Spoke too soon

I thought that a bunch of New Yorkers marveling at a deer that took up residence in a public park like it was an endangered condor and then mourning its death at the hands of a bunch of feckless bureaucrats was peak New York.

Boy-howdy, was I wrong.  That didn’t even come close to peak New York.

Forget safe spaces in colleges filled with  puppies and Play-Doh to deal with the election of Donald Trump.    An “artist” in New York safe spaced an entire Subway Station because the Donald.  He set up a folding table and chair with Post-Its and pens for people to write their feelings down and put them up on the subway wall.  He even put up a fake certificate for an “Honorary PhB” which stands for “professional human being,” which is a pile of narcissistic bullshit.

If you think that looks about as serious a this:

You are right.

Of course, the “Subway Therapy” wall rapidly turned into a wall of anti-Trump and Liberal platitude litter.

Not being from New York, when I hear “subway” and “therapist” in the same sentence, I assume an editor left out a space between two words.*

If you think that this is the end of the story, it gets so much worse.

New York Governor Cuomo and the New York Historical Society are going to save all the Post-Its put up until Trump’s inauguration and preserve them.

Keep in mind that the New York Historical Society is in part publicly funded.

So let me sum up:

A bunch of butthurt New York special snowflakes cover a subway wall with garbage on which they wrote their feelings about the President Elect, and the Governor is going to use tax payer money to memorialize it.

These people are fucking insane.

Peak New York

You know what, I agree with the Left.  The Electoral College is a totally unfair system.  The problem is not that America is held hostage by the flyover states, nope.

Middle America has been shackled to a bunch of out-of-touch morons from the Big Apple for too long.  These people live in a bubble that is so thick and so off in fucking la-la-land that nothing that goes on in their heads makes any sense to the rest of America.  I am convinced that Men In Black is real and that the majority of NYC is now aliens.

Here is my proof:

A deer managed to make its home in Jackie Robinson Park in Harlem.  The deer had been living there for a few weeks and then started to wander out onto the street and the city decided it was a nuisance that had to go.  The deer became embroiled in a political squabble between the Governor of New York and the Mayor of New York City.  No bullshit.  The mayor wanted the deer captured and euthanized and the governor wanted it relocated up state.  While the infighting occurred, the deer died.  The city is now paying to have the deer cremated.

That is the New York City perspective  on this story.

Here is the flyover state perspective on this story.

New Yorkers are fucking crazy.  Deer aren’t just nuisance animals, they are giant raccoons on hooves.  They eat out of garbage cans, your garden, and if you own farmland, your cash crop.  Worse, there are far too many of them and they wander out onto the highway where they get hit by cars and cause hundreds of deaths and cost billions of dollars per year in vehicle accidents.

The only good thing about deer is how they taste.  Once you get out of the city, they are everywhere.  I lived in the Southwest Suburbs of Chicago and we had deer in our back yard.  For most of the country, deer barely qualify as wildlife.  Anything that makes you get out of bed at 2:00 am because the dogs are barking at it in the yard ins’t the majesty of nature.  Deer, possum, whatever…

Not in New York. The deer was “beloved.”  These people are so urbanized that a deer wanders into a city park and they think it’s a safari.  Seriously.  Look at these assholes taking pictures of this deer like it’s the last white rhino.

This dipshit was interviewed by the local news because he was trying to feed it apples.

Speaking of the news, the story of a deer in Harlem was covered by CNN, Yahoo News,  The Washington Post, USA Today, New York Daily News, Business Insider, The Village Voice, a listicle from Heavy, and just about every local NYC news station.

Let me be clear about this, for the Americans who live in the great, uncultured wasteland between NYC and San Francisco the only way to cremate a deer is over a pile of Kingsford briquettes, the only thing a newspaper has to do with a deer is using the newspaper so light the briquettes, and the only controversy involving deer is dry rub or marinade.

The Indiana, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Alabama in me is screaming “They wasted tax payer money to capture and kill a deer?  I have a buddy that would have been happy to make that deer disappear with a compound bow.  Hell, he could have even donated the meat to a homeless shelter.”

It’s not a beloved bit of wildlife that died a martyr like Harambe (that is a serious OpEd, I’m not kidding), it’s 25 lbs of unprocessed sausage and a dog chew on four legs.

This story is an epic monument to just how out of touch New Yorkers are.

Guns and Electors

Leading up to the 2016 election, there were a myriad of videos published online of celebrities encouraging the unwashed masses to vote for Hillary Clinton.  They ran the gamut from sappy, like IMPORTANT, to the grotesque like SENSUAL PANTSUIT ANTHEM.  Hillary’s use of celebrity videos to try and sway voters was so ridiculous that it became a point of mockery (see the video below).  Even Tina Fey commented (sarcastically) on the issue, saying “but I have to say, I think the real reason that Hillary lost—and it’s the thing that people are afraid to talk about: not enough celebrity music videos urging people to vote.”  Americans had just gotten sick and tired of wealthy elites telling them how to vote.

