This is true. I do believe the frequency of the tone is specially selected because it disrupts basic neurological paths in the brain and we forget whatever plan we had on how to shoot the stage.

Younger generations will remember him for his magnificent, yet low-key portrayal of General Garrison in Blackhawk Down.

Here is one of my favorite scenes from The Right Stuff. You have to agree Phillip Kaufman created an iconic image (and so much so, it was copied merciless in the movie Independence Day) and only somebody with the sure-footed acting chops of Sam Shepard could deliver it.
