 15-Year-Old Who ‘Had Enough of His Father Abusing His Mother’ and Opened Fire with a Rifle

A 15-year-old from Columbia County in Georgia will not be indicted with murder for shooting his abusive father in the head and killing him, a grand jury decided on Wednesday. Tucker Gales did not dispute that he shot 66-year-old Wesley Jordan Gales in the head with a .22-caliber rifle back in October 2020. The younger Gales said that the reason he did it was that “he had enough of his father abusing his mother.”

Wesley Gales’ history of domestic violence and abuse, against both his son and ex-wife, was well-documented. For instance, there was a reported incident where Wesley Gales allegedly threatened to shoot his son in the head and “kicked his ex-wife in the groin area,” as The Augusta Chronicle put it. As recently as May 2020 and just months before he was shot, Wesley Gales pleaded guilty to domestic abuse and child cruelty charges.

“The police visited the home multiple times since 2011. No action was taken to remove this family from the danger in the home. He pleaded for help on multiple occasions and the system failed him,” said Emily Martinez, the organizer of the GoFundMe campaign. “It’s a sad day because this child had to take matters into his own to hands to defend and protect him and his mom.”

Sad that it had to happen this way but I’m not going to shed any tears over a serial abuser getting put down that way.

Glad the jury saw it that way too.

I hope the boy can heal from the emotional damage and live a happy rest of his life.

This was a feature not a bug – Update

As per a comment, I may have fallen for a hoax and linked to a story from a parody news site that I thought was real.

I don’t like to spread disinformation, further vetting is required.