Michael Moore released a video called Michael Moore In TrumpLand: The Last President of the United Stateswhich was supposed to be an anti-Trump video.  An internet genius then re-cut it into one of the best pro-Trump, anti elite celeb videos ever, which really did predict and explain the election of Donald Trump.

The 2016 election ended with the election and Donald Trump, and everybody thought that we would have a respite from elitist celebrity election videos.  Then the left got it into their heads that they could turn the Electoral College from something that cost them the election into something that could cut short a Trump presidency before it began, and so we were treated to a new elitist, celebrity, anti-Trump video encouraging faithless electors to go against the will of the voters they represent.

Tucker Carlson interviewed actor Mike Farrell (the guy from MASH) about this new video and the push and about 5 minutes into the interview, Carlson made a fantastic point.  Why was it that that these celebs thought that the chosen electors were some how wiser, or more superior than the 60 million people who voted for Trump, and choose the candidate of their desire and not that of the will of the people.   I recommend watching the whole interview, but I started it at the point where Tucker really got into the elitist message of the plea for faithless electors.

The answer is quite simple.  The Democrats/Left have become raging elitists.  They no longer believe in the words of the Declaration of Independence:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

Or even the words of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address describing America as a “government of the people, by the people.”

A comparison of the maps of a county-by-county breakdown of the 2016 election and America’s most populous counties overlap, has been discussed before.  Hillary was voted for by people that live in densely populated urban areas and Trump was voted for by more rural areas.

The 2016 election was not just urban vs. rural.  It was a class of wealthy elites vs. working class middle America.  Now that the elites have lost the election, they released another elite, celebrity filled video demanding that another group of elites (the electors) decide the election for the candidate of the elites, against the will of working America.

Immediately after the election, the Left celebrated that gun sales fell with an impending Trump presidency.  Trump wasn’t going to ban assault style rifles and so panicky, paranoid Americans weren’t rushing out to buy them.  I guess every apocalyptic cloud has a silver lining.

Then Black Friday sales broke every record.

A little industry information: it is true that AR style rifle sales are expected to drop without the fear that Trump will ban them.  However, overall gun sales are expected to go up, just in different markets.  The gun market was saturated with AR clones.  Now there is a lot of room for more traditional hunting rifles and shotguns.  Lever actions are making a comeback.  Handguns are still booming, especially in hunting and concealed carry.  Especially, especially in concealed carry with more and more states loosening CCW requirements and the potential for a national CCW reciprocity law being passed.  If the Hearing Protection Act gets passes, be ready to see an explosion in suppressor sales, and guns designed to be suppressed.  The Trump election is also opening up new customer bases with more minorities buying guns.

Gun companies are going to do just fine under Trump.

Back to the election:

Michael Moore went on Chris Hayes show to say how the Left has to stop the Trump inauguration at all costs, including violence.  This aligns with the DisruptJ20 protest/day of violence, that is being staged as well.

What we are seeing is a bunch of Liberal and Social Justice elites doing their damnedest to overturn the will of knuckle-dragging, cousin-humping, dirt-under-the-fingernails, redneck, unwashed masses, aka, working class middle America.  They will use protests and even violence to get their way.

 

If celebrity videos and harassment sway the electoral college, or if rioters shut down the inauguration; I don’t think the Left knows what it is in for.  Forget Obama’s status as gun salesman of the year.  Let Mr. Bowling-for-Columbine keep demanding that butthurt Leftists try and shut down a Trump presidency.

I don’t think they realize it, but this is a declaration of war.  Maybe they do realize it, and they think they will win.

They are wrong.

 

 

SSDD Progressive Style

A Washington D.C. public school spokeswoman made a tweet about abolishing white men (image taken from Facebook).

Another day, another progressive calling for the symbolic or actual genocide of white males.

Rather than roundly condemn this the way so many others have done, I want to ask some questions to white progressives like this:

If you had a son, would you love him?

If you had a son, would you want him to be successful?

If you had a son, how would you explain to him why you hate his gender?

See, this is the reason I have such a hard time with this type of SJW progressivism.  I have a son, he is almost three.  I want him to be successful.  I want him to be happy.  I want the best for him.  So what am I supposed to do when the left-of-center pop culture tells says that he is responsible for all the terrible things on earth because of his gender and the color of his skin, and that the world would be a better place if he just sat in the back of the bus for a while.

I don’t get how progressives can be parents and hold these ideas and say they love their children.  If you hate straight white males, how do you love your sons?

