Florida Senate to take School Safety Bill (Armed Teachers) ?

TALLAHASSEE
Florida Senate President Joe Negron said Thursday that he supports arming school teachers, endorsing a controversial proposal that has been severely criticized by educators, law enforcement and even U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, the former speaker of the Florida House…

…Negron asserts that there will be training for the teachers. It’s likely to be based on a program created by Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, who allows teachers who want to be armed to go through specialized training.
They would then be able to carry a concealed gun on K-12 campuses, and only top administrators would know who they are.
“The concept of having teachers who are trained and have appropriate credentials being able to be armed to protect students, I would support that,” said Negron.

Florida Senate president’s support for arming teachers sets up showdown on gun bills | Miami Herald

I am going to assume that the quotes were all obtained before it was known that The School Resource Officer, Deputy Scot Peterson did not go after the shooter inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. They should be introduced to the concept of No Duty to Protect and Castle Rock v. Gonzales.

“The notion that my kids are going to school with teachers that are armed with a weapon is not something that, quite frankly, I’m comfortable with,” Rubio said Wednesday during a prime-time nationally televised CNN town hall meeting.

By the way Senator, go check if Jeb Bush had a job for you in his staff. Do not bother with re-election.

“Not on my watch will we ever support the idea of arming teachers with guns in our classrooms,” said Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho on Twitter. “They are armed with inspiration, they instruct, they lead, and they have a right to do it safely without being the ones tasked with guaranteeing it for everyone else.”

Basically Carvalho is saying his teachers are too stupid to properly manipulate a firearm. I do hope all teachers in Miami-Dade take public transportation because driving is much more complicated than shooting.

Teachers and gun control advocates see a needless risk, from a gun falling into the hands of a student to an educator getting shot by police who mistake a teacher with a gun for a bad guy.
“Just think of how many things that could go wrong with that,” said Kristin Brown, co-president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

Worse than 15 kids shot to death by a deranged classmate who was not stopped by either Federal or Local LEOs? That kind of worse?

The Senate bill is 1236 and you can go check it out under “Bill Text.” We expect a flood of bad gun bills to be introduced it in the Senate and the House tomorrow. I’ll try and keep up.

And interesting question and I think we know the answer

Pkonig asked:
I wonder: can that guy be charged, even after “retiring” in a hurry, with dereliction of duty?

(Standard IANAL warning) Criminally? I don’t think so. Castle Rock v. Gonzales.

No Duty to Protect.

And if the Broward Sheriff’s Office is sued, it won’t go far because of the same reason.

But they are gonna have more black eyes that a family of raccoons.

I wonder if anybody has explained this to the Sinead Gonzalez.

Broward County Sheriff’s Office keep adding to the crap pile.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A Florida sheriff says the deputy who was on duty at a high school where 17 people were massacred waited outside the building for about four minutes without ever going in.
Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel announced during a Thursday news conference that Deputy Scot Peterson resigned after being suspended without pay.
Israel said he made the decision after reviewing video surveillance and interviewing witnesses, including the deputy himself. The sheriff says Peterson responded to the building where the shooting took place, took up a position outside a door and never went in. When asked what Peterson should have done, Israel said the deputy should have “went in, addressed the killer, killed the killer.”

Sheriff: Deputy never entered school in Florida shooting

Not surprised that BSO has lied. First the news was that there was no SRO available. Then it came out that indeed there was an officer, but he was not close enough:

When gunman Nikolas Cruz showed up ready to kill, the lone school resource officer at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High was not in the building that housed freshman.
Instead, School Resource Officer Scott Peterson was elsewhere on the 45-acre campus during the attack that left 17 dead and 16 wounded, Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie said Friday.

I would be remiss if I also did not point out that the Broward School system is also creating a pile of BS to cover their fannies, but I am aiming at the BSO since Chief Israel was so High Moral Cool Guy in yesterday’s Children’s Crusade Town Hall.

Just a reminder to Sheriff Scott: A former Broward Sheriff also colluded with CNN about guns and a while later ended up as a Federal felon

Wanna have fun with a Leftie Poll?

The Young Turks have a poll that needs to be screwed even more with:

I am sure you have seen their video of Election Night. It was beautiful to see them smug, then a little worried, then scared shitless with a final general lost of their collective shit and insulting every minority that voted for Trump.

And just to add to your enjoyment, the head honcho and host of the Young Turks is Cenk Uygur who is an apologist for the Turks (wonder why) and denies the Armenian Genocide.

This was the results when I voted. Let’s keep it like that or better.

Magpul is gonna make so much money: X-Products CEO James Malarkey & wife side with the enemy.

If you’ve been paying attention to social media following the horrible tragedy in Parkland, Flordia you know there have been several controversies in the firearms community. One of the more notable ones involves X-Products CEO James Malarkey stating that he believes “gun ownership is a privilege.” The statement was part of a detailed Facebook post on his personal page detailing a plan for a licensing system for gun ownership.

Go read the post and then come back for final thoughts.

X-+products makes those evil high capacity magazines. Yes, no shit, but apparently they do love themselves some statist life, or at least the wife is disconnected to this world. I love when he says his wife makes her own decisions and he does not have a say so on what “charities” she contributes. First, Everytown is a charity the same way the local Klaven of the KKK is quilting club.  Second, if your partner starts giving money to an organization that has sworn taking your industry out of business, you kick her ass to the curb and fins yourself a nice stripper named Candy.

Third, you are an idiot and people should stop buying your products.

There are rats among us. Vermin should not be around good folks.

And then the pendulum swings to the other side.

Maybe if it was a box with real ammunition, nothing would have happened.

Criminal charges will not be filed against a student after allegedly saying a math symbol looked like a gun.

On Tuesday afternoon, Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated an allegation of terrorist threats at Oberlin High School, according to the department’s Facebook page. The investigation revealed that a student was completing a math problem and drew the sign for square root. Deputies say another student made a comment that the symbol looked like a gun and several other students made similar comments.  According to investigators, the comment made by the student in question “could” sound like a threat when taken out of context.

Student investigated after allegedly saying a math symbol looked like a gun

I kept reading and I did find something suspicious.

Detectives also searched the students home and found no evidence that he possessed or had immediate access to any type of firearm. Investigators say there was no evidence that the student had any intent to commit harm to students or faculty

What kind of household unkempt home in Louisiana doe not have a gun?

Shameful.
