The novels “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” will no longer be required reading in the Duluth school district due to the books’ use of a racial slur, a curriculum change supported by the local NAACP chapter.

The two books will continue to be available in school libraries and can be optional reading for students, but beginning next school year, they’ll be replaced as required reading by other literature that addresses the same topics in ninth- and 11th-grade English classes, said Michael Cary, the district’s director of curriculum and instruction.

I remember back in the late 70s and early 80s when a bunch of religious asshats and other associates wanted to ban books because of reasons up and including the use of certain bad words.  The backlash that created was phenomenal and since it was tagged to the Conservative movement, it was a momentary black eye (Reagan did get elected, so there.)

Anyway, since then, the book-banning defense has been part and parcel of the Liberals. In fact the infamous list is still found around the Internet  as proof of how evil the Conservative Book-Banning, Witch-Burning, Coat-Hanger Abortion crowd can be.  In that list? “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. ”

The report comes out of Zulia State  which borders with Colombia so my first thought was the plastic bags contained cocaine and maybe there is a load of pot or even heroine in the cloth bag. Really dangerous stuff, hardened criminals out of circulation because of the hard labor of local police.

They were arrested because they were carrying two hundred kilos of sugar. Yes, normal sugar, the stuff you add to your coffee.

Regional police officers attached to the Police Coordination Center -Maracaibo South seized, yesterday, 200 kilos of sugar in the main avenue of Urbanizacion Villa Hermosa, Cristo de Aranza parish of Maracaibo. Two alleged criminals were arrested during the procedure.
Brigadier General Rubén Ramírez Cáceres, general director of CPBEZ, commented that the officers carried out surveillance and patrol duties when they saw a vehicle Chevrolet, model Cavalier, red, plate DAS-32A, was overweight in the back.
Immediately they descended from their units, approached to inspect, inside the trunk were 10 bags of sugar, weighed 20 Kilos, for a total of 200 kilos.

Having solved all crimes in their state, the Zulia Police is now targeting those individual engaged in the possession of sugar. OK, I am not being fair as good part for this travesty comes from the central government of Caracas that has made illegal for individual citizens the ownership of quantities of foodstuff that have not been doled out by the official governmental sources and according to the ration “cards” (It is electronic now, uses your thumbprint and runs from a data base.)

The article goes on to say that the sugar will be sent to the local distribution centers where it will be properly given to the populace. But in reality the sugar has already been shared by the members of the local police station with a cut reserved for the bosses.

I can imagine the conversation among inmates.

“What are you in here for? Murder? Rape? Armed robbery?”
“Possession of Sugar”
“Shit, you a badass!”

The Lunar Rover was also electric and it was actually driven around, not just posed for pictures. And it seems that nobody is bothered by the fact that Musk is using a rocket concept discarded by NASA and pretty much everybody else in the early 1960s because it was inefficient. In a Facebook Florida Gun Owner Group, there was an entry about how fast are the CWP being processed right now in Florida and the fees lowered. After the chain of loses we’ve been having because certain GOP senator was doing the beast with two backs with her Democrat counterpart and voting the way he wanted, you kinda figure a bit of good news is welcomed.

Cue the “Muh Rights!” Gun Owners AKA “The Chest Thumpers.” First they began with  “I am for Constitutional Carry!” like the rest of us aren’t and they are the only Pure Virgin Vestals in the Second Amendment temple. Then they proceeded to put down the news because… “Muh Rights, Damn it!”  Last, they crapped on the person in charge of the department because he is running for public office and therefore he is just trying to appeal votes out of Gun Owners.

So fucking what? What do I care he is accelerating the issuance and lowering the costs of permits? Is there any moral superiority in your posing as Super Hero of the Second Amendment? None, because you are just posing. You maximum effective range in the fight for our rights is zero.  In fact it takes the posting of one idiot to be read by a staffer of that candidate to sour his possible in help  advancing the cause of the Second Amendment in Florida if he gets elected.

Thanks to Shawn D’s donation, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on getting the SSL Certificate for the site. As I have been told by the people who know, it will make visitors feel warm/fuzzy about security and increase my Google ranking/visibility.