 

Two Minute Hate

My wife brought this video to my attention.

Keith Olberman (who was fired by MSNBC and ESPN twice, for coming unhinged) went on this rant on his GQ Youtube channel, explaining in great detail how to use the Constitution to get rid of the Trump Administration.

His thesis is: abuse the language of the 25th Amendment and the Presidential Succession Act to declare Trump unable to “discharge the powers and duties of the office” and have him replaced by the Vice President.  What qualifies as being unable to “discharge the powers and duties of the office”is not a medical crisis, such as a stroke or assassination attempt, but because of Trump’s temperament based on what he said in his Twitter account.

Lets ignore for a moment that Trump selected his cabinet and they are unlikely to do this.

The very idea of what Olberman is suggesting would be the zenith of legal fuckery.  The 25 Amendment provides as way for America to be protected in case of a health crisis of the Head of State.  It is not a step by step guide to having a bloodless coup of the US Presidency.  That idea is an an absolute perversion of law.

But lets ignore that for a moment too.

The big question that I have to Olberman, and one my wife was unable to answer too, what happens if on January 21, 2017 a physically and mentally fit Donald Trump were to be forced out of office by a handful of DC insiders?  What happens when the 25th Amendment is used to effectively overturn an election?  Are 60 million American voters supposed to just accept that a dozen people unseated a president?

I wasn’t a fan of Trump’s rhetoric, but until he actually signs Executive Order 9066 Rev 2 and has the government start building internment camps for the Mexicans or gays or Muslims or whomever the Left is paranoid he we start rounding up, he’d done nothing.

In Olberman’s fantasy, he can get away with this.  When the voters of Middle America who elected Trump as a “fuck you” to the establishment have their President force out of office by a handful of the establishment with some legalese, the word I would use to describe what they do is probably less riot and more revolution.

But in the mind of Olberman, piss on Middle America’s desires, the Liberal elite knows better.

The next article was one that I found: New York should seize Trump Tower.  According to the WaPo, since New Yorkers don’t like Trump, they should be able to steal his stuff using eminent domain.

With this the WaPo showed its true colors.  I am reminded of when the Communist leaders seized the homes of estates of wealthy Russians, nobles, and anybody else that was declared an enemy of the proletariat during the Russian Revolution.  Seizure of the property of people out of favor with the party was a tactic repeated in Maoist China, North Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, and Venezuela.  Maybe NYC should seize all of Trumps gold and art and hide it in banks in Switzerland too.  If that doesn’t send enough of a message about how much they don’t like Trump, they could try making a lamp out of one of his kids.

Once we adopt the principle that we can seize the property of people we disagree with politically, where does it end.  Brendan Eich was forced to step down as CEO of Mozilla after it was discovered he donated money to Prop 8 against gay marriage in California.  Political donations by high profile people have a way of becoming public.  Will liberals turn their sights to Trump donors?  Donate money to Trump and de Blasio will take your Condo in Manhattan and use it as a homeless shelter ?  That will teach you a lesson to not give money to the person with the R behind their name.

These radical Leftist have no idea with the size of the fire they are playing with.  They want it their way and are willing to shred the Constitution to get it.  They think since what they plan is legal on paper, they can do it.  They don’t see the bigger consequences of their actions down the road.

 

Stranger in a strange land

I want to write a follow up to Miguel’s last post.

I have talked about my past, where I grew up, where I lived.  I mention it again in this post, in detail, because in today’s political climate, it is relevant.

I grew up in an upper middle class neighborhood in Miami, Florida, in the shadow of the University of Miami, where my dad went to law school.  My mom’s side of the family is from the Philadelphia/Camden County New Jersey area.  I spend my summers and Christmas breaks in high school in and around Philly.  My only college co-op was in Philly at one of the many petrochemical refineries in that city.  I moved to Terre Haute, Indiana for college, and lived there for five years.  My wife is from Terre Haute, my in-laws still live there and we go back a few times a year.  After college I moved to Rapid City, South Dakota for grad school and completed my Ph.D.  My first job out of school was just outside of Chicago in the Southwestern Suburbs.  From there I picked up and moved to Omaha, Nebraska for a short while.  I then had a career change and hauled off to Huntsville, Alabama.

I have claimed residency in South Florida, the Northeast Megalopolis, the Midwest, the Great Plains, and the Deep South.

Going to a private college prep high school, there were people who didn’t understand why I wanted to go to rural Indiana for college.  They were almost disappointing in me for not sticking to the East Coast or going all the way to California.  I remember coming back to Miami or visiting family in New Jersey from South Dakota and people not knowing the state I lived in.  I heard something to the effect of “North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana… one of those big flat states out west” from more than a few people.  I had people ask if we had running water and if people in South Dakota really lived in Tipis.  I’m not kidding.

