A priest and several churchgoers have been taken hostage by fighters in Marawi City, on the Philippine island of Mindanao, as thousands of residents fled ongoing unrest that prompted President Rodrigo Duterte to declare martial law in the southern region.As the violence continues, Duterte said on Wednesday that he will consider expanding his martial law order throughout the country “in order to protect the people”. The violence erupted on Tuesday after the army raided the hideout of Isnilon Hapilon, a commander of the Abu Sayyaf group, which has pledged allegiance to ISIL. Abu Sayyaf fighters called for reinforcements from an allied group, the Maute, and dozens of gunmen managed to enter Marawi, home to about 200,000 people.

This is a major terrorist attack you have not heard about. Abu Sayyaf/ISIS initiated the take over the city of Marawi by attacking a church and kidnapping the parishioners. The unarmed Filipinos had to wait for Government troops to show up to start countering the assholes and nobody knows how many innocents they got to kill because they were unable to defend themselves.
This thing is still going after a week and people in town were forced to evacuate or die at the hands of Abu Sayyaf/ISIS.

So dear Shannon, yes, we pack for church. And if we could carry rifles, we would do so because Evil does not give a shit about the sanctity of the building where we congregate to celebrate God.

Erin Palette of BlazingSword.org had a class on Active Shooter Survival Techniques scheduled for Mid June at the First Congregational Church of Winter Park, Fl.  No guns involved, no ninja shit, just a class. And yesterday she gets this communication from the church:

To say Erin was disappointed would be too weak a description. She explains in her Facebook page why she chose the church:

God Bless her for believing in the good intentions of organizations, but unfortunately it is not so all the time, even with churches.  The First Congregational Church of Winter Park is part of the United Church of Christ and by their own HQ website, virulently Anti Gun.

My take is that people in the  First Congregational Church of Winter Park received Erin’s initial request, saw that she was a member of the LGBTQ community and in a knee-jerk reaction said yes to the event. Then somebody either drop the dime or the church reviewed BlazingSword.org and an “Oh shit!” moment developed necessitating the canceling the class even though it had nothing to do with guns. The church could not afford be associated with a group that advocates Self Defense and Self Reliance because it contravenes the political stance of the Church in general.

And allow me to use some raw language here about Liberal organizations: As long as you follow the political dogma, you are a welcomed member of the  LGBTQ class. You stray from the dogma, and you are nothing more than a freak faggot for them, undeserving of Human Rights.

Now, expense had been made and Erin will have to eat the cost so we need your help. Sean Sorrentino is making an emergency fundraiser via Facebook to at least cover the urgent reprinting of the flyers. I am sure there are other costs and there will be future events also, so please donate a couple of buck their way. AUSTIN (AP/KXAN) — Gov. Greg Abbott visited a gun range Friday to sign a law reducing Texas’ fees for licenses to carry handguns to the lowest in the nation. According to the Texas Tribune, the governor then joked, “I’m gonna carry this around in case I see any reporters,” while holding his bullet-ridden target sheet. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence posted to their Facebook page, “The governor of Texas made a dangerous and out of line joke. We’ve seen time and time again these type of words insight [sic] violence. Words matter. #ENOUGH.” The governor’s office has not responded to a request for comment.

Tell you what, the Brady Campaign should come up with some shirts printed with Gun Free Zone signs and “DO NOT SHOT!” to give journalists for free.

It has been all about the media lately, hasn’t it.

And contrary to what they are trying to say, we are very respectful to the First Amendment and very respectful toward Journalists. And I can promise will show the proper  respect and admiration whenever the first Journalist ever appears somewhere. We shall not extend the same respect to the Public Relations Associates that work in Newspapers, TV Stations newscasts and other “informational” outlets.