Going to the Deep South was even worse.  I had to justify why I would move to Alabama.  “Why would you go to Alabama, can’t you find an engineering job somewhere else?”  Then I have to explain that Huntsville is known as Rocket City, USA, there are more rocket scientists in Huntsville than anywhere else in the world, and everything the US government uses to launch objects into space, for war and peace, comes out of Huntsville.

None of that matters to the die hard anti-Southern bigot.  I was in Pittsburgh airport, flying back to Huntsville, going home from a business trip.  I’m in line talking to the person next to me, just chatting.  She asked where I was going.

“Alabama.”

“Heading out or going home.”

“Heading back home.”

The guy in front of me looks at me, and says in a heavy NYC accent “You’re from Alabama, you don’t look like your parents are cousins” and laughs.

One of the things that the Jews learned from the Holocaust is that we weren’t European.  It didn’t matter how much we assimilated.  If we adopted German or Polish or French last names and spoke German or Polish or French in our homes.  We were Jews and were never really their countrymen.

The hysterical fallout of the 2016 election of Donald Trump has made it crystal clear to me that we may speak the same language, wave the same flag, use the same passport, but to the Blue strongholds of the  Northeast and Pacific Coast Megalopolises, we aren’t their countrymen.

The Hill argues that the enlightened Liberal areas of the country are “held hostage by flyover states.”

The Daily Kos is celebrating the suffering of poor people in Appalachia.

The rest of the Liberal coasts have been doing nothing but calling the land in between racist, homophobic, misogynistic, and every other hateful thing they can.

 

I don’t much care for New York City, it’s too crowded, too expensive, and smells like piss.  But I’ve never hated people from NYC.

The open, naked hatred the Coastal Metropolises direct at the land between is shocking.   It has been made quite clear that they think nothing but the worst of us and don’t want to even try to try to understand life outside of their bubble.

Miguel said “I have this nagging feeling that if they could tent & treat flyover country like a house full of termites, they would not think about it twice.”

I’d have to agree.  From what I’ve seen in the last few weeks, I think the only reason Hillary supporters haven’t started to build a Dachau in Nebraska to start their final solution to the Trump supporter question is that they don’t know where to get any vegan kale and quinoa salads in Omaha to feed their workforce.

Big Brother Uncle Sam

There are two articles, one on guns and one on Obamacare, that together struck me as representative of a terrible zeitgeist.

The first is I Shouldn’t Have Been Able to Buy A Gun (And I Shouldn’t Have Needed To).  In it, a young woman buys a gun because she is scared of her abusive boyfriend.  She mentions that 18 months before buying a gun, she was depressed and suicidal.  She was, however, not adjudicated mentally ill.  Her treatment seems voluntary.

She is upset that the police did not go out of their way to protect her from her abusive boyfriend and that she needed a gun for protection.  She, like many people, seems to not know about Castle Rock v. Gonzalez in which the US Supreme Court declared that police have no duty to protect anybody against a specific threat.

She ends her article with this:

What I got, instead, was dropped off at my house by the detectives without them even searching the house first to make sure my boyfriend wasn’t inside. What I got, instead, was turned away. What I got, instead, was a gun.

And if a woman with a history of attempting to kill someone, even if it’s herself, and a woman who has been in a psychiatric hospital, and a woman who, it was clear to a stranger, was “in trouble,” can get a gun, then who can’t?

The second article is I Was One Of Those Women Who Couldn’t Afford Birth Control — & I Got Pregnant.  In it, the young woman is a college student and part time worker and she has unprotected sex, gets pregnant, and has an abortion.  She blames her public school education for not teaching her enough about birth control in sex ed.  She blames her friends for giving her bad advice.  Ultimately, she blames the Federal Government for not subsidizing her birth control and insinuates that the lack of government funded birth control is racist.

The only people she doesn’t blame for her pregnancy are her and her boyfriend.

She ends her article with:

This won’t be the last time you hear from me and the advocates who work tirelessly to make sure access to reproductive health care, including abortion, is protected and expanded. Having the ability to decide if, when, and how to become a parent is crucial to our ability to fully participate in society. We hope you’ll soon realize that.

Together we can truly make America, and abortion access, great again.

What do these two articles have in common?  Both of these women, very much believing that they speak on behalf of millennials, are angry that the US Federal Government didn’t act like a doting parent.

The Second Amendment doesn’t exist to protect you from yourself when it comes to guns.

The Treasury doesn’t exist to protect you from making irresponsible decisions.

These young women wanted the government to step in an stop them from their own actions and take away any culpability they have for their own mistakes.

These young women feel the yoke of government on them is a security blanket.

There is no way this type of mentality ends well.  We will all lose our rights to the handful of people that need the government to nanny them.
